So did he become belligerent and shove them out of nowhere, or did he get grabbed and shove them once theyd already instigated physical contact? Seems like you skipped a step there. Coincidentally the one where the cops did something they shouldnt have.

The event had been over for over an hour. All the lights were off. They were lawfully asked to leave and he refused. He then became belligerent and shoved officers. This couldve simply been avoided if they just left and didnt escalate by shoving officers. I dont think taser was the appropriate response because you couldve easily gone hand to hand and just escorted him out. But their use of force policy could be different

Yes, its normally for people to leave stuff when its over. You dont stay at a store when its closed for an hour after

You do, however, often stay at events for an hour afterwards when youre literally PART OF THE EVENT. Have you ever like been to human gatherings? People often stick around and chat, celebrate, even play music. There is literally no reason whatsoever this should have been happening. Why were the police grabbing him in the first place?

No, you didnt add any of that. You conveniently didnt mention most of it. But thats WHAT HAPPENED. And you seem perfectly okay with that. Therefore seems like you think its pretty normal and alright bud.

And ultimately if you hate cops it doesnt matter what happened. But if you want to get technical, there could be a legal curfew in place especially if its a high school game. Also, if a lawful order was given to disperse and you refuse, that could be obstruction, breach of peace, unlawful assembly, etc..

Mmmm delicious boot mmm he loves it

Whats actually happening here is that if youre determined to defend cops no matter what, it doesnt matter what happened. It DOES matter what happened to the people who hate cops; do you think we go around pointing at every thing every cop does every day as an issue? No. Because the situation matters. Ive been pulled over by cops for registration. Did I think the cops did anything wrong there? Nope. Because of what happened.

Meanwhile you dont give a shit what happened, youre going to defend the cops no matter what, no matter how far you have to stretch or what you have to make up.

Hey quick question, have there been any health complications from all the boot polish youve swallowed?

You are wrong. I never once defended Chauvin in any way and you joining in to say that I did just makes you a liar as well.

And the police act as security for large public gatherings to ensure public safety, they don't somehow become employees of a school and especially not a band director because they are working security at an event.

How can I be a liar about my belief youre lying? Thats not how lying works Tenlaar. I never said you did, just that Im 55 percent certain I remember that. So what am I lying about, ya silly Billy?

They also dont suddenly get to tell people to do their jobs under threat of arrest and/or tazing, but here we are!

Basically what youre saying is that any large gathering, the cops can walk up to anyone and tell them to do anything up to and including how to do their job or to stop doing their job, and you have to comply or they get to arrest you, and harm you if you resist. Even though youre hurting no one and everyone around you is trying to stop the cops. And the people that they are there to secure dont matter at all and have no say in their actions at all.

How exciting. What a cool stance with no fascist overtones.

Wow, sure is a lot of stuff I didnt see in the video I watched. Wheres this hour long video at? I couldnt see any of the shoving because of the crowd of people trying to stop the officer from pulling the directors arm off, and all I could I hear was a woman yelling about how fucked up it was that they were doing this in front of the kids, so I didnt hear him refusing.

Probably also just a coincidence that the director is black. In Alabama.

We absolutely do know that the away team band director did not have the authority to refuse direction to stop playing from the police and security who were trying to clear the stadium after the game was over. We know this because he's a fucking band director.

You realize if the police are security.. theyre security for.. the schools? The schools playing the game? The schools the band director works for? The band director that would have been instructed by the coordinator of the event, who works at the school the cops are doing security for?

I love this idea that because the cops are doing security they have absolute authority over every single possible thing, and if they walk over and tell you how to do your job you have to obey or they get to arrest you. And if you dont let them they get to taze you. What a cool, sane world to life in.

By that token you have no evidence that he wasnt in the right and didnt have authority. So your point is fucking what exactly? Did you just argue for this long about literally nothing?

How is my take hilarious? My "take" is simply what happened: the game ended, police and security started clearing out the stadium, they realized the bands were still playing, they asked the bands to stop playing, the home team band stopped, the band director of the away team refused.

The band director and apparently a bunch of other people allegedly refused, and then the cops went after the band director while literally everyone around tried to stop them. Clearly the cops must have been in the right here and it went down exactly like the cops claim!

Did you watch the video, Tenlaar? Might want to do that before you keep going. Especially after your whole screed about how I hadnt read the article and thus wasnt worth paying attention to.

Upon looking up the video and a an entirely different article, your take on this is even more hilarious.

