Poker VR is amazing. Controls are great and there's tons of hilarious toys you can play with. People seemed to play like live too unlike the nonsense online games you normally get.

That's the thing with these established businesses. Their goal isn't to keep innovating and stay ahead of the market, it's to just drain as much money and energy as possible they can from their dying concept until it's gone. Blockbuster HAD to shut down, and it HAD to be a new player like Netflix to take over. Same with Gamestop.

I made turkey and steak this year. They were both great and the turkey (breast) was very juicy. Literally just use a thermometer and non-zero seasoning and you can't go wrong.

It's funny cuz if you're eating dry bland turkey then I guarantee your steak is dry and bland too. Just that shitty steak is at least mildly enjoyable while shitty turkey is torture.

That's basically my point. If the optimal play isn't fun, then it's a bad game. Also if things don't get more fun the more optimally everyone starts plays, then it's a bad game.

Mafia definitely gets way more fun the more optimally you play. And also what is optimal changes drastically. Only exception might be a dumbass/troll on the scum team, but even that can end up with interesting gameplay.

Resistance is so lame from a Mafia perspective. It's almost always math-solvable, so the optimal play is to just sit there and calculate the math. No personality required. Only problem is if the others are too dumb to be convinced by the math (very common).

The Merlin thing is cool but it only comes to a head once, after a 45 min game, and it's a coin flip.

Smaller studios and indies don't even have in-store sales for that reason. AAAs have the volume to make up for the tiny margins but it's still such a crazy, inefficient system. I'm definitely not crying that much for the AAAs though. I just want to see that willingness to spend money on games go to something better.

All games are digital so all you can choose is which disk it's downloaded onto, your hard drive or the one with some art on it. If you really want the art then fine but it's no more physical than than the hard drive.

Meanwhile, the dev gets at most $15 from your $60 purchase, while gamestop continues to churn the used sales for $30 profit each, which despite being an absurdly high margin still doesn't come close to saving their decrepit outdated business.

I'd rather lose the $12 so the dev can get triple the money from my purchase instead of dumping into the giant dumpster fire that is gamestop. Not to mention the frequent digital sales which defeat any trade in benefits, and the free return policies on Steam and Itch. (Side note: buy on itch.io so the dev gets 100% of the money.)

Game streaming though, at least PSNow on PC is pretty cheap. I pay $45 for access to around 600 games every three months.

I played AC:O on project stream for like 8 hours. It was honestly very impressive and worked really well for AC. After 5-10 mins you really forget it's a stream.

But then I played a local game and remembered what 1080p 60fps is really like. It's not comparable at all. If you just have some crappy laptop, then the streaming is awesome for sure. But I have a PC that can run things so it's not worth it.
