Take the time to explore all of the hidden caves, they often have useful items and even TMs. The Elite 4 is pretty tough if you're underleveled since they are designed to have actual strategies and competitive stat distributions. The virus would likely mutate faster, with some variants being strong enough to kill faster or beat out "natural" immunity even in previously exposed people. We would probably see waves of people calling in sick as we fluctuate in and out of these spikes and mutations, leading to complications in industry and supply chain much worse than we currently have. Hospitals would be overflowing even more with ER patients and we would have to prioritize some peoples' lives and health over others'. Since conservatives have already made it their mission statement to ignore COVID entirely, we're already seeing most of these things happen at a smaller scale that's just barely holding on because of the sensible part of the population actually doing things to combat the spread and socioeconomic effects of the virus.
