Upsets galore, and by that, I mean the fact that only one of 38 level 2 pickers managed to pick the only upset that happened this week (in ladder, of course), and that was @KokoroAkechi being our soul person on Level 3 for this week.

A few ground rules:
-Please say which level you are on when you post your pick. In most cases it will be obvious, but this makes it easier for me to record the picks.
-The deadline to make a pick is at the start of the second set of games on Sunday afternoon (4:25 PM ET). That means no SNF/MNF picks after most all the games have started or finished. You cannot pick a game that has already started.
-The deadline to answer the bonus question is at the start of games on Sunday (1 PM ET).
-Please post the spreads with your picks, it makes it much easier for me.
-I get my spreads from an online site providing lines from several sources, both in Vegas and out. Although these sources may continue to change their lines throughout the week, the ones I post in the topic are frozen and final for our purposes.
-You may use bonus points to skip any level after it is guaranteed you cannot pass it (at the end of the week's games, typically). You may only skip the level before I have posted the next week's topic. The price for skipping is in proportion to the level you are skipping. Skipping level 1 would take 1 bonus point, level 2 will take 2, level 5 will take 5. So on and so forth.

Explanation of Levels:

Level 1: Pick a winner. Simply pick one team to win their game. If they win, you go on to level 2.

Level 2: Pick an Underdog to win. You must pick a team that is an underdog to win their game. Underdogs will always be the team listed second.

Level 3: 2 Games with Spread. Using the spreads I provide, pick 2 games. You must get both correct to move on. Spreads work by giving (-) or getting (+) points. The team that is the favorite to win "gives" points to the underdog. If you choose the favorite to win, they must still win after "giving" those points to the underdog. If you choose the underdog, you would be correct if they win the game after "getting" those points. For example, if a game says "Giants (-2.5) vs. Cowboys," if you pick the Giants, they must actually win the game by at least three points; if you pick the Cowboys, you would win if they actually won the game or lost by two points or less.

No more people on Level 1, even all newcomers advanced (all 5 of them), only one person that participated last week didn't show up for this one, and partially a good thing since who knows if they were going to predict the only underdog to win. Speaking of, we have two little upsets of our own, Swifty who swapped from Raiders to Eagles for upset wins, and Sir Chris who actually changed his bonus to 2 underdog wins when he had 1 originally. Leaving @StifledSilence as the only person getting a bonus point this week.

New York Giants @ Chicago Bears
Trubisky didn't show up until the second half, expect a bounce back week from Barkley and some great play out of Slayton. Bears don't have the same sort of shutdown or explosiveness at offense that the Steelers did.

Atlanta Falcons @ Dallas Cowboys
Cowboys didn't allow a passing TD against them and are facing a much weaker secondary this week. They'll likely be better at sacking Matt Ryan and shutting him down more than Seahawks did.

Detroit Lions @ Green Bay Packers
Never forget that Lions designed themselves to beat the Packers and were 0-2 against them last year. After Trubisky's comeback... I expect another 0-2 season against the Packers this year.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Tennessee Titans
Rivers had a lot of trouble hitting the end zone with a new team against this Jaguars Defense, but Tannehill shouldn't have that problem with a team he's been with, and Titans defense should be able to shut down Minshew.

Minnesota Vikings @ Indianapolis Colts
Cousins got some time to explore his offense against the Packers. Rivers didn't show a strong understanding of his against a team as weak as the Jaguars.

Buffalo Bills @ Miami Dolphins
Only one of these teams show a wish to win games. It's not the Dolphins.

San Francisco 49ers @ New York Jets LOCK
Perfect time for Aiyuk to get healthy and practice with Sanu to see how this offense will look in a few weeks against a team that isn't the Jets. Meanwhile the run game will do most of the point scoring.

Los Angeles Rams @ Philadelphia Eagles SUPER LOCK
Rams beat a better defense at home, Eagles aren't gonna have a great time against the Rams defense.

Denver Broncos @ Pittsburgh Steelers
For as long as Juju is healthy, the Steelers will be pretty strong. Broncos will hold them up more, but aren't going to outscore them.

Carolina Panthers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Brady will still be learning this Buccaneer offense, but with Panthers being down some key pass rushers, the loss of Godwin won't matter too much with Evans and Howard standing strong, among other targets Brady will get some playtime with.

