I wouldn't say there was nothing if you don't care about Smash, that's simply incorrect. There was little, but Nintendo also just does a short direct and not a presentation. The 20 minutes we got were really great and had a solid amount of content considering its length.

Inkling, but that one was revealed in the announcement trailer.

- They showed a new game called Daemon X Machina
- Xenoblade 2 DLC
- Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee info, mostly stuff we knew
- Super Mario Party (new Mario Party for Switch)
- Some Fire Emblem Switch footage
- Fortnite free for Switch now
- Montage with a bunch of games coming, a few somewhat big, mostly small

That gave me everything I ever wanted (except Toad who is still Peach' B-move)

Having to unlock everyone but the original 12 was probably the best part. I've hated how unlockables have become almost nonexisting in recent years, but having to unlock 50+ characters sure changes that. Of course, if it's something like in Mario Kart 8, then unlocking everyone means pretty much nothing.

That said, Prime 4 is up there, so this has potential to be a fantastic show. Everything is else looks awesome too.

I actually really liked what I saw. Had this been the next mainline games, then yeah, I would've been super disappointed, but it's not and that's the thing to remember here. Besides, we've waited two years for new mainline games before, we can do that again.

Even if these are made mostly go try to grab the Pokemon GO audience and get them to take a look at the Switch, it honestly looks good for what it is. I can understand being disappointed that only gen 1 Pokemon are included, but the idea is pretty much to revisit Pokemon Yellow in modern times with Pokemon GO mechanics, so it makes sense. And to everyone tired of Kanto and gen 1, then be happy it's getting the focus here in a spinoff rather than mainline RB remakes.

This is a much cooler spin-off game than most Pokemon spin-offs, and people really need to remember that they are just spin-offs.

I don't think Mario was weaker in 2013 than expected though, I just think Vivi was stronger than expected.

Crono could make for some great discussion given the right matchups after how extremely good Chrono Trigger looked last time, we'll see how it translates.

I don't even think Mario had a bad showing in 2013 at all. Sharing fanbases in three ways mattered a lot and I really don't think anyone could hold him down more than Ganondorf could without beating him. Perhaps Samus, but that's it then. That plus low votals and rallies put him in a ridiculous spot. The bracket was designed to make him look bad.

I mean, everyone picked Mario without even thinking about it, but I really don't think it's too surprising in hindsight. I suppose FFIX got better over the years.
