The fact that everyone thinks they are an expert about what's going on is really bad too. So many people are throwing around numbers and interpreting how they want in order to spread fear, false hope, whatever. That contributes to the other situations. One guy posts that half the population will die and we will be locked in our homes like prisoners and some people take it as the gospel and are out panicking.

Tests will show a lot more people infected, but that doesn't mean deaths are suddenly going to skyrocket. I mean it's not like there are hundreds of untested people out there dropping dead in the US.

In my complex people will put clothes in the dryer around 7 and leave it in there all night and wait until the morning to get it. I work swing so I do my laundry around 3 am, if there are clothes left I will take them out, use the dryers, then put it back in.

Actually there was an update, Reno casinos don't have to close completely, just follow strict guidelines (every other machine shut down to give space, no more than 3 to a card table, constant disinfecting by cleaning staff). Bars and dining areas still have to close.

Reno just announced all casinos are to close. I work at one about an hour outside Reno and we aren't under their jurisdiction but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. No word on if employees will be compensated, probably up to each individual owner.

If I could've just finished this week out I could've used PTO and been set through April.

Just got to work, everything still open. The Governor of Nevada released a new set of guidelines for any casinos choosing to stay open. All machines must be disinfected at least every other hour. No more than 3 to a card table, they used to sit 6 to 8. No self-service buffets, we don't have one anyway.

I went to the dollar store this morning, stocked up on some extra food in case I have trouble finding what I want at the grocery store Thursday. I am good for about 3 weeks right now.

I went to my local Dollar Tree this morning. They were actually pretty well stocked, only completely out of one item (take a wild guess). Good thing I didn't need that any of that and was there to stock up on cheap food. I did pretty well, got about three weeks worths of dinners and bread just in case my payday grocery store run doesn't go so well Thursday.

I work at a hotel/casino. As of yesterday we were still completely open, it could change today being Monday. The management has already said we aren't closing anything until we are forced to. I don't even know how a closure would work since we have different parts. Are they forcing hotels to close anywhere? If not we'll still have guests staying there (some are pretty much permanent guests who basically live there). We have quite a few people who live in our RV resort as well, would they be forced to hitch up their trailers and leave?

We have two restaurants, the fine dining one could be closed since it's dine-in only, but our regular diner makes alot on to-go orders so they could keep going carryout only. The bars and casino are the biggest question, those are highly unnecessary right now. I work cleaning and nighttime housekeeping so as long as rooms are occupied and people that order takeout will still use the bathrooms they'll still have a need for me.

I'm really hoping something happens by this weekend, this weekend is supposed to be our annual Basque getaway and tournament. A couple hundred elderly Basques mostly from California coming over for 3 days. Please someone high up needs to say this can't happen right now.

Now that most of the kids are home for a few weeks parents think it's vacation time. Our hotel has many families staying.

Which makes the food and TP hoarding even better, let's fill our house up, then leave for a week or two.

I turned down a job from one of my regular clients, which I really hated to do because she pays well and it's always easy work. She flies international at least three times a month and I just didn't want to be exposed to that. She was understanding though. I really hope she doesn't find someone else to do it and realizes I suck.

I don't have kids but I was curious how the whole school thing would work if they are out until summer, which basically means school year over. Will they have to repeat the grade they were in? Will they go to the next one even though they wouldn't be ready for it? Will we see a whole generation of kids that don't graduate until they are 19?

I read that Wynn is still paying while they are off, hopefully MGM will follow suit. They need to set that precedent so all gaming establishments do the same.

I'm going to check mine first thing in the morning. It hasn't been completely ravaged, at least it wasn't two days ago. Not looking for TP or cleaning supplies though, I'm good with those, I'm seeing how they are with cheap food. I may have to get some stuff there because I'm dreading my payday shopping on Thursday, better pick up what I can if they have it.

As a casino worker I'm getting really concerned. Our management said we will only shut down if forced to but that seems like it's only a matter of time. There are thousands of casino workers here in Nevada, most of whom need their weekly pay.

Then again if our boss was nice and paid us at least something while we are totally shut I'll gladly go and sit at home and not interact with anyone.

All Nevada schools are now closed until April 6th. Their parents will take that as a sign to go out on vacation most likely. Our hotel will probably be full even though our casino is on the verge of closing by the end of the week.

We just went over the 20 case mark today, 5 in Reno, 1 in Carson City, and the rest in Vegas.

One of Nevada's district health managers made a statement telling people that hoarding bottled water and toilet paper is pointless. Says that there's no threat to the water supply and that COVID is a respiratory illness and has no digestive symptoms.

I started having some cold/flu symptoms last night. Runny nose, cough, sore throat, and I keep alternating between shivering and burning up. Not really sure what I should do about it, not like I'm going to be able to be tested.

Sounds like a run of the mill cold. As long as you are still breathing fine it shouldn't worry you. If you star being short of breath then you need to get checked.
