My extended family see each other often enough that it's not really a "reunion" it's just a get-together. And I enjoy them a lot

I have done a few actual reunions with extremely extended family and they tend to be fun too but I wish they weren't always hosted in a different country

I felt like I played it forever when I was a kid. But thinking back on it, kids often just feel like everything is way longer than it is and I know my parents limited my computer usage time per day so I'm sure it can't actually be as long as it seems

(un?)fortunately the max timer length for a level is only 500 seconds, so you can only get things this long by abusing stuff that pauses the timer which means the player is not playing

Apples to apples has you matching things (people, animals, places, groups, concepts, whatever) to descriptions (a single adjective)

personally I find it a lot more fun than CAH because instead of trying to match very specific fill in the blanks or etc you're working in a bit more of an abstract way and it can be kinda silly as a result. I think its main downside is that the deck has too many specific named people in it and they're almost always extremely lame answers for just about any description card, if you even know who they are in the first place

While I agree with the overall sentiment of what you're saying I feel like if you play a game for hundreds of hours you probably just like it and are unwilling to admit it to yourself regardless of how "bad" it is

Reading the full article linked here and seeing it bring up long tweets (which I'd forgotten about) makes me think this probably isn't actually the point?

It seems to me more that it's a way to make it difficult or unappealing for news sites to link to their articles on twitter, so that they are forced to instead write the whole article in tweets and people are contained within the site when reading it (aka generating advertising money for twitter) rather than sent to a different site (aka generating advertising money for the news company). Since really, are people going to click through random pics without the headline also there to incentivize it? And there is a long history of tech vs media feuding which sort of backs up the desire to make changes mostly to be petty/annoying to the other side

I don't think he really fully considered the consequences.

I have definitely seen more trans / autistic people in discord communities than in any other online community I've been a part of. I think this is probably because only recently has it become more acceptable to talk about these things in public(ish) spaces and discord makes up most of my recent online social interations. maybe if I still used reddit with the frequency I did 10 years ago I'd be seeing it there too

how is modern writing worse?

at least personally I feel like there is more focus on spectacle and callbacks to past works than there used to be, both of which I consider sort of lazy things to do to help hide a lack of real substance

but then again I guess those don't directly impact character writing so much as overall direction and plotting

To play devil's advocate; I would argue that this isn't exclusively from viewers being unfair, but from the trend of more female protagonists arising at the same time the quality of writing in a lot of modern media has gotten worse. It's not that modern writers are creating the same kinds of characters which audiences simply hate because they're women. It's rather that, at the same time writers are creating more female characters, they are also handling the same tropes and plot devices worse.

if the split in A was flipped I would choose it instantly but there is nothing worse than experiencing what could hae been but then it all being taken away from you

The WGA's big point about AI was protection for the future. Right now, I can't see AI theratning that many writers because AI writing isn't really good beyond weird absurdist stuff.

Contract's only for 3 years though... I feel like they might have messed up a little there (or maybe that's the best they could get?)

nene's done bare hands stream once before I think? and then a few more with gloves where she wrote a message on her arm for chat that she then "accidentally" showed. I'm pretty sure all the vods of those were privated and never came back though

la+ also did a tablet rhythm game stream once with fingerless gloves and she painted her nails to match her character design sheet I thought that was pretty funny

the best weapon I have easy access to is probably a kitchen knife / cleaver, the best weapon if I got a minute to grab it is probably a crowbar from the basement

la+ already probably streamed the most on twitch of everyone in holo? maybe? for some reason valorant streams often ended up on twitch (I don't know why) and she'd streamed a fair bit of that so...

yu-no is a really old/influential VN point and click hybrid kinda game that was extremely loved back in the day, the steam version is a graphical remaster of it that doesn't really change the story or anything. I haven't read it myself but I've seen split opinions between people thinking it's still great and people feeling it's a little bit outdated (the original game is from like 1995 or something)

white album I know basically nothing about, everyone just talks about white album 2. which suggests to me it's probably unremarkable. it's not a direct sequel and I don't think even shares any characters? so I'm pretty sure everyone just skips the first game and only plays WA2

I don't think you really have to worry about it that much, as far as I'm aware most of the games in that list have either no censoring or just have the sex scenes removed. which are usually not particularly important and if you really want them I'm sure you can find a patch out there somewhere.

the big exception is wonderful everyday, which has like 80%+ of the game removed so that they could get in on steam in the first place. but this was a planned intentional decision, since the publishers/localizers released the restoration patch alongside it and you're basically expected to apply it to play the actual game. basically just a way of skirting around steam's regulations.

oh also if you're looking for another rec (I know you have already) I recommend you, me, and her

edit: just in a general sense, when people talk about censorship in visual novels like 99% of the time it's porn/sex stuff. violence is basically never censored since western media and storefronts are totally fine with violence

I'll kinda unrecommend cross channel, the translation is very poor

other than that, fine list? although there's some stuff on there like Aokana, grisaia, and most of the Key games that are a lot more slice of life / romance / comedy sorts of games which kinda stands out from your first post where you named basically all mystery/suspense stuff. they're good games but just to make sure you know what you're getting into

Simple patterns. Unsure, even when I was brand new easy mode wasn't that interesting. If you're playing UT for the story, it's like the gameplay's an obstruction to that, while with Touhou you probably went there specifically to try your luck at dodging rain.

I think your perspective might just be a little warped, if you've played any touhou at all before (even just easy modes) then yeah undertale looks quite unimpressive in comparison but it was definitely meant as a mass market appeal sort of game and I know plenty of people who find it difficult. though personally I mostly agree that the gameplay is not too interesting from a challenge perspective and is mostly just cool seeing how the patterns tie into the themeing of each character, there's a lot of personality there

as an ex-touhou player myself I think you should check out rabi ribi if you haven't before, that's the game whose bosses rekindled the joy of dodging bullets in me

I'm a bit surprised it's that soon, not that I pay too much attention to american demographics