Washington Football Team @ Arizona Cardinals
Hopkins still isn't 100% with this new offense, Washington has a strong pass rush that will rush Kyler and likely force some turnovers.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Los Angeles Chargers
Tyrod is not accurate, and Chiefs are strong.

Baltimore Ravens @ Houston Texans
Time for blowout against the Texans #2.

New England Patriots @ Seattle Seahawks LOCK
I'd like to give a nice little thing about this. Cam Newton is 2-6 against Russ, when Russ has been in a run first offense since the beginning of his career, and even in the two wins (both in 2015), it wasn't Cam's passing that won them the game. The Seahawks had weakness against the long ball last week while Newton is massively inaccurate and won't even have a healthy deep threat. He's not gonna run over the Seahawks either, they've never let him do so.

New Orleans Saints @ Las Vegas Raiders
Without Michael Thomas, Brees is going to be learning a bit about this offense and Kamara will likely be targetted by the defense. He'll still score, but we don't have enough information about how Saints will do without the top 5 receiver, while Raiders are warming up to their pass offense led by rookie Henry Ruggs (most yards, third most targets behind Jacobs and Waller)

Week 1 was about as normal as usual, a bunch of easy picks between stuff like Chiefs, Ravens, Steelers, Patriots and similar stuff, and a few people who gave their picks to their teams or the Super Bowl loser in what on paper seemed like easy matches to get burnt. Not many risky picks, as normal for Level 1, even those who failed technically didn't have much risk to their picks, it just didn't work out thanks to us not having much of a clue on how some offenses and defenses would look without preseason.

After finally putting everything in, I have 41 entrants in the tiebreaker. That's less entries than Week 10 of last year, which is a point when participation was dwindling. This year really is just having a bit less people doing this stuff in general.

And of course we continue to wait for the result of that, two people have already lost Level 1 thanks to buying into their teams being favored against other bad teams, how saddening. Of course, on the flip side, out of 42 entrants, we have 34 people advancing to Level 2 already with 6 people waiting on the results of later games.

Falcons will need a little time to figure out how to fully use their RBs in their system and Seahawks have a very strong secondary this year, plus a weak defense is playing against one of the best QBs.

New York Jets @ Buffalo Bills
Bills have some very good new weapons that will be shown off in style.

Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions
Many question marks will be on both of these teams, I'm actually going the home team logic here.

Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings
No Diggs, Vikings will be learning their offense and Packers are still strong-ish on Defense.

Miami Dolphins @ New England Patriots LOCK
Miami might be the worst team to start the year out, they could get better by the end, but I'd expect them to even lose to the Jets if they were playing them this week.

I have no faith in Haskins early, and Eagles could show a very cool defense.

Las Vegas Raiders @ Carolina Panthers
Raiders have excellent weapons on offense and Panthers still haven't filled in that defense.

The improved Colts defense got better, and they could win this match-up with a reject QB, try with a Pro-Bowler.

Unlucky first match for Browns, Baker wants to rebound from last year but Ravens are still way ahead.

A rookie QB is not going to show off a win in week 1, least of all with a team that doesn't even know how to play this game.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints SUPER LOCK
Brees at home, no Evans means they can double team Godwin, and Gronk is definitely out of some practice.

Arizona Cardinals @ San Francisco 49ers
49ers pass offense is still not gonna be something to be pleased about with their top WR out and their second with a hamstring injury that he'd be trying to play through. Cardinals have improved, and they'll show it here.

The better defense will win this, especially when you can expect Cowboys stars to underperform what's expected.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ New York Giants
The fumble king at QB has no chance against Steelers defense.

Tennessee Titans @ Denver Broncos
Proven offense against a big question mark. Titans may drop down later, but don't think Broncos can stop Henry while having Lock and his weapons succeed fully.

Oh sure, I can mention Riev's reason for his team.

Everyone had one cop because of us siding with James Gordon to take control of Gotham. Riev's chosen cop was Crispus Allen, who his team (Han's character, MI's character, and Ermine's character) had rescued from the racist Olympians territory.

Now, Riev was a hitman and a mercenary. He worked for a few minor Gotham based criminals and his more major storyline was based around his recent boss and a tragic storyline regarding him having killed his brother on the orders of this boss, Roman Sionis aka the Black Mask. After taking down Sionis and putting his closest lieutenant, Great White Shark, in place of Mask's territory, Riev put Mask under watch of the mercenary group he was heavily acquainted with, which was Noonan's Bar. They had control of the Knightsdome after the events of the Patchwork due to their bar getting burnt down, so Riev made sure his bomb location was that. During the events of the last months, Sionis ended up under the watch of Roulette (mentioned earlier with Johnbobb's thing).

