I've said it a few times now, but it's a shame that this is going to kill a great series, because the game is rather fun. They just shot themselves in the foot by rushing it out with a mediocre roster and bad graphical/audio quality.

Can you guys detail how it works? Is it over Skype or something? I was thinking about tutoring English online but know little about it. Any details would be appreciated.

At the one that I work at, you essentially log in to a unique client during your shift (or whenever, but you're less likely to get sessions when floating unscheduled and you don't get paid for just being logged in if you aren't scheduled) and if you get a request, you get a popup notification that gives you 15 seconds to accept or reject the initial request. If you accept, you can see what type of problem the student has. I tutor in English, Social Studies, Psychology, and Technology, so there's a pretty wide range of issues that I run into.

If you accept the request at that point, you're taken into what is essentially a live chatroom with a student, which includes a Whiteboard that both parties can write on, and the ability to share files in realtime so they can see any work you do on them. Something like that is very helpful in English sessions which tend to include a lot of proofreading, so you can highlight issues that you run into and discuss them with a student.

There are other caveats, but that's the basic rundown of how it works.

I wrote a short story along these lines from personal experiences a few months ago. It ended with the main character committing suicide.

It was a decent story, apparently.

Would it be too much if I ask how those experiences affected you in the short and long term? And is there any reading material you'd suggest? If you want to share what you wrote too, that'd be cool but you don't have to.

I also wrote a story that ended with the main character's (suggested) suicide, btw. It was apparently decent back when I wrote it.

I wouldn't be opposed to sending it to you at some point later on or something, but not right now since I'm planning to go to bed fairly soon.

For what it's worth, I think my writing is honestly pretty terrible and I just do it for fun in my free time. Two of my friends read it and both enjoyed it, though, so that's...something, at least.

It's a great game dragged down by either laziness or a lack of budget, or both.

In terms of gameplay, it's a blast to play and is up there for one of the most fun MvCs. There's a ton of freedom with your combos and most characters got some fun new tools to mess with.

On the other hand, everything else is a mess.

The graphics are obviously a mess with most of the characters looking weird at best, if not outright ugly. There are a few that look alright, and a lot of the effects on the moves look really cool, but for the most part the game is ugly as hell.

I haven't touched story mode yet, but I hear it's pretty atrocious.

The voice acting is confusingly bad, with some substitutions being weird (Laura Bailey being replaced by Ashly Burch...eugh.) and even most returning voice actors just seemingly like they don't care that much. This one is pretty odd to me considering that it doesn't seem THAT hard to get slightly better work from talented VAs, but it must have been something going on with the director or just a lack of time that forced them to rush it out.

The DLC policy is nauseating considering that they announced that some major characters would be DLC well ahead of the game's release.

And of course, the roster itself sorta sucks. There are a few good picks, like Jedah, but for the most part the roster is just confusing. There are so few newcomers, a lack of females, and even the returning vet picks are bizarre. They gave Ghosts and Goblins as many reps as Street Fighter? Nemesis returned over Wesker? Capcom fan favorites like Vergil and Phoenix Wright got axed for nobodies like Spencer and Firebrand? There are just some very odd picks on the roster that make almost no sense to me.

If the game fails, it probably deserves it, but at the same time, I wouldn't even call it a bad game. It's very fun to play, but there are so many other issues that bog it down that I'm not really surprised that the sales are tanking. It'll be a shame if this kills the series, which seems decently likely at this point, because it's quite fun to play.

Off the top of my head...

King of the Hill had a perfect finale. It's a lot of why I'm so worried about a potential revival, that show ended perfectly.

House had been fizzling out for a while, but the finale itself was strong. The only issue was that they couldn't get Cuddy back, but I think the actress just refused?

Futurama had like, four episodes that were written as series finales given its status of getting canceled and revived over and over, and all four were honestly pretty great. That show was really good at series finales.

Ultimately, a pretty big chunk of them are still very anti-gay from what I've seen. Most will claim that they don't care and that it's a done issue, but will absolutely take any chance they can to push any anti-LGBT agenda that they can.