Birmingham police claim that Mims refused to tell his band to stop playing while officers were attempting to get people to leave the stadium following the end of a Thursday night football game. The videos show a group of people, along with Mims, loudly arguing before a police officer uses a taser on Mims torso. In front of the kids?, a woman screams in the clip, followed by several shouts from band members.

So.. once again. What do you think happened here exactly?

My guy. I read the same account everyone else read. The one lacking many details.

Im asking you about the version of events you seem to have in your head where the cops walked up calmly and went you have to stop playing but ALSO they were very worried about getting the crowd out, but also thats not why they asked him, and then the teacher just lost his mind and attacked them so they had to taze him.

Somehow youve taken my confusion about the picture your arguments have painted as confusion about the events as we know them so far. Possibly because you cant read, possibly because youre, you know. Tenlaar.

If someone was colonized by an aggressive fungus that takes control of the brain and makes you kill others, can they be blamed? If an animal gets rabies and goes wild, do you blame the animal?

I dont even agree that you cant blame those people at all because its not quite as all encompassing as those examples; I just think your answer completely sidestepped the question you were answering.

This isn't what any article says happened, they just say that the band was asked to stop playing. You are inventing the "urgently clear the band out" part.

You can't be serious with this. There absolutely is a difference between during the game and after the game while security is trying to clear the stadium. And you are also inventing the "the moment the game ends" part. Can you please stop inventing things and then responding as if those things are how it happened?

if the band was just asked to stop playing, how did it escalate to a tazing? Is the idea here that a cop walked over and said hey we need you to stop playing, no big deal and then this band teacher got enraged and tackled the cop? And, once again, if they didnt need them to clear out, WHY did they need to be asked to stop playing by the literal police?! The entire argument being made was well they were clearing the crowd out. Now youre like they only asked them to stop playing! Okay then. So Theres no good reason.

Let them be, or let the person in charge of the event that isnt armed with a gun let them know to stop playing. This isnt rocket science. Unless youre a cop I guess.

Police were there acting as security. There is no question that continuing to play after being told to stop by was wrong.

It is absolutely wild that youre acting like band continuing to play music is some sort of security issue that needed to be swiftly rectified.

They weren't playing at a football game. They were not there putting on a show. The game, and thus the show, was over. They were continuing to play after a football game when security was trying to clear the stadium and the other team's band had stopped. Why are you acting like you can't tell the difference between during a football game and after the game has ended?

A reason other than imminent danger to ask the band to stop playing is because they were trying to clear the stadium because the game was over.

Again, literally no reason for them to urgently clear the band out with the rest of the crowd. Not sure why you dont understand that. I cant tell the difference between during a game and when it ends because there isnt one. The moment the game ends isnt a magic switch that means everyone must immediately be evacuated by police, including performers. Its a process, and it doesnt require police to oust people.

If the fucking players decided to stick around for a bit and talk, high five, do a team chant, toss the ball around or whatever, do the cops need to go oust them from the fucking field? No! Of course not! Thats insane.

No clue why they kept playing music. It may have even been wrong to do so! Doesnt matter, did not require police. Shouldnt have led to a tazing. Wouldnt have happened if all cops werent, say it with me, bastards.

I mean. Ive seen numerous authority figures say hey that doesnt apply to you, thats for the people that arent literally the sanctioned entertainment set up to entertain. So yes?

If the cops came over and specifically said stop playing music (which there was NO reason to do), I can easily see a director saying no were actually supposed to keep playing. I dont have enough info on I say what happened next that led to any shoving, but it never should have gone there. At WORST the cops should have said alright carry on.

I cant think of a single reason besides imminent danger that the police need to ask a band at a game to stop playing music, even if the game had just ended. I was not aware the police coordinated entertainment at aloe to not events.

Yeah that would be pretty stupid of me to say, in a world where a band playing at a football game somehow doesnt belong there. Its sort of cute that you think their own school? Belong! Away game? NO BELONG though. Sadly thats not how anything actually works. They were there to do a show. When the show ends, bands do not generally flow out with the crowd.

Should they still have been playing music? No clue. We have no idea what they were asked to do or what the usual procedure is.

Did the cops need to come over and tell them to stop playing music? Absolutely not. Theres no reason whatsoever, because they arent part of the crowd and there was seemingly no pressing need for every single living soul to drop everything and leave.

You can, as a cop, literally arrest anyone for anything and if they show the slightest bit of not immediately doing everything you say and letting them arrest you for nothing then youre fucked. Or, going further, can shoot them dead. And further, then plant drugs on them to justify their original arrest.

