You're clearly afraid of the vaccine.

This push to force this shot on people who don't need it is very suspect.

You think it's suspicious that people are promoting the single greatest weapon available for fighting the worst public health crisis in a century? Moreover, you think that is a sound rebuttal against being proven objectively wrong?

Waiting for Zeus to say that this is the worst idea in the history of existence

There's plenty of room for argument, but I'd be much more in favour of that than the flat "it becomes public domain after 75 years" thing that happens now (though it's gradually being made more lenient largely because of pressure from Disney, thanks to many of their IP's having broken the 75-year mark). Companies that are still actively using an intellectual property should not lose the rights to it, no matter how old it is. IP's that are not being actively used, on the other hand, should become public domain. It should be very easy to qualify for "actively using" a property, and some nuance would be needed to account for minor characters within a franchise that don't see much use (though such characters aren't likely to be that profitable to snipe, and because they're public domain, the original creator could still use them at will), but the bottom line is that I'd like to see everything ever created either remain available for purchase from the creator or be formally characterized as abandonware and made available for free.

Ultimately, the goal is to maximize the potential for preserving art. IP holders hoarding their works and not letting anyone have them ever is flagrantly against that.

On a similar note, schematics for car parts and other similar items should also become public domain once the manufacturer stops producing them. There's no excuse for obsolescence in a world where 3D printing exists; that concept exists purely to satisfy the greed of corporations and I therefore see no reason to humour it.

I doubt it legally makes any difference.

Being cousins rarely makes any legal difference, unless you're looking to get married in about half of the states in the US.

"Man's hubris will create his greatest undoing."

"Man did not create the universe. All he makes is but a shadow."

That's nice, but it doesn't change the objective, measurable fact that you are - and have always been - wrong about this. You know, exactly as people who know substantially more about this subject than you do have been telling you for months. What a surprise.

Ive had the coronavirus 3 times already and I will never go and get the vaccine.

If you want to let fear keep you from living your life in safety and comfort, I guess that's your prerogative, but you should know that that's a really dumb decision based on all available risk data.

"Morally correct" is a weird way to put it, but I would agree that pirating something that isn't available for official sale in any capacity isn't morally reprehensible. Heck, I'm in favour of the copyright on a given work expiring outright if the IP holder goes more than 10 years (give or take) without actively offering it (or a remake) for sale, especially now that the wonderful world of digital distribution means it's really easy to do that. If they aren't selling it, they can't claim any damages from piracy, which means there's no reason to be opposed to it.

If they are selling the product, though, not so much. That's just you deciding you're entitled to it without paying the asking price, which isn't defensible at all. Their product, their price.

Driver's licenses are to big an investment

For me, driver's ed consisted of a total of 24 hours of classroom time spread over two weekends (boring as hell, as one can imagine), followed by 10 hours of in-car education (with a few hours between of personal practice). The road test and actually receiving my license then took about an hour and a half total (including getting to and from the DMV). Calling that 40 hours of total investment seems pretty reasonable, plus several hundred dollars (between the driver's ed program and the cost of the license itself).

That wrapped up over 6 years ago (could have been 16, but I didn't bother getting my license until I was almost 25), and I've done enough driving since then (and saved enough time/money in doing so) that 40 hours is utterly negligible. I really don't think that anyone that didn't *just* get their license actually feels that the amount of time and effort getting that license would be wasted if they never drove again after tomorrow, and even then, a shift like this would happen gradually and with plenty of advance notice such that people could choose not to invest the time if that investment wasn't going to be worthwhile. The investment required to get a license is completely irrelevant.

Yeah, that math was a bit wonky.
I can't tell if people are trying to deny or justify this and what is worse...

Mostly, they're just settling for "it's not a matter of overt racists/misogynists choosing to pay PoC/women less for the same work" and saying that's good enough, rather than trying to get to the root cause of the statistical difference and face the much more difficult question of "what can be done to fix this?".

The average income in the US is 31k a year.

That's where your math went wrong. The whole point of this statistic is that black women make substantially less than the overall average income, on average. If you want to do that math, you need a specific average income stat for black women.

Thank you for bringing some sense to this topic, there are many factors outside of race that effect someone's wages so its disingenuous to just pull out the race card

So why do those factors differ?

@Kody Keir

That is generally the same thing as banning.

It's the same end result, but the process couldn't be more different. To ban something is to have it prohibited from sale by an external entity. To choose not to sell something is to exercise one's right to sell or not sell whatever one wants. Criticizing the former is pro-freedom. Criticizing the latter is anti-freedom. Why do these people hate freedom so much?

I'm more offended by the abominable sentence structure than anything else. Dude's got a lot to learn about brevity if he wants to be "witty" and "own the libs." This just comes across like an awkward 8-year-old trying to insult somebody but not being clever enough to do so without explaining their contrived logic for three minutes.

I also really have to appreciate the irony of saying "I don't give a s*** about feelings anymore." and then proceeding to rant about his feelings. Self-awareness is not exactly his strong point, it seems.

Zeus posted...
Pro-tip: If you're yelling, you've already lost the argument.

Not really. You generally hurt your chances of winning it, but "losing" requires actually being proven wrong and/or convinced otherwise, and yelling doesn't change the likelihood of that in any way.

The wage gap is such a stupid, massively debunked myth and it's really grating how it's still pushed.
Compare same job, same experience level and years, same hours worked, etc... and there is no "gap".

So then why does the difference exist?

If there are multiple sets of starter gear and the player will only get one of them and have to find the rest later, then absolutely include all the starter gear in the item log. Even if that's not the case, though, there's really no reason to treat the starter gear any differently from the rest of the items by not counting them. Might as well be consistent.
