Even Samsung now has the gall to treat this basic technology like a premium feature.

Wait, did Samsung remove the headphone jack from their phones now? :(((

The reason I bought an S8 was because it had a headphone jack and the iPhones didn't...

They brought out a new "A" phone (their mid-range, cheaper line) without a headphone jack, and leaked reports show the new S10 probably has a headphone jack. So basically it feels like they're treating this as a premium flagship feature you only get if you spend $1k+ on a phone.

Obviously samsung fans are furious.

So either you put up with objectfully worse audio output and vastly increased battery drain, or you pay through the nose for a half decent set of bluetooth earphones to make up the sound difference....for what? So you don't have to deal with a small wire in your clothes?

And yet, this is where smartphone manufacturers are going. Even Samsung now has the gall to treat this basic technology like a premium feature.

It makes me irate thinking about it.

And finally people who are very very famous can wear whatever the hell they want and make it cool for whatever reason, because they get to decide what that means.

It hasn't ever changed tbh

This hasn't been the case in northern NJ since the late aughts. As long as you dress right for work, it doesn't even matter what you dress like outside of it. Hair can be anything. Pajamas were popular for a while.

No, respecting authority figures doesn't necessitate that you also respect that citizens question their authority during an encounter.

If you are being arrested or otherwise detained, you are not in a position to question the authority of the police officer. It is not the time or the place. They are, in fact, the de facto authority figure in that situation as appointed by the government, whether you want to question that or not, and you are obligated to comply with their direction in the pursuit of the law. Don't start quoting the articles of confederation or maritime law when the police pull you over for speeding and ask for your ID.

And if an officer demands you to answer their question, when you know this is not wise?

Police officers are public servants. They should not be treated as all-powerful, even on the beat.

there are LOTS of homophobic people in the world? should they not work? If they aren't causing trouble for others, why does it matter what they personally think, and how they live their private lives?

I kind of get it, but I think it's dumb to crucify people for what they believe in situations where they are not harming others.

The argument somewhat falls flat when the difference is that one has been given a very big, very widesweeping platform, whereas the others don't have much of a voice at all.

If you or I said something like that at work we'd probably be reprimanded too, perhaps severely. When Kevin Hart is in an interview he's doing his job. That's him plugging his own celebrity. He puts himself in the limelight, he can't say "please respect my private opinions" over opinions he voices very publicly.

It's not really contradictory because they, for the most part, don't believe the government is tyrannical. Not counting the more extreme libertarian types, who aren't exactly the typical conservative.

Conservatism typically includes a respect for legitimate authority figures like police officers. That means that they believe you should be respectful toward those police and follow directions during the process, assuming the officer is also acting in accordance with the law.

That said, they also believe the citizenry should be able to own and operate firearms in the case that the government does become tyrannical. For example, if the government wanted to take away the right to own guns.

If they respected these authority figures as they should, should they not also respect the liberty of citizens to question their authority? It seems to me like conservatives often take issue with merely asking a question of an officer or not immediately complying with whatever they say.

It was as stupid then as it is now.

Asking for someone to publicly retract a statement is the equivalent of a kid on the playground shouting "TAKE IT BACK!" and even if they do, it isn't genuine and everyone knows it. It's attempting to force someone to say something they don't believe as a power play.

I'm sure you also learned in the playground that you're actually responsible for the things you say and sometimes they have consequences. If you say something into a loudspeaker so that more people can hear it the consequences might be more severe than if you whispered it to your best bud in private.

I don't know what's hard to grasp here. Kevin Hart didn't break any laws with what he said and he won't be arrested, people are just expressing their opinion on the guy and what he said to them. You're not against people having their own opinions about celebrities, right?

There are 7 billion people. The only opinions anyone should realistically give a shit about are from those who make the rules and those close to them. Hear/watch/read the media they put out or don't. Flipping out over something anyone said that DOESN'T fit those criteria is just stupid.

What strawman nonsense is this

People aren't saying Kevin Hart can't be allowed to do things anymore. They're saying they want him to publically retract a previous statement he made on a public platform. He's allowed to keep saying those things, moreover. It just would probably mean people want to see his face on TV anymore. Free market and all that, right?

Don't act like boycotting an entertainer over controversy is a concept millennials invented. You can read stories about this happening to Beethoven ffs.
