I went around all the colonies at the start of Chapter 4 and already have 9 side quests to do. I think the Colony 30 quests would've popped up in Chapter 3 if I had gone back after hitting 3* affinity, though.

Also yeah, my CP gain has really slowed down and the three most recent jobs are barely unlocking for people. :(

Yeah I had enough bonus exp built up that I could've leveled enough to do that one in Ch3 too, but I decided to wait. It just seemed too ridiculous, lol.

You see how huge the Fornis region is, and then you look at the Affinity Chart and see how much more room there is for lots more colonies, and you almost want to go lie down for a bit.

I finally exited the Fornis region. I was beginning to think it was just going to go on forever (and I still haven't fully mapped the northwest or southeast corners!)

Yeah the game expects you to continue the storyline a little bit instead of immediately backtracking, even though it also immediately gives you a sidequest to backtrack to Colony 9.

I discovered that with the new Thaumaturge class (wtf is that name), my Mio has unlocked the capability of using Topple, Daze, and Burst by herself. Woo!

I wish I could mark down all these purple climbing vines as I find them. The map is simply too big to remember where they all are.

I suspect there's probably maps with them online. I'll find 'em when the time comes.

Level 31 and still doing side quests in Chapter 3! I'm gonna laugh if I end up strong enough to do the level 40 one before moving on with the plot.

edit: oh yeah, and last I checked, I could get up to level 36 with bonus exp. I'm gonna be a real tempted to use it to take on Colony Iota, but that would just be too ridiculous.

From the leaked screenshots, the Pokemon Presents had the Terastal crystals, the Ice Gym Leader and, the girl with the red and blue hair. From the text leaks, it confirmed the name of the region, Paldean Wooper, one of the three dog Pokemon, the story having three "routes", getting the cover legendaries early as mounts.

Also possibly the 2-stage icicle/glacier Pokemon. As I recall, Khu disagreed with Kaka describing it that way, so this could sorta look like that I guess. Alternatively Cetitan could be the dolphin Kaka mentioned that caused Khu to tweet a pic of a buff anthro dolphin (maybe it has a pre-evo that's more dolphin-like).

More proof Violet is the superior version.

Cetitan is still cool, I'm just bummed it's pure Ice. When I first watched the trailer on my phone, I thought it had more purple coloration and was gonna be Ice/Poison. =/

Also I appreciate it's more monster-like qualities. Like it's a whale with arms and legs and spikes and has a stupid mouth and is a great big ol' monstrosity lemme use one already.

Maybe it's a biker gang, lol. Maybe there will even be "antagonists" for all three routes. Rival school for the gyms, biker gang for the racing, and typical "we want to end the world" baddies for the crystal stuff.

I'm actually super surprised the region isn't going to be largely uninhabited. After the DLC and Arceus, I was seriously only expecting a few cities and then just a bunch of open wilderness. You can also see various racing flags spread throughout that probably deal with one of the three progression routes.

The direct was kinda lame but still excited for the game, the 3 ways of progression is intriguing although not saying anything about what the other 2 ways are is like....alright thanks for teasing us I guess?

I imagine late September or October we get more Poke reveals (Starter evos please) and more info on what those 2 progression ways are

Looking at the story page above, it seems the three routes are gyms, something to do with racing, and then what looks like an actual storyline about the Tera whatsit (and based on the leaks, probably also the past/future Pokemon stuff).

Hmm, the website mentions there's a Champion Rank class of trainers. Instead of just saying you beat the league and become Champion, it seems to be implying that there's still more to do once you hit Champion Rank. Perhaps there will be a slew of strong Champion Rank trainers to fight in the post-game or something. Or perhaps S/V's version of the Elite 4 is just another tournament like Sw/Sh, and you're just fighting other trainers who achieved Champion Rank.

This sounds all good on paper, but everyone saw this stuff and the actual buzz after this direct is still the lowest I've ever seen after a mainline Pokmon direct. Not to get too LMS here (no YouTube personality videos or reddit threads I swear!), but I've seen multiple people say they are less interested in this game now than they were before the direct.

Now, I DO think a lot of that is that the generation specific battle gimmick has reached critical mass, and people are being turned off by the crystallization thing. The minute details of the gameplay changes are being overshadowed by the focus of the direct being a big stinker.

If online discourse mattered at all, then Sw/Sh would've bombed. The pre-release online discourse for that was an absolute dumpster fire. Between Dexit and complaints about graphics, you'd have expected Pokemon was dead.

This game is the most the main series has been shaken up ever, though (other than Arceus, but despite technically being mainline, it's still more or less a spin-off). Open world with possibly good co-op gameplay, and gyms are only 1 of 3 different progression routes you can go down now. Depending on how those other 2 routes turn out, this will be the most ambitious Game Freak has been... ever?

Leak info also it'll be the first time we've been back over 100 new Pokemon in over a decade

Curious to learn more about the non-gym storylines (three "routes" was also in the leaks).

I'm fine with the battle gimmick. Could be interesting, and faster raids without waiting for other people to attack could be great.

I like how apparently Riku and Manana still look perfectly normal to the iris controlled soldiers and so far no one has acknowledged them at all.

I hit the first red dot after starting chapter 3, I think that was about 11 hours after starting the chapter?

The enemies in the area are 18-20 and I'm level 35 lol.

Was this before or after Ethel's hero quest? From what I could tell, the only new place it let me go before doing that was the western path from the start of the desert, but literally every enemy down there was level 40+. I still did some exploring and got a container, some husks, and ether channels, but eventually every pathway looked a bit too tight to easily avoid enemies and I went back. I also tried going back to new areas of the first region, but it still wouldn't let me.

lol this (what I assume is) end of Chapter 2 segment goes so hard.
