I will also say that people who live in houses with good spots to leave packages tend to have far less problems with delivery drivers. Of course, some drivers can be really lazy and still mess that up.

Apartments are just widely known to be a huge pain to deal with. I understand affording a house isn't exactly easy and it has its own set of drawbacks, but this is one case where it'd be an advantage. If you want to continue living in apartments or can't afford something nicer then expecting crappy delivery service is probably more advantageous.

Easy for me to say as I don't live in an apartment. If I had to deal with this stuff on the regular I would probably be pretty fuming.

Only other thing I would suggest is to try and build a relationship with your delivery driver. If he knows you by face and name he is more likely to properly deliver. Easier said than done and probably not worth the work that is no guarantee to work, but hey it is an option. Quite a few people actually do try to chat with their drivers regularly. More than you think. There are a lot of lonely people out there who spend all day at home and long for any sort of communication face to face.

Man do people really hate USPS that much? The only packages I've ever had lost in the mail were from UPS or FedEx.

I do because they lie to me and don't even bother trying to deliver things I ordered. Just recently I got a new monitor and as I was checking the status it said they tried to deliver it but no one was home and they left a note. They didn't even come to my house, they blatantly lied about it.

It was at the local office and I had to personally go pick it up. This is not uncommon and it's bullshit that they get away with it.

Dude, I work for UPS and they do this too. Certain drivers are known for doing this. Part of the problem is that its an expensive product and people don't want to leave that at the door or knock, wait for signature, then write a note. Those guys are pretty over worked so they find shortcuts where they can. Shipping is a massively growing industry and these companies can't keep up.

Your complaint is comparable to complaining that a pizza delivery took an hour during the busiest time of day. Yeah it sucks for you, but you need to be a little understanding. Way worse things can happen then having to pick it up from a post office.

But yeah this is by no means exclusive to USPS

Then the USPS and/or UPS should stop listing it as "attempted delivery". If they can't make it there then fine, I'll pick it up the next day. But don't lie about trying to deliver it when you've never tried.

First off, I have to ask how sure people are that the UPS/USPS/FedEx/Amazon person never attempted to deliver. We get calls coming in from people claiming as such, but I know the driver was there in a handful of situations.

I can't speak for others. But my USPS drivers have been lazy over the years so sometimes I watch them from my apartment (I can see the mailbox from my window). Most times that it ends up saying "attempted delivery" I can see them pull up and put letters in everyone's boxes and then drive away. No pink slip anywhere, in my mailbox or at my door. And then a couple minutes later the tracking says "attempted delivery: no answer" or something to those words. There are very few times they even leave a pink slip at all.

Sometimes I drive after them to the next complex and ask for my parcel, which they then give me and say sorry. Other times I phone the local post office and tell them, which usually ends up with it being delivered the next day.

This usually happens to me once every 1-2 months and has happened in two different apartments in two different cities.

Sounds like you have a very worthy complaint then.

I will also say that drivers tend to hate apartment buildings so that is a more likely situation for them to fake an "attempted delivery." It can be a pain for them to buzz certain apartments and then sometimes have to leave it at a door and not with an actual customer. Some apartment buildings are known for theft and drivers prefer to avoid that altogether by making the customer come and grab it.

It can vary by building. Some apartment buildings do not allow any type of delivery service to enter. Sometimes if a theft was reported that week then no deliveries in that building for a month. It can vary wildly from building to building.

But yeah it sounds like your driver is probably just trying to work the system and save himself time. I'm just also trying to explain some of the issues he may face

Yeah fast food in general has been rising in price.

Fast Casual restaurants tend to be a better deal, because they only charge a little bit more, but they are significantly better in quality. You can also expect much better service too.

Subway mostly sucks because of the emergence of Jimmy John's, Erbert and Gerbert's, Milio's, Which Wich, Potbelly's, and Jersey Mikes. All of these places offer a significantly higher quality sandwich for only a little bit more. Before they were around it was harder to see how crappy Subway was. Now it is extremely obvious to everyone.

Subway by far has the lowest quality of ingredients across the board from the bread to the veggies and everything inbetween.

