I mean, in battle tempering, yeah, but pre-battle/results tempering as a mind control effect for the battle/next week could be interesting.

I think it'd be more interesting to throw in some of the Primals from ff14 than some of the characters. At least you can judge the primals in a way because everyone has seen their general powers at various tiers.

Hmm, another character that could be considered, Jason Frudnick & Eve (Both with blaster rifle, Jason with grenades/land mine consumables, eve also with the I-HIX) and either Sophia-3 NORA MA-01 with Gaia system or Andreia NORA MA-02, with specific things locked on it, like a mix of blaster master 1-2 guns (no hyper beam from 1) and the accel blast locked behind upgrade/activation as a pre-battle, with it unlocking x minutes into the battle. (first accel blast pre-battle gets fired 10 seconds before the fight begins, burning most all danger on the map from side to side, and will ruin anyone's day that was on the map before second 0.)

Passive upgrade - backup pilot and Fred. this allows jason or eve to fight on foot, while the other pilots MA-01 or MA-02 (as choice in peacetime).

Upgrade - Unchain DDF - this must be your first ability in a combat. declare either pre-battle or SOB. pre battles become start of battles. start of battles become in battle actions and thus potentially dodgable.

Hmm, any games that have came out in the past year (beta or actual releases or otherwise) that you would consider good enough to be used in mercs 5. I know I've been having fun with Hades, and Zagreus would be an interesting build.

This was so one sided it's not even funny. Supermen

You'd need either Doctor Strange, or someone with the scientific knowledge, tools, and mental strength to be willing and able to MODIFY THE SUN. This is a very binary situation, it's not can someone beat a million supermen over time, it's can someone nullify a million supermen at once with their reasonable skills and knowledge. Because if they even miss one of them, they lose.

Looking at that, i'd say it either goes to Rick or Indy. Indy is just as good at surviving deathtraps, finding tools to make up for what's missing, and has more than enough agility/luck to survive the hour, and also quite the right hook to deal with whoever's annoying him, which can't really be taken away.

Looking at that post you made kamek, if planet dies, i'd put that as a Gidorah wins, due to the dead in thirty seconds clause on dio (no planet, sun's right there). In reality, without zod, and that rather good explanation, i'd put it at a push without zod around.

Hmm, this looks interesting, it's reasonable enough that they can shut down the nuke, but would have to be at a disadvantage first in finding the person (and if they stay in a group, they won't)

You know, thinking on grigori and other edge case guys, I'd actually like to see "Big" tags set for mercs that don't really fit into lets say the old design high bracket of 6-7 (because dante solos), but are too powerful to just be a 5, where "Big" means they take up 2 slots if ran in their bracket or below it, but are only a one slotter in a higher bracket. But I guess the more important ting is to see what rules get posted "Soon"(tm)

I could see crono having heroic sacrifice (AND) a secondary one that lets him come in a few minutes late to the battle if said heroic sacrifice is done (only in mid/high). They had to find a replacement doll and swap it after all.

It didn't help that Crono was just very VERY average, being one self trained swordfighter with minor magical abilities where if i remember right, a huge chunk at 3-4 was a swordfighter with some sort of magic. You needed a fair amount to push yourself away from the pack, being a hero wasn't enough really to do so.

Out of interest and curiosity Kanzaris, Demi-Fiend vs Id. Because while seeing the Raiden vs Demifiend fight up, I was thinking that Id would have been a more reasonable data point, with Raiden and Demifiend having no real points of comparison due to the differences shown in the games.

I don't know too much about the TF2 vs class 7 but it should be interesting.

Yeah, was considering a comparative thing mainly DeathChicken, although I think Tidus has a chance given a better location, and thankfully Nemesis is good, but not amazing with the rocket launcher (and limited ammo). In watching the videos I did think of something amusing though, just because of how he just shows up EVERYWHERE.

Give him an ability that he thinks random/selected target on a team is a member of STARS, and will hunt them down in the week, whether it is in the main fight, or any side topics that show up. And he always knows where the merc is that week ignoring any stealth/cloaking/etc.

You know, I feel Tidus could have had a chance if 1. the map was more of a mess than just a big bridge, and 2. got the drop on Nemesis with magic. Between slow/haste/cheer, the ability to delay the enemies attacks, and the fact that Tidus is just faster, I think Tidus could have locked Nemesis to the floor in melee to the point that he couldn't do anything.

Some ideas i saw from optional bosses in epic battle fantasy 5, not sure on costs to balance or the like but i do like the idea of being able to

Pre/Start: All limit breaks/signature skill offensive ability (if no limit breaks) are forbidden
Pre/Start: All transformations/summons are forbidden
Pre/start: All stat modifying buffs used after this ability are negative up to a maximum of -80% stat reduction. Neither team realizes this.
Start: All characters that can have revival spells are active, revive at 1hp, all non-item based magic healing is negated. Both teams know of the revival, not of the negated healing magic.

The idea of having abilities that completely changes the field of battle intrigues me, forcing different potential arguments. Like how much does Dante lose if he can't devil trigger? Or a fight where no limit break styled overkill moves are available. Or how tactical can a team be if people can be hit by life and the like, but a single shot will knock them down again, and how long it would take to reorganize a team's actions, how long do they have?

Ideally, when I have time, I'd just build these into making ebf5 characters, as a Peacetime character replacement/upkeep increase for the week, and passive when rostered. Possibly including the final fight where you fight a cat known as god, but I haven't fought that fight yet.
