https://www.livescience.com/water-into-metal-experiment.html

Unfiltered water can already conduct electricity meaning negatively charged electrons can easily flow between its molecules because unfiltered water contains salts, according to a statement about the new study. However, purified water contains only water molecules, whose outermost electrons remain bound to their designated atoms, and thus, they can't flow freely through the water.
Theoretically, if one applied enough pressure to pure water, the water molecules would squish together and their valence shells, the outermost ring of electrons surrounding each atom, would overlap. This would allow the electrons to flow freely between each molecule and would technically turn the water into a metal.

The problem is that, to squash water into this metallic state, one would need 15 million atmospheres of pressure (about 220 million psi), study author Pavel Jungwirth, a physical chemist at the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague, told Nature News & Comment. For this reason, geophysicists suspect that such water-turned-metal might exist in the cores of huge planets like Jupiter, Neptune and Uranus, according to Nature News.
But Jungwirth and his colleagues wondered whether they could turn water into metal through different means, without creating the ridiculous pressures found in Jupiter's core. They decided to use alkali metals, which include elements like sodium and potassium and hold only one electron in their valence shells. Alkali metals tend to "donate" this electron to other atoms when forming chemical bonds, because the "loss" of that lone electron makes the alkali metal more stable.
Alkali metals can explode when exposed to water, and Jungwirth and his colleagues have actually studied these dramatic reactions in the past, according to Cosmos Magazine. But they theorized that, if they could somehow avoid the explosion, they could borrow electrons from alkali metals and use those electrons to turn water metallic.

In their new experiment, described in a report published Wednesday (July 28) in the journal Nature, the team did just that. In the experiment, they placed a syringe filled with sodium and potassium in a vacuum chamber, squeezed out small droplets of the metals, which are liquid at room-temperature, and then exposed said metal droplets to a tiny amount of water vapor. The water formed a 0.000003 inch (0.1 micrometer) film over the surface of the metal droplets, and immediately, electrons from the metals began rushing into the water.
For the experiment to work, the electrons had to move faster than an explosive reaction could take place, Jungwirth told Nature News. And once the electrons zoomed from the alkali metals to the water, an incredible thing happened: For a few short moments, the water turned a shiny, golden yellow color. Using spectroscopy, the team was able to show that the bright yellow water was in fact metallic.
"Our study not only shows that metallic water can indeed be produced on Earth, but also characterizes the spectroscopic properties associated with its beautiful golden metallic luster," study author Robert Seidel, head of the Young Investigator Group at Humboldt University of Berlin, said in the statement. "You can see the phase transition to metallic water with the naked eye," he added.
"It was amazing, like [when] you discover a new element," Jungwirth told Nature

So you made it in your head he would not cooperate.
What then does shouting back at him do? The intent is to sit on his property until ???
Until what? What is the end goal when it is clear he refuses to cooperate and can just take one step and be beyond your reach.

Sounds like a waste of time.

And another thing. If they had left due to his request, highly possible his mood change not just because a different time, but he sees they respect his rights enough to take this route and come back later.
Also, warrant might mean more to the man who whether you wanna argue about it or not, thinks he is on his own property and has the right to tell them to leave.
But warrant says that he cannot anymore and he likely be more cooperative.

But again, this takes a highly trained person.

DP already said they won't break down his door, they need a warrant.

But my point is, they saw the gun, he said "yep i got a gun, get off my property don't fuck with me"

At this moment it should not have been protect ourselves and our authority but to deescalate to get the witness out of the fire line and consider the wife too.

And the way to deescalate was clear. Leave as the man requests. If needed, return with a warrant when the witness is not there in the line of fire.

Blame falls on those who could have just left when the man obviously wasn't going to answer any questions.

Infact, if this went the other way it would have gone like this:

1. Man screams, says go away

2. Cops sit there for awhile screaming back

3. After an hour man just turns and steps into his house

4. Police have to get a warrant anyways.

See, there is no reason to sit there as a cop. Either the man is just gonna go in the house and you need to get a warrant anyways, or it will turn into a firefight.

Why stay when the dude repeatedly said he will not cooperate?
You really think he just gonna change his mind?

But yea, he is also to blame for not stepping in the house, but cops really need to be held to a higher standard. Even with this, bigger blame is theirs.