First off, I have to ask how sure people are that the UPS/USPS/FedEx/Amazon person never attempted to deliver. We get calls coming in from people claiming as such, but I know the driver was there in a handful of situations.

Second, someone in management won't just let a driver drop the package off at a sorting center or UPS store without reason. Management requires that they make an attempt to deliver. Drivers know how to cover their tracks and make it look like they attempted to deliver. Management can't track absolutely everything though they do try. Management doesn't necessarily care that much, because they realize that corners sometimes need to be cut to get the job done. As long as nothing was stolen are purposely broken or accidently broken and still knowingly delivered they don't care as strongly. Of course, this all depends on the supervisor. That is just how it is and not a whole lot is going to change that... well...

Ultimately these companies need to start paying a lot more to attract new employees. All shipping companies have big problems with staffing, because their industry has been growing significantly and wages are very meh which results in an employment shortage.

Oh and I'm sure paying employees higher wages won't have an effect on the cost of shipping at all. Yup that totally won't result in companies charging more.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that you pay for what you get at this point. Shipping isn't terribly expensive, but it isn't exactly a perfectly delivered service every time. Though you can pay extra and increase your likelihood of such a service.

Not sure why people are so dead set on labeling a specific shipper (USPS, UPS, FedEx, Amazon, etc.) so strongly. In my experience, it can vary wildly within a specific shipping company. It depends on how good your sorting center is and how good your delivery driver is.

The whole shipping industry has been booming for years now. If anything, we need to add more shipping companies not get rid of one. Really though all shipping companies are struggling to have enough employees so they overwork the ones they have.

UPS gives a lot of their package volume to USPS, because it saves them money. All of the big shippers exchange volume. They aren't nearly in as direct competition with each other as you guys think.

Get rid of USPS and the other shipping companies will suffer oh and they won't have the infrastructure to deal with all of the extra volume coming through. That isn't something you can replace overnight.

I worked two years for FedEx and I've been with UPS for four years now. Shipping has changed significantly over the last decade and it is only going to continue to grow.

It isn't very good, but I've gotten used to it and I have like the whole game memorized so I personally don't notice it too much. I can certainly see why someone new to the game would be frustrated with it.

I hope they do quite a bit to fix that in the upcoming reignited trilogy.

I was absolutely in love with those games growing up. Spyro 2 Ripto's Rage was the first game I got 100% in at 10 years old. Played all three of the original trilogy. The first one is definitely not as good as the later two. It is similar to how I'd rate the first Crash Bandicoot game to the next two. It's an early go at this type of game and doesn't have many of the essential features that were integral to later games. Still certainly playable and enjoyable, but a notch below the other two. I feel like the third game Year of the Dragon is generally the best regarded, but I prefer the second game Ripto's Rage.

The game had really great sounding music. The worlds had a lot of character and charm to them. It had that IT factor for me greater than Banjo Kazooie, but I still love BK. Personally, Spyro is my favorite of all of the 3D platformers of the ps1/n64 era.

Levels are generally a pretty linear design compared to Banjo Kazooie. You are typically designed to do the objectives in a rough order with branching paths and maybe a little bit of back tracking. Levels are a good deal smaller, but there are many more of them and each of them has their own vibe to it. Spyro 2 had cutscenes before and after finishing a level that showed you the problem with that world initially then showed you a concluding cutscene after Spyro helps out that community.

My understanding is that the new Spyro reignited trilogy is going to be almost a complete redo of the original games. I even think they are redoing some of the music which worries me. I believe more modern aspects like the camera should be improved upon as it was a very common complaint, but I do not recall seeing anything specifically about that.

I've just gotten the impression that the game is being updated to modern standards very significantly similar to what just happened with the original Crash Bandicoot trilogy.

Why can't we make prostitution a more accessible career option for men?

I'm only half joking here. Isn't it considered a good thing for men to feel comfortable working jobs considered too feminine for men? Ya know like breaking down those gender barriers.

Or does that only work when women want in on desirable male dominated professions? By desirable, I mean jobs that aren't manual labor.

But yeah legalizing prostitution is pretty much nothing but a good thing from a variety of angles. It just comes off a little weird when 3rd wave feminists support it so strongly, but I mostly agree with them anyways.