It's why I can't support the party as a whole even though a chunk of my stances are pretty much in the middle. The party is ultimately still very anti-LGBT and I'll never support a party like that. Until they change, they'll never get my vote.

Well, the thieves may have just screwed up. The truck was predictably a disaster with the whole front caved in, and the tools were stolen after all, but there was a strip of pictures left in there of a woman and a child, that may have been related to one of the perpetrators. We're trying to identify the woman in particular to see if we can figure out who did it.

They also left a bunch of snacks behind and spilled soda everywhere on the inside, so we think they left in a hurry, possibly after wrecking the thing given the state of it.

Well, they found the truck, around 30 miles from here, and wrecked, of course. Surprisingly a lot of his stuff was still in the thing, and I'd imagine that having the remains will help with the insurance claim. My parents haven't seen the damage yet but it's evidently pretty bad, which isn't surprising in the least.

A fifth incident from the same night has come to light, and this one was at least somewhat caught on camera. Seems it was a group of four adult men, so the teenager theory seems to have gone out the window.

That car was actually found somehow, too, but it was stripped down and the valuables were stolen, as expected. I'd be stunned if my dad's truck wasn't in the same situation, but hopefully the perpetrators can be caught at the very least.

Evidently so. He just leaves them in the cupholder, apparently. Our town is small enough that it's very rare for anything like that to happen, especially when getting to the truck to even find out takes going a bit off the road and onto our driveway to even try.

He definitely shouldn't have left them there, but it's pretty shocking for something like that to even happen. Crime in general is fairly rare here.

....Why would you do something as foolish as leaving the keys to your vehicle where any old person can come up and take them? Small town or not... that's just not smart.

I can't really defend it. Evidently he's been doing it without a second thought for over a decade and has never had an issue, but yeah, it's pretty dumb.

I'm not thinking so after hearing from the neighbors, given that other cars were stolen and various items were robbed from others. It seems that in some capacity, a group was searching cars in the area, but it's tough to say how organized they were.

Blows my mind that something like that would happen in my sleepy town, though.

It appears that whatever happened was a bigger deal than I had thought. Four people in the area had cars stolen last night, and several people had items stolen from cars, including a computer from someone down the street.

My dad was thinking that it was a random occurrence, but it's seeming like a bit more than that. I can't see just random teenagers or something doing all of that.

We've been thinking along those lines, but no one should have known about the keys. He doesn't drive the truck too too often and is sure he didn't mention it to anyone, unless they really looked into the truck when no one was looking.

And yeah, I don't think they'll find it intact at this point. I agree that it's likely been stripped down already in all likelihood.

Not terribly likely. Our town is really small, and I believe there are only a few traffic cams in the whole town. If the thief is smart at all, I kinda doubt they'd drive by any of those since they're really easy to avoid.

Well, nothing has come up from the police yet. It's seeming fairly unlikely that we'll get it back, and there are several tools that my dad had for work in there that are likely gone, which he estimates total around $700 and likely won't be replaced by insurance.

I keep thinking back and the only thing that I can think of in terms of seeming suspicious was around 7:30PM last night when I heard a noise around my garage and went to investigate, but didn't see anything. It's possible someone was scouting us out at that point?

I only watch that show very casually, but the last season with the berries and the election stuff seemed insanely dull. It felt like it was trying to be a drama without having any of the tools to pull that off.

Also I felt like axing the old principal entirely was a disappointment and I hope she returns in some capacity. I like the smarter characters like her and occasionally the mayor to balance out how stupid everyone else tends to be while those two occasionally get sucked into the stupid antics themselves.

I did happen to catch tonight's premiere, though, and it seemed decent.

I'd say the only episode that really does the "deep thoughts" thing is episode 3 with the psychiatrist. Episode 2 had it a bit, but a lot of the focus was on the characters just handling the fallout of the divorce rather than anything super deep.

Every episode since 3 has been back to standard zany adventures, even though I personally wasn't a huge fan of 4. I don't really know why people are so down on this season as a whole, because it's pretty much the same great R&M with a slightly larger overall arc that's only taking a small bit of the focus.
