running in the city i only come across the small yappy dogs you are afraid you will step on and kill or well trained dogs on leashes.

as a kid i grew up in the country where a lot of people didn't believe in fencing in their dogs. i ran with a small club i had to use a couple of times to get a dog to back off.

Yep this is the country, so most of these dogs are off their leads. I definitely don't want to get close to a German Shephard to find out if it's friendly or not.

Not that 130lb Sally can do sweet fuck all even with a lead if a dog that size loses it...

There's either the little shit dogs that get super excited that you're running and think it's a game and you're worried about stepping on them

Or there's the labradors that get just as excited and block the path

OR, and this is my personal least favourite - there's the scary dogs. Yesterday this single mother with her baby in a pram was taking her two german shephards for a walk. Soon as I rounded the corner they stopped dead in their tracks, ears went up, tails went deadly still. I guess a man running towards their cub or whatever was a threat. I turned the fuck around and went back the way I came.

I'm cool with dogs and all but fuck dogs during running time

In this context it's saying some straight up bullshit to justify your prejudice. So, "immigrants" and "settlers" are understood to be inherently different things, without explicitly having to say "arab terrorists" and "the original white people".

I fully understand the dislike for random encounters too, I find myself fleeing battles at times when I'm just trying to get from point A to point B

That being said y'all should know by now there's a bunch of JRPGs (mostly action) that don't have random encounters. Radiant Historia is a great example of one

Xenoblade Chronicles series doesn't have random encounters, but it does have this other problem of accidentally aggroing a level 90 Boss from really far away when you're like a level 5 noob. Dunkey also touched on that in his XB2 review.

I do think it's a cool feature to see these behemoths from the start though. Gives you a sense of scale and how far you have to go.

I agree with him.

People are falling back on the "Dunkey just doesn't like JRPGs" argument, but I don't think that's the takeaway. Dunkey doesn't like these particular elements of JRPGs that haven't changed at all in like 20+ years.

Entertaining game and if that's exactly your kind of game then cool, but don't be surprised about the criticism. If someone says they don't like JRPGs that doesn't mean any opinion they have on JRPGs is irrelevant. It probably just means that they don't like JRPGs for certain tropes in JRPGs and are therefore criticising this game for adhering to them.

My tastes for games have changed to what I can find time for. As much as I'd love to play all the balls deep RPGs, honestly a round of two of mario kart works out better most of the time. I get too much guilt now if I spend 4 hours on a saturday getting sunk into a JRPG.

The unexpected bonus is that because I'm so fucking behind on my backlog and barely find time to play games, I'm still absolutely blown away by games or mechanics that are basically 10 years old at this point. So I can pick up games for cheap and absolutely adore them even though they're already really old news.

Between the grating accents and some cringe VA performances, the excessively overcomplicated item/modding system, the far too many different steps you need to make to upgrade your characters, the annoying tutorials, the boring sidequests that take far too much time and require too many rare item drops, the slow-ass combat and the fanservice that surely only appeals to 6 year old boys, it was maybe the worst start to a good game I can remember.

But it's coming together now. Combat is starting to get a good flow to it that reminds me of the original Xenoblade. I've got some half decent blades finally so I can actually perform combos. The story is genuinely good. I've realised this is basically pokemon but instead of collecting animals you collect anime girls.

because if you keep $100 in your checking account, your only out $100. If they skim your credit card and your card has a $10,000 credit limit, then you could be out $10,000.

This never happens, lmao

Meanwhile something that does happen is people having their debit cleaned out.

Let's recap on some basics:

- when someone steals from your credit card, they're actually stealing from the bank, not from you. The bank takes this really seriously.
- when someone steals from your debit card, they're stealing directly from you. The bank might be sympathetic but also entirely unmotivated to help outside of basic support.
- there are literally different laws that apply in each case that mean that credit cards are categorically safer for consumers than debit cards.

Call of Duty actively introduces mechanics to make the game easier to play.

So does the Devil May Cry series. Die too many times you get an easy mode. Not uncommon for games to have mechanics that allow them to be more beginner friendly.

On the other hand, much of what Nintendo puts out is super casual and lends itself to being able to pick up and play regardless of age or ability. A beginner can pick up Mario Kart or Kirby and be pretty decent at it (at least enough to play and enjoy) in like 5 minutes.

You can play a few matches of smash on your lunch break with people who have never played it before.

That to me is true casual gaming, not the idea of gatekeeping certain videogames on a more cultural lvel because they're not dorky enough for your tastes.

From a technical point of view it's not really that hard. You tag an image with the word that people should search for to find the image, plus some other SEO related tricks. The hard part comes in coordinating enough hit results to warrant google putting it at the top of the list. That's actually near impossible in any other circumstance when talking about a word as generic as this.

Like if you came to me as a client and said "Ok, we need the word Idiot to come up with this picture as the first 10 results on google image search", I'd be like "Ok, we're gonna need a million dollar budget at least".

There are certain inherent advantages to buying a robust system over a customisable one.

I don't like macs particularly but there are way more reliable if you don't like having to spend time configuring and troubleshooting your setup.

Further, "OSX sucks" is an opinion, not a fact. If you want to discuss hardware that might be a factual conversation, but preferences on OS systems is always going to be about perception.

Why can't he he do these things? People call him a crybaby, people forget he's a showman. It's what he does. Politics is full of superficial bullshit and Hillary lost because people don't trust her. She's more like Obama in that regard. Trump, to his fans, doesn't play at an angle. He's not pretending to not be an asshole.