First on his list, was the most gifted of the Noonan's Bar mercenaries, and the only one we've really met, Tommy Monaghan. He had been part of a mission before and they talked a few things over. Riev easily trusted him and wanted to be alongside him.

Second on his list will be a longer story, so I'll start on #3 since he's more relevant. Early on in the campaign, we found a story about slave trading and investigated the Faith Sector, a number of False Facers (aka Black Mask's gang) were down in there. One in particular was named Mikey, he was someone who wanted to get away from the fighting so was the only False Facer that didn't return after we defeated the man in charge of the slave trade. I brought Mikey as a conscience, someone who would choose whether or not at the end of Riev's solo session on whether he kills Sionis for the death of his brother, or if Sionis is spared. Black Mask was left at the end in continued care of Roulette, who would make the rest of his days torturous. Riev did get to basically tell Roman that all his industries were going to Great White Shark in that time anyway, fully making Black Mask defeated and leaving him with nothing even if he escaped from Roulette's fight club.

Back to second on the list, there was one extra storyline Riev had, that he didn't do too much during, but he was a little invested in it. Azrael had a group of mercenaries, one Riev knew originally (Philo Zeiss, who Riev had some interactions of helping each other during), some people with similar talents as Riev (Deadshot with sniping and Brutale with torture, he assisted both over the course), finally, there is one person he didn't interact with originally, but there was a time where Scar wanted us to talk about what our plans were with an NPC, and at the end of the conversation I got a Contact level with Catman. At one point of talking to him, I understood that the last time he was in Gotham he got arrested stealing from a grocery store and felt like an embarrassment, he got into shape and wanted to get back with Catwoman. So Riev sought out setting them up, over the course of two attempts, Catman got turned down hard when he tried to talk to her and became depressed for months after. Riev invited Catman since he'd be definitely out of the building he was living in to protect both the pride of lions he was with and to make sure Selina would know that Catman helped the city. Entertainingly, because of Catman coming along, the leader of his pride came looking for him, so I had one extra character, which was a lion.

The paid stuff were my specific rule that I forgot to actually edit onto the rules in my doc, I'll make sure it's in the rules next week, but for now, time to continue into this new season.

A few ground rules:
-Please say which level you are on when you post your pick. In most cases it will be obvious, but this makes it easier for me to record the picks.
-The deadline to make a pick is at the start of the second set of games on Sunday afternoon (4:25 PM ET). That means no SNF/MNF picks after most all the games have started or finished. You cannot pick a game that has already started.
-The deadline to answer the bonus question is at the start of games on Sunday (1 PM ET).
-Please post the spreads with your picks, it makes it much easier for me.
-I get my spreads from an online site providing lines from several sources, both in Vegas and out. Although these sources may continue to change their lines throughout the week, the ones I post in the topic are frozen and final for our purposes.

Explanation of Levels:

Level 1: Pick a winner. Simply pick one team to win their game. If they win, you go on to level 2.

Bonus:

1: Will any games go to overtime this week?

Another year of no one asking for really any changes in the ending thing, I'll figure out if by Week 4 myself if I continue the rule I changed, or revert back to 30+/10-. Granted, it still seems easier than Week 3 but we didn't have the attempt to change it and adjust so I'm still not going to swap for this season. Either way, again, the rule I made last year is not gone, it will be added into next week and edited into the doc as soon as I can get it.

As someone with a COVID player, and the exact one mentioned at that, I will also choose to change to no IR just because of the change of draft priority. I think it won't be relevant next year as well. At least, hopefully we don't screw up that horribly.

In regards to everything that was being voted on, I don't want the platform change still, but I also don't want the removal of IDP. If they get removed I'm just out of the League regardless of which platform we choose to be on. FAAB could be interesting to try out. My other league is adding one slot for IR and I think that's fair, considering we aren't getting that much in understanding on what's going on with teams. Undisclosed stuff could mess with the draft whether being auto'd or not.

I don't tend to like getting vocal songs in general among these OSTs, it's the distraction of hearing a voice that starts to sidetrack me when I'm getting into a groove with what I'm working on.
