There are patterns. The East has more English names, the Midwest French and Spanish in the West. Historical figures are a good booster. Natural names like stone or mountain. Native American tribes.

Saying you dont understand nostalgia is basically saying you didnt enjoy your youth, or that there was nothing worth remembering. Its kinda sad really. I have a damn good life and I still think about the good ol days when a song or comes on that brings up a good memory, especially one that I hadnt thought about in a long time. Something like that happened at work today and it made me think of an experience I shared with my first real girlfriend, it was awesome.

But we're talking about a period of many years. 95% of the time, people do mundane, regular things that they never think about or remember. Why should "good" things remain in memory more than anything else? On any given day when you were a teenager, it was probably just a regular day like any other day. Most of the "good" things people remember are just a cloudy generalized viewpoint, it doesn't reflect reality. It makes no sense.
