Whole life insurance tends to be a scam, get term if you need to leave enough money for your wife/kids to pay off a mortgage and get the kids through college. If you outlive your term insurance, then you lost all those premiums, but at least your family wasn't screwed if you died. You got to go in thinking of life insurance as insurance, not some legacy gift guaranteed to pay out.

They make whole life insurance sound that way, a guaranteed insurance that will pay out, but if you crunch the number, the added premium you pay on top of the cost of insurance would probably be better off just being invested into the market for your wife/kids or thrown into your own retirement fund.

If you have little debt and a strong history of on time payments, you'll have a high credit score. Since I'm not buying a car or house anytime soon, I abuse my high FICO score to get sign on bonuses from credit cards when I need to make a big purchase, like a mattress. Then I keep those cards open to have a high available line of credit and making my utilization small, helping my credit score which will usually get me insta approved for a new card.
Whole thing is called churning, and if you have free time and a spreadsheet to keep it all organized, it saves you a few bucks.

Have not used my debit card to buy something in months, only keep it to get cash once in a while. I keep the card locked with my app and someone was still able to get my debit card numbers and try to make a purchase. Got a notification saying I had to unlock my card if I wanted to make that purchase. Reported the card stolen and got a new one, will never use this card at all except for atm cash, but I think my old card got skimmed at the atm, maybe. Thank goodness for the whole locking card thing.

Use credit card for everything and just pay it off in full every month. You earn some points that can used for cash back and it's the bank's money, not your money. They have more incentive to investigate and get that money back if there's fraud involved.
