I think he was trying to think of an animal with three of the same letters in its name (which alligator doesn't anyway but I can see how you'd blurt that out with no time to think).

My favorite is "peanut butter" as a response to "something you squeeze"

City limits:

El Paso - 678,815
Baton Rouge - 227,470

Metro Area:

El Paso - 846,399
Baton Rouge - 870,569

So 643,099 of Baton Rouge Metro area is outside of city limits, while only 167,584 of El Paso's is outside the city limits. Crazy stuff yo

It's technically a little smaller than El Paso

I remember El Paso standing out when browsing population data a while back out of boredom, because by city limits it's one of the biggest cities in the country but by metro area it took a huge drop (#23 in city limits, #71 in metro area). I'm assuming El Paso has next to nothing outside of the city limits.

ABQ is #61 in metro area so above El Paso there, #32 in city limits tho.

BATON ROUGE has a bigger metro area than El Paso. That's crazy yo. But not too unexpected, we have huge suburb areas in Ascension and Livingston Parish, plus Zachary and Baker and Port Allen are in East Baton ROuge Parish but outside of Baton Rouge proper.

That house by itself isn't worth more than maybe $300k in a shit hole like Albuquerque.

Is ABQ really a shithole? I drove through on the way to Vegas one time and always wanted to go and actually spend time there some day.

Me and my fiancee are watching Breaking Bad. She's never seen it before, this is my 5th or 6th time watching it all the way through. If I can't see it for the first time anymore, next best thing is to be around someone else watching it for the first time.

We just got done watching S3E12 Half Measures. She's texting me pissed that I made us stop for the night after that because now she can't stop thinking about watching the next episode lmao. One of the best moments in the series, I wanted her to really digest it

Total. Yes, the chart would be better per capita. However at 39 million people vs. 29 million, I think we can eyeball what the approximate impact on the chart would be. California's January spike would still be a fair bit worse than Texas. Texas's slightly greater rise in hospitalizations would look mildly higher, but as a trend they're following pretty closely. California is rising almost as fast, just a little bit later. The same thing happened in December. Wouldn't be surprised if Texas hospitalizations level off after a while and then California significantly overtakes them.

My point is not that things aren't bad in Texas, it is bad. The point is that this surge in infections is nationwide. It's not substantially worse in Texas and Florida like the media wants it to be. If they just showed you the data from other states, nobody would be jumping to that conclusion.

The January spike for Cali, as a per capita it would be only slightly higher than Texas. Everywhere else on that chart, Cali is around equal or even less than Texas' total numbers despite having 33% more total population. I consider that substantially worse as would any statistician worth their salt

Of course El Paso isn't nearly as fucked. Just like the whole power outage bullshit, they still had their lights on. LEARN from this republicans.

Isn't El Paso on a different power grid than the rest of Texas? El Paso and that area of Texas might as well be New Mexico

Is Texas really doing so much worse as you thought? Can you tell which state is which above?

Is that per capita or total? Cali has over 10 million more people than Texas
