I was going to argue but then I looked it up on Google and you were definitely right.

Then I said "Is that not a coverup? Ok"

And imagine that's a "nice" ok. Because I had previously had a different definition of "coverup" in my head. We live in different places and say things with different connotations.

I'm not claiming to have more authority over the standards, but also I think the standards are weak. If it's the industry standard what are you going to do about it?

I think KDF involving TPM modules is going to be the standard soon.

Ok, so then you can just run it on a GPU (PBKDF2 is cracked via GPU)

It doesn't take as long as you think to crack a password up to 12 characters in length via any hash, just because A) People want to use short passwords, and B) servers don't want to allocate too much resources into it

People think they can have their cake and eat it too. TPM/isolated lockout mechanisms or go home.

So I was looking up how modern conventions remember passwords. ASP.NET, probably the single most popular database framework, stores a PBKDF2 hash of the password. That's a hash of a password. PBKDF2 was handily cracked by GPU attacks and ASIC attacks.

Storing hashes of a password might as well be storing it as plaintext. Rainbow tables exist. We need to rely on TPM, isolated lockout mechanisms, and stop re-inventing the hash function. No matter how clever you make it, it's a simple matter of "what system resources does it take for you to realistically attempt to decrypt", and "how many resources are you willing to allocate". Your attacker is willing to allocate 30,000 times more than that.

To be fair, Christianity itself kind of doesn't do that. For most of Christianity, the only real torment of Hell was the fact that everyone there is effectively removed from God's grace, which in and of itself is the worst torment any being can ever suffer.
I like to think that God was interweaved in the laws of nature in Christian lore, feeding his bias in to make something so chaotic habitable, so that when you remove him what was left is reality in its natural state, which is a recursion of the worst possible state. To me it gives it a much deeper logic behind it.

But yeah even Evangelicals don't like preaching the 9 layers of hell. There's nothing that detailed about heaven, because hearing about the 9 circles of holy ecstasy doesn't sound nearly as fun.

Unironically I'm a huge fan of modern Christianity lore. No other religion goes that hard on the magic unrelenting torture dimension. Other stories say "there's a bad place that sucks and ye get what you deserve", but only Christianity says there's an entire dimension that has reworked the laws of physics to be as tormenting as possible.

Hellraiser is the coolest revision tbh. I want more fiction like that.

Cthulu is cool too.

tbf, the air fryer does make the outside of said chicken a little cripsier... kinda like if you used the broil setting for a short while
Now you really have me thinking here.

If the air goes over it faster at 400f, it reaches 400f faster but it still only reaches 400f

And in an oven it reaches 400f, but slower because there's no wind chill effect, the heat distribution would be slower/even.

So it would be crispier on the outside due to just reaching that temp faster on the outside

Granted, they were the SAME as cooking in a normal oven so if you don't have a normal oven then an air fryer would be awesome for you
They're somewhere in between the quality of an oven and the ease/speed of a microwave.

I think at a larger scale you can pretty much forget about free will and look at people like a bunch of molecules in a complex soup. Just like how an individual electron may choose to jump around randomly, but as a group they usually only ever do one predictable thing.

Anyway I've seen bad socialists and good socialists. There is more diversity in socialist opinion than there is anywhere else. No one had a real common leader, and they all filled in the blanks themselves. That inevitably leads to people who are basically closer to genocidal Stalinists infecting the worker's rights socialists like cancer.

But yeah I'm not religiously devoted to capitalism, everyone obviously hates corporations, we obviously see how they put profits over all else, obviously constantly buying off the government. Are we really not smart enough, in this current day, to stop bashing rocks together? I see all the insanely complex technology we made but an effective method of government is too hard for us to grasp? And yeah, we might have bias, if you can define what bias is or what that means.

Once we find a way to get the rednecks on our side it's over. Kind of hard to do, but they are good people.

On that note, coming from someone who has worked with AI frameworks, I think the first ones to discover how to control people with AI will be the last party we have, destroying all our plans. Google

Also in DBH, they're all happy that they are free and they have an uphill battle fighting for equal rights... who's going to make new androids? The corporation just lost a huge profit motive. They are not making more of the same androids. Will the androids make more andoids? Will they make their own androids so they don't have to do menial labor? Are all the androids they have stockpiled up just going to walk around because they are humans now?

The whole problem is that the Androids were too smart and relatable. They could have wrapped that story up in a way that made more sense with an unconventional solution. People are nice, good, but it seems to me like in that universe the only conclusion that can be drawn is that the corporation needs to stop making their robots understand negative emotions and that was just a dark period in history where they made them too damn smart.

DBH was probably the best looking game I've ever seen.

The plot was alright, but I was kind of hung up on the fact that if a corporation was facing backlash for their robots gaining sentience and then warranting being treated like an equal, they would probably stop doing that before it got out of hand. Bad idea. Make them look like toasters and enjoy the work they do.
