(Chapter 5) I'm super happy there's at least one true proper city in this game. Monolith Soft is so good at cities, it would've been a shame if there weren't any.

Also I just noticed the scale of the map of the Caldensia region. ._.

I just stumbled into Alexandria's ascension quest without paying attention to the level of it, and then I found myself smack dab in the middle of a fight with a level 59 Consul while my team was only level 53. I actually managed to win on a second try, after sitting through three long chain attack sequences. @_@

I gained two levels from it, lol.

The new Electric frog apparently functions similar to Rotom?

Haha, wow.

I try to fight at least a few of every new monster I encounter, preferably trying to aim for the lucky or strong variants. It's been enough to stay up to date with most gem upgrades, but I've lagged behind on a few. I need to go back and find a few more quar-monsters.

If this is really a thing, I suppose it'll probably bubble up into a proper romance between Noah and Mio. Maybe all three pairs even. Smashing the Flame Clock giving a lot more freedom than they anticipated!

Man Stalker does absolutely bonkers damage if you build it right, Rapid Shot is insane with bleed damage stacking.

I'm having a grand time with this game but one solitary complaint I have is the tank unlocks definitely feel way too spread out. Also there may just straight up not be enough of them. I'm in Chapter 4 and only having three of them that have almost been mastered by the full party at this point is making me wonder if I'm going to have to straight up start tossing out CP. Other than that I've been having a lot of fun with the system. The constant swapping of classes and heroes (for chain attack strategy mix-ups) does a great job of keeping the gameplay fresh and the general systems here are the best they've ever been by quite a lot (not counting X which I haven't played.)

Yeah you can tell what each locked class's role will be, so only 5 of the 23 are Defenders. Weird choice. Maybe there's more unlockable ones beyond what's initially visible, though that would probably be post-game. Hopefully the first DLC hero is a Defender.

This actually just solved a small problem I had encountered. I just finished the "For Colony 9" quest, and saw a ? pop up, with Kite as the quest starter at the canteen. But I didn't start it right away, because I wanted to see any new NPC dialogue first. I ended removing Zeon at the time, so I could see if he had new dialogue too. But then I saw Kite was also standing in the command room, and after talking to him, I noticed the ? disappeared.

I thought my game was glitching, but then checking out the Hero Details section on a whim, for Zeon it mentioned "with Zeon in the party, do so and so". So I figured maybe I needed to put Zeon back in the party, and lol yeah, the ? popped back up.

Where do you actually check the affinity? I keep seeing that it's in the stats somewhere but I haven't been able to find it.

Als my characters are level 42 in Chapter 4 and I'm feeling pretty overleveled. How was everyone else looking at this point?

On the Class Selection screen, press ZR, and you'll see this. The affinity rank is the circled letter in the top right corner.

Shouldn't be a surprise about Melia being a fake, although lol N face reveal was hardly even hidden at any point of this game. But hey make up for that by throwing in a surprise Mio!

When I heard there was an M and it was a woman, I figured it was either Mio or her dead off-seeker friend.

I'm excited to see this city and find out if it'll be a giant barrage of side quests.

Yep, of the five cross-gen evolutions, the only one that's of a regional form is Wooper.

Yeah what we saw of it from the other bad cropped/blurred images, it didn't look overly feminine. I think it's just supposed to be a flamboyant dancer.

Based on the other hints, I think what that guy drew as arm feathers is actually it's tail. Though obviously with how blurred the face was, it's impossible to decipher if its facial features are gonna be more feminine or not

All three regional Tauros forms may be Fighting type, and the two-non mono have either Fire, Electric, Water, Grass, Ice, Psychic, or Ghost as a second type (if I'm decoding the colors on a Japanese type chart correctly).

Woohoo, I was overleveled enough to complete the Colony 11 quests right away. One of the fights took two tries, but I still managed to complete the first big quest at level 50 and the second at level 51. Surprising amount of personality put into the 11 NPCs.