Id think this was almost conspiracy level thinking, if it didnt happen literally all the fucking time.

I absolutely feel bad for (I.e have sympathy for) mentally ill murderers. They did a horrible thing because their brain is broken, and their life (and others) is over or ruined. That sucks. Being schizophrenic sucks. Murdering someone because your brain is telling you they are a demon from hell that wants to destroy you sucks. Doesnt excuse what they did but I can look at them and say that poor fucking bastard.

What I cant do is have empathy, because I cant understand and share their feelings of being so mentally ill that I murder someone.

As always on the internet: if youre going to correct someone, be right about it.

You can but it makes you look like a psycho if they murdered someone

Only if youve mixed up the words empathy and sympathy, which you obviously have.

No you can definitely feel sympathetic (I.e feel bad for them) for someone mentally ill.

incorrect correction, etc

Empathy actually means being able to understand and share the feelings of another, so everyone going empathy not sympathy, including you, is saying the opposite of what they mean to.

Fuck cops, but he's right. You said that even if there was evidence that the cops should be involved in the situation they would be wrong to be involved regardless.

I think you might have misspoke though?

I said no such thing lol. He snipped it out of context so it looks like I said cops are wrong unless proven right but theyre still wrong. But the first bit was about their actual actions once theyd begun intervening; that they shouldnt have tazed that guy. Theyre in the wrong unless evidence shows they were right to taze him. Essentially. I then said but even if thats the case, they were wrong to intervene at all in the first place. Essentially.

My belief is that they shouldnt have been involved at all. Thats the first place they went wrong. The second was, once they got involved, tazing the guy. Thats where Im open to further evidence showing it was warranted.

A reading of the original message and its context (everything else I said) shows thats what was intended; I guess it can be interpreted differently, but thats not really a reason for this dude to be adamantly acting like I said something I didnt, especially after I explained.

Im 59 lol. And only fairly good looking. Generally speaking when I talk about my life I dont expect people to believe me, because its gamefaqs/the internet, but I just happen to be a nerdy, lonely kid who grew up to be a nerdy, sexually active poly dude who is still here out of inertia and habit. People wont believe it but all I can do is tell the truth lol

No, that's not the story.

It is true. Not sure about his mental state. I didn't know he was using my neighbor's water until after the fact. However, there's no longer room to argue that he's just some innocent vagrant when he destroyed some of my neighbor's property. Regardless of how small the cost of one of those light bulbs may be, he doesn't have the right to do it regardless of whether he's homeless or not.

I've already addressed why I use the drone. I'll keep doing it.

And society shouldnt have the right to leave people suffering on the streets, mentally ill and breaking lightbulbs, for the sake of profit and power for the few. But here we are. Id count yourself lucky instead of posting about how scary it was on gamefaqs and bragging about your dumb drone.

So the story here is a homeless guy wandered over, you got your drone out, you didnt see him doing anything, then later your neighbor told you he lingered around so long that he both took a shower with someones hose and also unscrewed a lit bulb and threw it on the ground?

Assuming any of this is true, which it isnt, seems like the guy is slightly mentally ill. Good on you for letting him hang out so long that he got to clean up a little, and its a shame we have to pay for tiny lightbulbs because our society refuses to take care of the unhoused or address mental health.

Maybe next time dont bother with the drone though because its fucking stupid.

He wasn't "doing absolutely nothing." He destroyed some of my neighbor's property. There's no longer room to argue that he was some innocent vagrant who just needed a shower. Based on what was known last night? Sure, that was a possibility. Not any more, though.

Wait what property did he destroy, I thought he just smashed some glass on the ground that he was apparently carrying around in his pocket, and made some mysterious marks on concrete. So he unscrewed some bulbs and then threw them on the ground? Or did he just punch the lights with his bare hands

I actually try to remain as unattractive as possible for that reason.

I'm already ugly, but keeping a beard and moustache helps make me look older.

I dont try to look unattractive, but I have to keep at least three days facial growth at any given time or else I like 19. I get carded way more than I really should as it is.

oh I totally agree! I however dont agree that women need to or generally do notice a homeless person doing absolutely nothing outside and SEND THEIR DRONE OUT TO SPY ON THEM and then make a gamefaqs topic about their scary close encounter.

Are you that insecure about consoles vs PC that you have to start a debate about it in a topic about someone asking for help?

Get over yourself

You understand the purpose of gamefaqs is personal entertainment right? Insecurity has nothing to do with it. Schaudenfraude, maybe.
