UnfairRepresent 12/01/19 3:53:00 PM #1:	A teenage girl who was shot in the chest in a Chicago neighborhood Friday night is now facing an attempted robbery charge after officials said she tried to rob a woman she was meeting for a sale. The Chicago Police Department said in a news release on Saturday the incident happened around 5:45 p.m. in the city's Little Village neighborhood, when 21-year-old Araceli Diaz met with the 14-year-old girl after the teenager arranged the meeting to buy a dog. When the 14-year-old met up with Diaz, officials said the teen pulled out a pellet gun, struck the 21-year-old on the head with it and tried to take the dog without paying for it. "We're not sure where they met initially or how they communicated, but all we do know is that the 14-year-old did show up with other intentions and she pulled out a BB gun," Chicago Police Officer Jose Jara told FOX32. In response, Diaz then allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot the girl in the chest. Chicago Police said in a news release the 21-year-old was found to have a valid Illinois Firearm Owner's Identification card, or FOID card, to possess a weapon, but no concealed carry license. Araceli Diaz has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon for not having a concealed carry license. Diaz was subsequently arrested in Cicero about an hour after the shooting and charged with unlawful use of a weapon, according to police. The 14-year-old was transported to an area hospital where she was treated for her gunshot wound before she was arrested Saturday morning and charged with attempted armed robbery. She is scheduled to appear in juvenile court on Dec. 9. Chicago police said that Diaz is scheduled to appear in court on Sunday. Bail was set at $5,000 for a woman who shot a 14-year-old girl in the chest Friday evening when the would-be-robber brandished a BB gun and tried to make off with a Husky dog she had arranged to buy on Facebook. After setting up the sale over Facebook, Diaz met the teen and another girl Friday evening in the 2300 block of South Drake Avenue, Gardner told Judge Arthur Wesley Willis. Diaz then handed the dog to the other girl and explained that it would cost $800, Gardner said. When Diaz asked for either the cash or the dog back, the 14-year-old said she also wanted to take a look. As the other girl left the area, the 14-year-old pulled out an unknown metal object, ordered Diaz to the ground and struck her twice in the head and face, Gardner said. Diaz then pulled out a Glock 9mm and shot the girl in the chest and abdomen before driving off in her Cadillac ATS. I feel bad for the 14-year-old who got shot, but unfortunately the two of them were up to no good. Bail was set at $5,000 for a woman who shot a 14-year-old girl in the chest Friday evening when the would-be-robber brandished a BB gun and tried to make off with a Husky dog she had arranged to buy on Facebook. After setting up the sale over Facebook, Diaz met the teen and another girl Friday evening in the 2300 block of South Drake Avenue, Gardner told Judge Arthur Wesley Willis. Diaz then handed the dog to the other girl and explained that it would cost $800, Gardner said. When Diaz asked for either the cash or the dog back, the 14-year-old said she also wanted to take a look. As the other girl left the area, the 14-year-old pulled out an unknown metal object, ordered Diaz to the ground and struck her twice in the head and face, Gardner said. Diaz then pulled out a Glock 9mm and shot the girl in the chest and abdomen before driving off in her Cadillac ATS. I feel bad for the 14-year-old who got shot, but unfortunately the two of them were up to no good. The poor dog died, too, said Walsh, who noted that his client breeds Huskies. </quote> ...
