Life Is Good is so consistent, in fact, that it's disorienting, and those of us with a long history navigating Nas albums will have a lot of pressing questions: What are all these top-shelf beats doing here? Where are the queasy sex jams, the songs rapped from the perspective of heroin spoons or discarded E&J bottles, the choruses about being a Warrior and a Hero? Where is the blindingly ill-fitting Nas Radio Bid? (The lone example, the Swizz Beatz-produced "Summer on Smash", is just inoffensively generic.) But above all: What happened this time?

"Summer on Smash" is anything but inoffensive. And I'm not a fan of the review; it wasn't written by Ian Cohen, but Jayson Greene is just as bad.

My favorite radio station, WFNX, is going off the air tonight at 7pm. It's been on the air for 29 years, and was instrumental in breaking a ton of alternative bands, most notably Nirvana (and virtually any band from Boston worth mentioning), all while being independently owned and operated.

It sucks when this happens. My favourite radio show, Brave New Waves, went off the air in 2007. I listened to it nearly every night at midnight for seven years. That show introduced me to so many acts: GY!BE, Kim Hiorthoy, Supersilent, William Basinski, Mirah, Destroyer, Kevin Drumm - the list goes on.

I think they're both fairly close in quality, but I give the nod to Mass Romantic because: it's more chaotic, and I like that; it has Neko Case's best performances on any New Pornos album, even though she's grown more comfortable with her voice over time; it doesn't have "Three or Four" or "The Bones of An Idol," neither of which I like at all (and I'm not too big on "Twin Cinema," either"); and as great as "The Bleeding Heart Show" is, and it's really great, I might like both "Mass Romantic" and "Letter from an Occupant" just a touch more.

Yeah, it's a misguided relaunch, but hopefully Marvel will stumble onto a few good fits... and hopefully Bendis won't stay on X-Men nearly as long as he has Avengers.

the only book there that i'll really miss is journey into mystery, because there's definitely not going to be something to replace that. fantastic four, as great as it's been, has probably run its course. but some of those books need a change - iron man and captain america especially - while most of the other books aren't very good.

neither mononoke nor spirited away have blu-rays in japan. they're not even announced. i'd expect one of them this fall or next spring, though. probably next spring. we've already had three ghibli blu-rays this year.

Snow White and Spider-Man are both movies carried by their lead actors. The stories in each are problematic, but still fun. Perfect summer movies. Prometheus... might leave you disappointed. The 3D in it is great, but you should probably wait to watch it at home on Blu-Ray, when you'd have a better chance to properly evaluate it. Not sure about the other two.

I'd say Snow White. Spider-Man is going to have obnoxious crowds because it's the opening week and a Friday and it's summer, while Snow White has been out for a while.

it was rated by the esrb 6 months ago. looks like it hit steam in mid-april, when my pc died and i had finals. no wonder i missed it! unfortunately, it uses GFWL. gonna have to be a good sale to get me to play that.

oh, it's flash? i've only ever used it sparingly when I've had free month subs. comixology isn't too expensive, btw. there's regular sales where you can pick up back catalogue books for a buck each. it's worth keeping an eye on for the future.

It's the cards for me. I dig that Skyward Sword poster, but the Luigi's Mansion and Kid Icarus posters are a bit lame. And I have the limited Zelda posters anyway.

Hopefully Nintendo took it down because they're adding another option, or allowing Platinum users the option for an item + a game. But I doubt it!

Oh, and picking up Majora's Mask isn't entirely useless if you have the Zelda Collection on GCN. VC games are playable on the Wii U, GCN discs are not!

Did you get platinum or gold? If you just got gold, you should grab Mario vs. Donkey Kong. One of the best DSi games out there.

just played through the rhythm thief demo - so short! - and the music is not good. at all. that's pretty important in a rhythm game. does the full game have a better selection of songs or is it more uninspired, uptempo jazz?
