there's absolutely no way mccarthy/moore actually called that qb run. that's gotta be an ad-lib by dak who didn't realize how much time would go off the clock. mccarthy probably called for the pass to the outside/if it's not there throw it out. dak HAD to have ad-libbed the run in a moment of panic.

my "support" of djokovic I alluded to earlier was mostly the fact that all of the exemption/subsequent drama is politically motivated / government flexing its "strong border" stance before an election

he should've been denied at the outset. if the australian government had issues with the exemption, they should've handled it in a private way, not through sending him to a detention hotel and turning it into a huge thing. the whole situation has only galvanized anti vaccination sentiment at a time when Australia is actually loosening its lockdowns.

from a completionists perspective, playing all of the characters' story modes was a kind of miserable experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

as far as fighting game spinoffs go it's not terrible. yes, it's a contrived sequel but the characters are for the most part accurate to the source material. labrys is a mixed bag. I think Ultimax is significantly better.

I don't know. 95% of the time they were extremely easy, but that other 5% of the time a boss/strong enemy would spawn near the crystal and wreck it extremely quickly. And this is with levelling it up too.

I know, I know git gud. But again, my issue isn't necessarily with ambushes/strong enemies but the imbalance of it being a cakewalk and then losing out of nowhere.

Also! (and here I am admittedly just complaining for no good reason) I hated how setting lock-on to automatic is the right play EXCEPT for the maps where you had to "destroy all the crystals," where it becomes a nightmare to play. It just required me to go into and out of the settings menu a bit too much.

I played Ys IX on the Switch, because it was on sale. The performance issues there were far from minor. Maybe that's on me for playing it on the inferior console, but also, I played Ys VIII on there and had no issues.

To be more specific, the horde battles/tower defense sections are extremely busted from a challenge standpoint. Combat is never hard, but I did find the camera/auto-aim system extremely difficult to manage, which ended with my tower being destroyed in literally one or two attacks (on hard).

Also I just didn't buy the aesthetic. Liked the movement options but I think it's ultimately a failed experiment.

by YS standards it's a 9, but in general there's nothing here we haven't seen before

I always use characters based on their importance to the story / keeping them all balanced

absolutely hated it. can't stand touch screen movement and the game lacks any sort of charm or spark. the nier-esque cutscenes were kind of interesting. the music is among uematsu's most derivative.

I actually love Skullface's voice acting/voice actor (admittedly, such a lust for revenge whoooo is a bad read). It's just his character overall that kind of sucks

Dread gets better, but it never really feels great in my opinion. I too had issues with exploration and how weirdly on rails it feels. I think the game in general has issues with progression: It feels like Samus plays the same the entire time (until the screw attack, which basically just eliminates all challenge in the combat except for the final boss).

Yeah, I would say that FFXV feels rushed but "complete." Meanwhile, MGSV is simply missing an ending act.

ground zeroes is such an aggressively dark tonal shift from peace walker. it works better as the "tanker chapter" of phantom pain, and not at all as its own narrative/story in my opinion. the torture porn is completely unnecessary, but I'm generally down with the idea of skullface/xof/zero/big boss origin story.

there are certainly major issues with phantom pain (skullface's characterization, the sexy zombie women, code-talker, the parasites) but I'd be willing to forgive most of them if the game was actually finished. even then though the game's over-reliance on tapes and the weird mission-based structure would prevent it from getting a higher score.

yeah, as a casual fan reading the wikipedia summary I was like "that doesn't sound too bad," but I imagine it is executed poorly