But see, firefight option was absolutely stupid seeing there is a witness who followed him and wife in the house.

All your post reeks of is wounded pride.

A calm and calculating mind that didn't care about his authority being challenged but rather what is the best case for all involved would absolutely have left.

The wife even came out to prove it was the man's house. And the door being open he only had to take one step and the cops needed a warrant anyways.

So him standing there one foot away from being out of their reach saying he isn't gonna cooperate with answering questions, he has a gun, don't mess with him, there being an innocent in the line of fire if things go sour...

For the police, they absolutely should heed his request to leave his property. If there was a reason to get a warrant do so and come back and the man could even be in a better mood then.

But this takes actually considering the situtation and not getting upset when your authority is questioned.

But notice what makes you dislike this

So what you're saying here is that police should always back down when a suspect tells them to back down?

You literally have no concern that if a shootout occurs the witness civilian might get shot in the crossfire.
Infact the wife in the house is at risk as well when cops shoot. Might even be kids.

But oh my, he told us what to do!!! Can't have that!

They need a warrant if he goes in the house. He was at his doorstep and told them to go away.
Should been obvious he wasn't going to answer any questions and he even has a right to silence.

So even a cop who thinks this is a legal detainment should realize the best case scenario for everyone is to obey the property owner's request to leave and get a warrant if indeed there was actual reason to question and detain him.

Problem is this was basically like two idiots in high school with wounded pride. Leaving when someone is yelling at you and you feel you are in the right takes a big and intelligent man.
Police should be trained to be that kind of man and yet we find they are not.

In the end this was bad for both parties as both got fired upon.
Both parties had an easy way out but the irony is the blame is put on a citizen and not highly trained police.

Infact, the "witness" being there in the line of fire was very bad, and yet the cops escalated by firing a bean bag while that "witness" was there.
Absolutely ignorant.

Leave and get a warrant if that option was even possible.
If it wasn't too bad.

And ironically the same is said of the man. Had he just went in his house this likely never happened.

Why did he do this? I bet he has been harassed before.

Fyi kids are unvaxxed

https://deadline.com/2021/08/california- covid-cases-up-fifty-percent-spread- among-kids-1234807685/

New cases of Covid-19 in California rose about 10% over the weekend, a timeframe that often sees undercounts due to diminished testing on Saturdays and Sundays. The 10,356 new cases reported on Friday rose to a three-day daily average of 11,135 on Monday. (The state has stopped reporting daily cases on weekends and now reports a three-day lump sum on Mondays.)

That 10% rise on Monday followed a 39% one-day rise from Thursday to Friday of last week, making for a total 49-plus percent rise in new cases since just Thursday. More reliable measures of infection spread have also risen dramatically.

Providence Saint Johns Health Center in Santa Monica a city where approximately 80% of eligible residents are vaccinated is currently packed with Covid patients, according to a Monday New York Times report.

Numbers presented by L.A. County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer last Tuesday indicate there has been a fivefold increase in new Covid patients under 12 years old. (For perspective those under 12, who are not eligible for vaccination, make up about 15% of the countys population.) While raw case numbers were low relative to county residents ages 12 to 49, data indicating the spread of infections are not.

In the two-week period ending July 18, there were 89 cases per 100,000 people age 0 to 4 and 112 cases per 100,000 age 5 to 11. While there were no pediatric Covid deaths recorded in the county for the period from June 18 to July 18. Ferrers presentation to the board indicated that the hospitalization rate for children age 0 to 4 in Los Angeles County has doubled in a month. See chart below.

The spike in case rates among the very young is precisely what many health experts have feared, as daily vaccinations are still low compared to last winter and the states vaccination rate for all citizens including those not eligible for vaccines remains below 55%. Many kids in the state are due to be back in school shortly, where masks have been mandated.
The news from one East Bay area school district that recently returned to in person learning is not promising. The 11-school Brentwood district confirmed at least 15 positive Covid cases among its students and staff just three days into the new school year. While cases among kids are most often mild, a more rapid spread due to the Delta variant and the possibility of new variants popping up as the virus mutates among new hosts is not a pretty picture for kids or parents, whove already been through a year of pandemic worries, not to mention homeschooling.
