this game sounds bad

I've just decided I'm never going to play the crossbell games

not adding at least some trails in the sky -style barebones english voice acting was a mistake. I'm a weird subs-only-anime/dubs-only-video game unicorn

edit: except for Yakuza I guess

surprisingly good for a spin-off. feels like it was made for an anime adaption.

they're all kinda boring and problematic in different ways in the first game tbh

the trailer does make it seem like it's going to be her, or they're going to fake us out and have them somehow all become blank panthers. like not officially, but through like suits or something.

walking speed was an issue but I don't think it was a problem

elden ring and botw both have immersive open worlds that can be empty/boring, but the gameplay is such that most players will want to keep playing to "see what's over this hill" or "go investigate that thing in the distance." usually but not always the game will reward you (with a catacomb or a korok seed at least). these rewards generally feel important (even the korok seeds for most of the game I'd argue).

games like horizon don't have anything you can see in the distance and they really do just rely on you wanting to open the map, make a highlighted auto-route grand theft auto style, and check this icon off your list. it's possible find something "naturally" if you turn off all of your map icons, but it feels random when this happens as opposed to a well-designed map. and if you do find something/climb to the top of a mountain or whatever, you will get a weapon you don't need or a part that you've probably already gotten before and will get again ad nauseum.

My life has been really sucky lately too with family stuff and I've also been struggling. So you're not alone! Good job being active.

I highly recommend therapy if you can afford it. Helps me a lot.

The Horizon devs are the ones who went on Twitter to complain about how Elden Ring had bad UI when it fucking crushed them in sales, lol. They're a salty bunch.

This was absolutely laughable considering not only the sales argument but the fact that they were just plain wrong. They were trying to virtue signal a point about "quest accessibility" to cover up the fact that Elden Ring actually has a world that players want to walk around in and explore without being told exactly where to go and putting a billion markers on your map. They were mad that there's more interesting story and lore in one two-second throwaway line of dialogue in Elden Ring than in a 6 minute long exposition dump in FW.

I think forbidden west is an extremely bad game from a pure game design perspective

• extremely cluttered UI
• huge world map, but it's devoid of natural landmarks
• none of the skill tree is useful
• enemies are mostly damage sponges
• infinite trinkets/junk to pick up and none of it is interesting

visually it's gorgeous but it's weirdly not fun. story wise it's passable and has a mini-mass effect 2 gameplay loop but it's not worth it.

if anything they made them worse!

It's funny that you say that about Daredevil because the Netflix Daredevil show is so brutally violent that it's gonna feel really awkward if they try to take these same characters and dial it back to whatever the TV equivalent of PG-13 is when they come out with the new Daredevil series

right. this already happened with hawkeye to a certain degree. I imagine the Daredevil series will be a similar level of tone-lightening. as long as daredevil is good, then it doesn't really matter (in my opinion)

that being said it's going to be hard for the new show to be better than season 1 or 3.

It's about five years old. That's one year less than the time between RE1 and REmake, and probably more by the time it comes out.

the difference being of course that you can play horizon zero dawn on the ps5 right now and it works and is essentially the exact same experience that they'll repackage and resell to us for $70 ($50 if they're merciful)

this might be an unpopular opinion, but there's really no need for any MCU character outside of deadpool to have an R-rated movie or a TV MA show

I guess violent superhero projects are having a moment currently (see The Boys and Invincible) but I really don't care to see a super-violent Wolverine/x-force film or a grimdark daredevil movie. I guess the exception might be Punisher, but I probably wouldn't watch a Punisher film no matter what anyway.

can't wait for Kingdom Hearts 4 with Star Wars and MCU worlds!!!!!
