if you want to play the witcher, i would recommend just starting with the third for two reasons.

one, the studio has obviously improved technically with every title it has made
two, the story of 1 and 2 are not important to enjoy 3. i think 3 is more related to the books and the others are more of side stories

and to answer the poll more directly, the reason it's fun to play against one person in particular is the mind games, rock paper scissors situations, and trying out new random techniques to see how they fit in

they have so many 'aha!' moments, so many instants where you shout in joy or frustration, and then you can immediately get back up and make up for it

in my humble opinion, fighting games are fun if you can find someone of equal skill to play against

i've had a lot of fun with recent mortal kombat, injustice and street fighter games with one friend in particular. we'll both be terrible and gradually get better at similar rates

i think a great fighting game should be fun even when both players are at a pretty low skill level, which is where some otherwise good titles kind of trip up

the best part of mercs is imagining how fights will go and how abilities will function.

the worst parts of mercs are things that get in the way of that. to me, those are

1) huge character rosters with characters i don't recognize with huge JRPG/anime level feats

2) abilities that determine the outcome of the match on a metagame level rather than an imagination level

like, ones that straight up auto-KO characters rather than allowing voters to decide whether the ability would reasonably be able to do so

DDLC is severely overrated, both in quality and rally potential

there is a brilliant 15 minute segment in the middle when the author injects a surprisingly heartfelt monologue on depression, but you have to slog through too much to get there and everything afterwards is pretty much rote in a post undertale/homestuck world

i also doubt that DDLC's fanbase is anywhere close to undertale's in size due to the narrow, ecchi-focused nature of the game

that's 18 hours of 'do whatever the hell i want' all at once, which is basically infinity.

some good relationships can soak up all of your time, but once i started keeping a solid day to myself i became so much happier

so, on average, i'd estimate that i have about 25 hours of completely unstructured time a week
