A billionaire-backed conservative think tank is trying to roll back Florida child labor law

A conservative think tank in Florida thats lobbied Republicans in state legislatures across the country to relax child labor law also wrote legislation to accomplish a similar aim in Florida, new records show.
A bill filed in September by Florida Republican Linda Chaney, a member of the state House, would undo decades of child labor regulations by loosening restrictions on how late older teens in Florida can work. It would also prevent local governments from passing limitations stricter than the states. Its filing complements a growing movement to roll back labor regulations established to protect the health and safety of children.
Labor advocates have suspected that the Foundation for Government Accountability, a Naples-based group that drafted legislation to roll back child labor laws in other states, is behind Chaney's bill.
Now, public records originally obtained by More Perfect Union, including emails and text messages, prove it.

Emails show that the Foundation for Government Accountability, a dark money group funded by a bunch of ultra-conservatives and a billionaire mega-donor, doesnt just support Chaneys bill, but literally wrote it themselves.

They also provided Chaney, a Republican from St. Pete Beach, with talking points to counter the backlash it quickly received. State lawmakers, the majority of whom are Republicans, will consider the bill (HB 49) during an upcoming legislative session that begins Jan. 9, 2024.

Public records show a legislative aide for Chaney began communicating with the Foundation for Government Accountability over email about Youth Worker Freedom legislation in late July.
An initial email from the aide shows this communication came at the request of Chaney herself, who instructed her aide to follow up with the FGA about legislation concerning youth worker freedom. (Chaney's office did not respond to Orlando Weeklys request for comment on this story.)
The Naples think tank and its lobbying arm, the Opportunity Solutions Project is no stranger to child labor bills. Theyve directly lobbied Republicans in states like Arkansas, Missouri and Iowa to relax regulations on child labor law, explicitly framing it as an opportunity for businesses to address labor shortages.

At least 16 states, including Florida, have introduced legislation to roll back child labor regulations over the last two years, according to the Economic Policy Institute.

Ever connected to the conservative billionaire class, Seeking Rents found that DeSantis has received over $2 million in campaign donations over the last five years from the FGAs largest funder, Richard "Dick" Uihlen, who contributed $1 million to DeSantis' presidential super-PAC in May.
FGA policy memos sent to DeSantis staff beyond child labor rollbacks included proposals for fighting woke ideology and indoctrination in universities, as well as proposals that would allow the state to kick low-income people out of public housing after a certain period of time, and tighten eligibility requirements for people on food stamps. The group describes this as a way to break free from the shackles of government dependency.

The FGA's latest priority in Florida the child labor bill would go into effect July 1, 2024, if passed by the Republican-dominated state legislature.

Chaney, the House bill sponsor, has been relatively quiet about the bill since filing. She told the Orlando Sentinel in a statement last month that the bill intends to provide teenagers with the flexibility to work whatever hours they deem fits best with their schedule and financial goals.

This is an interesting spin from the video game argument. Often said people who wouldn't buy a game play it and love it and purchase multiple copies say someone as a kid pirated FF7 but today they own it legally on ps4, ps5, bought Remake, bought ps1 copy online etc.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/consumers-paying-more-ever-streaming-181821039.html

Consumers are paying more than ever for streaming TV each month and analysts say theres no reason for the companies to stop raising prices

After years of inflation, Americans are used to sticker shock. But nothing compares to the surging price of streaming video.
Last week, Apple TV+ became the latest streaming service to raise its priceup from $6.99 to $9.99 per monthfollowing the example of Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and Netflix, which all hiked their prices in October.
Half of the major streaming platforms in the U.S. now charge a monthly fee thats double the price they charged when they initially came to market. And many of these streaming services havent even been around for 10 years.
Consumers have grumbled, but have so far been willing to keep paying up. Its hard to say where their breaking point will be, but given that analysts believe the platforms are likely to continue raising prices even further, well probably find out soon enough.
Look at what Netflix continues to do, MoffettNathanson analyst Robert Fishman told Fortune, referring to the companys continued price increases despite recording profits for more than a decade. I dont think there will ever necessarily be an endpoint.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/5/5ce2ee5d.jpg

Part of whats driving the price hikes is how saturated the streaming market has become. For a company like Netflix, which has 77 million paid subscribers in the U.S. and Canada, finding new paying subscribers to keep revenue growing is not easy. Netflix has started clamping down on password sharing to boost its paid subscriber rolls, but that only goes so far. Raising prices for existing subscribers is an effective way to pump up the top line and keep investors happy.
For legacy media companies, increased streaming prices are a step toward recouping lost revenue from their slowly dying traditional television businesses. As consumers increasingly cancel their cable TV subscriptions in favor of streaming platforms, companies like Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, Comcast, and Paramount are losing money on their once reliably profitable TV businesses.
On Thursday, Disney announced that it was acquiring the 33% of Hulu that it didn't already own from Comcast. The deal gives Disney full control of Hulu, which, along with Disney+ and ESPN+, rounds out the media company's lineup of streaming services. According to AllianceBernstein analyst Laurent Yoon, the incremental revenue that Disney generates from Disney+ and Hulu in 2024 will outpace the revenue decline in the company's linear TV business.
But thats not the case for every company. In the near future, the next three or so years, Peacock is not going to outpace the decline of NBC, he told Fortune, referring to NBCUniversal's streaming platform. And Paramount+ revenue growth is not going to outpace the revenue decline of CBS, he said.
Pushing ads pushes profits
Some observers see another reason for the frequent price hikes: to push subscribers to their breaking point, and compel them to opt for a lower-priced, or even free, ad-supported plan instead.
Disney CEO Bob Iger said as much during an August earnings call: Were obviously trying, with our pricing strategy, to migrate more subs to the advertiser-supported tier.
Why? Unlike a paid subscription, which brings in a fixed amount of revenue each month, there is no ceiling to advertising revenue. The number of ads displayed and the rates a streaming platform can charge marketers for the ads are constantly fluctuating, offering unlimited revenue upside.
If you are Netflix, Hulu, and to some degree Amazon Prime and Max, you have the potential to generate advertising revenue to complement the discount on [the ad tier], said Yoon, the Bernstein analyst.
The strategy is reflected in the numbers. While the $13.99 monthly price of the Disney+ ad-free plan is now double its 2019 launch price, the company has kept the same $7.99 price for the advertising option since introducing the tier last year. Hulu has a wider margin, costing a monthly $7.99 with ads or $17.99 without.

