They find out the entire thing is alive and can respond but it's not actually conscious, it reacts automatically like a giant single celled, techno-organic lifeform unlike anything on Earth. There are also vampires with a scientific reasoning behind them. Turns out they were a predatory near human species that went extinct because of a random weakness where they couldn't look at perpendicular lines like fences or windows without having seizures and were genetically resurrected. --- Don't tease the octopus, kids! |
