Lex is also just a great president if Superman doesn't exist. Like in Red Son, the only reason America is able to withstand Superman's communist takeover is because Lex's leadership makes life in America so great. And then at the end when Superman is defeated, he leads the entire world into an era of peace and stability, curing all diseases and colonizing the solar system until he dies a thousand years later.

I like Red Son but Lex casually being like "Oh btw I've figured out how to solve ALL of the US' problems while playing chess. Discovering alien life would be huge.

Not just for philosophical and religious reasons but also for scientific ones.

Lfie developing on Mars and Earth would all but garantee there is life on other planets too.

And life that could survive on Mars would be unlike anything on Earth which would be fascinating. Especially if the life evolved after the Water all but went away.

I'd argue examining Alien worms if we found one would be far far far more huge as an event compared to studying a new type of spinosaurus

I'm not being nihilistic for the sake of it, I think space exploration is largely some childhood pipe dream and it's a complete waste if it's just to "explore". So many problems here that looking there won't solve.

It's not that simple.

For starters "How does going to space help Problem X!" is dumb logic. How does fixing the potholes in the street help world hunger? Does that mean you shouldn't do it?

How does the NBA help stop the Russian Invasion of Ukraine, should we cancel the sport since it's a waste? Well no, it's an unrelated thing.

On top of that, even putting aside the huge amount of natural curiousity millions (if not most) humans have for the universe. A huge amount of technology and understanding of science that is applied in day to day life was created via space programs.

The current plans to terraform Mars are LOoooooooooooooooong term but there's no reason to assume the shit people are thinking up won't end up having real world applications for Earth.

Its both unimaginative thinking and unpragmatic thinking to go "Well this right now does instantly solve every problem or instantly having deliverable results, therefore it doesn't matter."

Imagine your ancestor 11,000 years ago being like "Why are are you tying logs together and trying to go into the water!? There's nothing for you there and it doesn't help you survive. In fact it puts you in danger!"

Off topic but thinking of this made me realize how shitty DC's female superhero roster is.

I was trying to think of a Trio and WW/Batgirl came to mind.

But then It was hard to think of a 3rd.

Batwoman? Cassandra Cain? Talia Al Ghul? They can't really share the spot with Batgirl. They're all pretty derivative.

Villains get Harely, Ivy and Catwoman but they all seem Batmanesq. Maybe that could be it's own poll but Ivy would get killed something fierce.