For the advertising strategy to pay off, however, a streaming company needs an audience that spends a lot of time on its platform watching shows, and ads. Despite being one of the newest platforms to show ads, Netflix is in a position to earn big because of its high engagement, Yoon told Fortune. Bernstein estimates that Netflixs ad-based tier currently generates $8 per user in ad revenue each month, on top of the plans $6.99 subscription cost, which positions its average revenue per user for that tier roughly flush with that of its $15.49 ad-free service.
Someone is going to raise the white flag
With so many streaming services, and no end in sight to price hikes, something will have to give at some point. The streaming industry is on the verge of losing some of its major players, analysts agree. The macro, high-level view is that there are too many streaming services losing too much money, and someone is going to raise the white flag, said Rich Greenfield, analyst at LightShed Partners.
Bundling services together is an option that provides a larger value to consumers and could drive subscriptions, but it doesnt fix the problem, he told Fortune. It can eliminate losses, but Im not sure it makes it into a great business.
What makes more sense, Greenfield said, is if companies shut down their streaming platforms and become content arms dealers to the highest bidder. Many streaming companies have been in the studio business for decadesincluding Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Paramountand they can continue to remain relevant in streaming by supplying films and television shows to other platforms, he said, rather than running their own.

I mispoke cause tbh the character is just boring. I thought she was Danzo progeny but actually looks like her dad was just his fanboy and she got experimented on or something.

https://boruto.fandom.com/wiki/Sumire_Kakei

After Danz Shimura died and the existence of Root and its actions were made public knowledge, all its members became ostracized by the village, including Sumire's family. This contributed to Sumire's mother growing ill and later dying. The loss affected Sumire deeply, as one of the few joys she experienced was spending time with her mother brushing her hair and over time Sumire couldn't even remember her mother's voice.

Sumire's father, Tanuki Shigaraki, a maniacal follower of Danzo's, trained her from a young age, in order to avenge Root. Eventually, he bestowed her with the Gozu Tenn. After the death of her parents, Sumire became an orphan and created the identity of "Sumire Kakei", deciding that it was best to wait and create a cover story before exacting her father's plan. Sumire eventually became the representative of her Academy class, during which, she began nurturing the Nue's development.[1]

Upon reaching his apparent godhood, Shibai's techniques were dubbed "Shinjutsu". His incredible abilities that were achieved without hand seals were said to be able to generate storms with a wave of his hand, as well as calling forth thunder bolts with a roar.[2] He had access to various remarkable abilities, including clairvoyance and automatic reflection of all harm to himself.[3] He could also use the power of Omnipotence to make anything he desired a reality.

After several cycles of evolution, Shibai was hypothesised by Amado to have ascended to a higher dimension level and deliberately discarded his body, something Momoshiki privately confirmed to Boruto.[4] Sometime later, Amado Sanzu ended up in possession of his physical remains, and transplanted his DNA into some members of Kara to give them some of Shibai's Shinjutsu abilities.

Likely to meet this guy at the end of the series as an ascended benevolent being probably who tells the Otsutsuki to stop pursuing godhood or something.

The Otsutsuki like Kagure end goal is to become a god. Like they have actual god powers such as the girl who grants wishes. Except a true Otsusuki god doesn't just have one.
Apparently there was an Otsutsuki who became a god and transcended.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/f/f92802ae.jpg

https://naruto.fandom.com/wiki/Shinjutsu

  • Omnipotence is said to be the most powerful shinjutsu there is.[2]
  • Momoshiki has claimed to hold intimate knowledge of all extant shinjutsu.[3]
  • Hagoromo tsutsuki's mastery of Ninsh bears many similarities with shinjutsu, including his ability to create life from nothing and not needing hand seals to perform his jutsu.
  • It is possible that the Kekkei Mra techniques derive from (or fall under) shinjutsu, as those jutsu not only predate the invention of ninjutsu, but also bear many similarities to shinjutsu in their functioning, such as not requiring hand seals.

Her ability is to grant wishes.
The adopted dude Kamwraki or w\e wished to be Naruto's son and she accidently granted it.

Except it cannot alter certain people so Boruto, Sarada and granddaughter of Danzo all remember the first reality before it was Mandela'd.

But everyone else like Kakashi sees Kamwraki as Naruto's son.

Kamwraki put Hinata and Naruto in a bubble to protect them cause he thinks Boruto dangerous since an Otosuk living in his body.
