| masterpug53 05/02/24 1:15:06 PM #116 | I wouldn't go so far as to say I love The Phantom Menace, but I definitely view it more favorably than most of the internet, and I enjoy it more than the other prequels by a country mile. I have some warm nostalgic fuzzies over it being one of the first big CGI spectacles, and I still enjoy watching the pod race and Duel of the Fates. The flaws are obvious and I wouldn't put any effort into defending them, but they never irked me as much as they did other people (notably Jar-Jar - he was more irritating than not, but he certainly didn't 'rape my childhood' or any of that nonsense).
By contrast, AotC just plain bores me to tears on top of being thoroughly awful. I put a lot of misplaced faith in RotS to stick the landing for the trilogy overall, and it actively pissed me off with how badly it missed the landing on pretty much all of its big moments, to the point where I still hold a grudge against it (didn't help that it kicked off that wave of mid-00's disappointing threequels, soon to be followed by X-Men 3, Spider-Man 3, and Pirates of the Caribbean 3). --- Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read. |

It's a bad game series of carnage, doom gloom and despair. I played Oblivion for thousands of hours in the late 00's, it was my first genuine video game addiction. I recently started up a playthrough for the first time in over ten years and couldn't finish it. It's gotten a bit of a cult following now, but when it released there were maybe five people total on the planet who loved it, and I was proud to be one of them. Not that the movie isn't 40% a hot mess, but I adored the 60% it did right.

it's literally just an alternate history so the timeline is different. it's a bunch of "what ifs". what if we designed everything around tesla instead of edison? what if the 60s cultural revolution never happened and we never got the disco 70s and crazy 80s? what if the american dream lifestyle took center stage, such as culture did in the 90s, and continued forward for decades without much change (besides technologically). it's really not difficult to figure out. Pretty much this. It's also assumed that cultural revolutions were cracked down on pretty hard by the government.
