I think this is maybe because there aren't a lot of stereo types around Italian women besides nice old lady and maybe the jersey shore shit if that's still out there Italian men on the other hand have had a lot of exposure in movies and TV, but we are still likely to get confused somewhat often. That's like saying that remake Vicious should be the true canon material or something. What is this garbage? Julia is a big part of Spike Spiegels arc in the original Cowboy Bebop, but her actual screentime in the series is insanely short. Netflixs version changes that and makes Julia a major face right out of the gate, and I think it improves on the anime by making her more than fodder for a tragic ending. I dont dislike the way the anime uses Julia, but after seeing all she did in Season 1 of the live-action adaptation, I feel confident in saying her character arc improves on the anime. The original Cowboy Bebop is told mainly through the perspective of Spike, Faye, and Jet, which can create a pretty limiting viewpoint in some areas. Spikes main goal is to find and save Julia, so all we really know about her is from his memories and his perspective. Its fairly limited in scope in terms of telling the story of what feels like a complex dynamic between Vicious, Spike, and Julia. And it gets worse How can anyone watch the remake and call her character better in it? More does not always make for better. They stripped her whole character away and essentially picked apart little pieces of her character. No longer is she in the the syndicate, no longer is she a tough as nails loving yet beautiful women with a tragic past alongside spike. She's just a fricken wannabe pop idol her gets her head in too deep because she wanted to hang out with some bad guys from the syndicate The most ironic part is how the anime constantly calls Julia a "real woman" for how she acts compared to the rest of the female cast.