Though I gotta say, after those scenes, I am curious how things are gonna play out in the future regarding Cammuravi, since I'm pretty sure that's him there as the second to last hero class. Well it's pretty obvious that most of these soldiers are just being cloned and redeployed, given Eunie's "flashbacks", plus Ethel mentioned something about him choosing rebirth. So I suppose they've already set up ways for him to return.

Wait, did you beat chapter 4 or the mid-chapter 4 climax? Chapter 4 is definitely the longest of the first four chapters in terms of mandatory content. If you just got the punch you've got a good bit left.

It did appear to just be a mid-chapter climax, lol. Now I'm doing the next hero quest.

Cutscene/battle-wise, that felt like the end of a chapter, but plot-wise it felt like Chapter 4 was really short if it's already over. I felt the same way about Chapter 2, but figured that was still in the intro territory. I saw someone say that this is the shortest Xenoblade if you cut out all the side content, and so far I can understand that.

Luckily the side content is mostly really good, so of course I want to do it all, lol. I'm at 62 hours, so I mean the game overall is obviously meaty and this is not a complaint. I just keep getting surprised that the chapters are ending so (relatively) suddenly. Granted I haven't progressed since the battle, so maybe the chapter isn't over and this whole post is pointless.

Oh, I picked up another Memory Locket somewhere. Was just trading more silver coins when I noticed a 1 next it in the list. Definitely did not trade 99 gold coins for it, lol. I have a Brute Memory already too. So I only need to spend gold coins on the cheapest thing! Though I can see how having multiple Brute Memories could be good for tough fights.

I like how the Tau Hunter quest ends with telling you it's too dangerous to continue into the lower woods, and then the red pathway light proceeds to lead you all the way through it to get to the elevator back to the colony.

Doing Iota quests and discovering the northwest corner of Fornis is bigger than expected. I thought I was pretty much done with mapping this region. @_@

It's interesting how much of the gameplay elements are appearing in story and cutscenes, like the Collectopedia Cards having a backstory and now it's a way to send stuff to foster colony supports, plus battle cutscenes showing stuff like the AoE healing ring.

Kaka confirms the dolphin and Cetitan are separate lines. Dolphin is 2-stage, but the evolution has two forms, one of which stands up (hence the picture Khu tweeted of an anthro dolphin)

Sushi dragon Pokemon seems to be Dragon/Water and is single-stage

He's also started posting in-game pics of Pokemon again, but they're super cropped and small to the point of being pointless (like they're just partial shots of partial body parts, showing even less than the partial pics of the Sprigatito and Quaxly evos)

Yeah I thought I was doing something wrong when the double Ouroboros chain attack ended after just two rounds. Does seem a little pointless. You'd think it'd be extra strong since it takes awhile to build up to Lv. 3, but guess not.

Anyway, Iota liberated. Now let's see what my level will be when I'm done with their quests, lol. Then I can finally properly start the chapter. Was surprised there wasn't anything new for Colony 4, not even when I hit 4* affinity. I guess the second Dorin/Bambam quest counts as them, but that feels more like its own thing now.

I haven't gone since I was a kid.

There's a Dragon-type sushi Pokemon that looks like a fish.

In odd generation tradition, there's a new 2-stage mushroom line. Similar to the eel that looks like Diglett, these mushrooms look like Tentacool/cruel.

I was seeing serious lags in my characters unlocking new classes, but then I did the side battles for the Alexandria quest while still being a few levels below them. Then after that I was curious and managed to take down one of those level 46 dinos while my party was at 38. Finishing most of those fights with overkills cleared that issue right up, lol.

The direct proved the leakers are legit, so there's no reason to doubt it at this point. However there's still a possibility it's not gonna be a traditional dolphin in the way people expect/want.

My current guess is that Cetitan's pre-evo is gonna be dolphin-like.

Both leakers have come back since the direct.

The engines in the cars seen at the 1:36 mark in the trailer is the engine Pokemon mentioned before. It's 2-stage and Poison/Steel.

Cetitan has a cute pre-evo

There's an Electric bird, the third dog line is Dark, the pseudo is Ice/Dragon, the spider Pokemon mentioned before is seemingly pure Bug.