Why (to the bolder part)?

Because prostitution SEEMS like such a degrading profession and you'd think they'd prefer these women to work in STEM or other male dominated and much better paying and respected fields.

Like stripping is clearly a legal and regulated industry, but it also seems like a fairly unhealthy environment.

I guess the closest comparison I can make to men is men working very physical manual labor jobs (like coal mining) that may pay well, but are also very bad for you in a multitude of ways. I find it weird for anyone to be championing such jobs.

It's a weird grey area where you want workers in said field to have better working conditions, but even when you dress it up real nice it's still a job where you may be much better off looking elsewhere. Some jobs still suck bad no matter how much you try to improve work conditions. I get that no job is perfect either and people sometimes find working in crappy conditions to be preferable to not working.

It just seems like they should be more focused on discouraging people from entering the profession as opposed to improving work conditions. Improving work conditions seems like it kind of encourages entry into sex work.

But I guess people need to work and most jobs suck anyways. IDK it just seems contradictory to want to discourage people from entering a certain profession and fighting to improve work conditions in that same profession.

Only trying to help people with the means to help themselves is not a very uplifting movement.

Not really sure how what you said relates to my post.

To be clear, I have nothing against feminist groups working to improve the work conditions for various types of sex workers that tend to be predominantly female. Certainly there is room for improvement there. There is a market for those jobs, because men want to pay to have sex with women.

Just seems you would very much want to decrease the amount of women turning to sex work as you also work to improve their work conditions. Reading that statement it seems contradictory or to exist in some sort of weird grey area.

The only reason he has that is because he overcame adverse poverty to dominate in a field that's predominantly black, and then gained mainstream appeal (which is predominately white, mind you). His individual success doesn't remove the fact that millions can't and won't reach that level of success, or even a fraction of it. He is an extreme outlier, much like Oprah is. Much like Zuckerberg is. Much like Bill Gates is. Much like Neal DeGrasse Tyson is. Using them to prove any argument for or against privilege is fallacious. Where do I sign up for this white privilege thing I hear so much about. Was it mailed to me or something or is there a phone number I can call?

Youve had it your whole life. You misunderstanding what it is doesnt make it less so.

I mean, it certainly exists. But a man who has a life better than 99.9% of the people he is talking about having a privilege I just don't see really helping ultimately.

This. Speech comes off weird coming from a person who has a thousand times the privilege I'll ever have. Not to say he didn't earn it or anything like that.

Having lots of money is significantly better than having white privilege.

I'd way rather be rich than white

Yeeeeeeeeah I don't know if I'd be so quick to assert that the STEM fields are "much better paying".

Yeah I'm sure high class prostitutes do pretty well. Over a lifetime though and on average? Yeah STEM is a better career path for women than prostitution. Not sure why I feel the need to say that out loud.

Rey is a horribly written character and any ounce of likability she possesses is purely due to Daisy Ridley's charisma and acting ability.

Tactical Ops

It was a mod for the original Unreal Tournament. It was basically a counter strike ripoff. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I tried playing Counter Strike years later after Tactical Ops died off and it just wasn't the same.

Socom II

Easily my favorite online game of all time. Voice chat was extremely useful. People could be really stealthy in their tactics and sneak up on people quick.

There are way too many respawn heavy multiplayer games nowadays. I miss when die and you're done games were bigger. They are harder to find now. Fortnite kind of has that feel, but you can join a new game so quick it is almost as quick as respawn. I liked being punished for dying early in a round or being the last one on my team surviving.

I haven't tried Rainbow Six Seige yet, but I've heard that is basically the closest thing to Socom II. Gears of War was also able to somewhat replicate the experience, but it is still quite a bit different from Socom II.

Socom 3 basically killed the franchise. It was stupid to add vehicles. That basically made it into a completely different game. It should have remained doing what it did best which was very team oriented 8v8 battles.

Do you know hundreds of turtles hatchling die every year in beach cities?

They came out of their shells at night seeking moonlighy reflected on the water as a guide.

Howeverin cities, the light pollutions are generally bad that the babies mistake urban lamps as the sea and they go on the wrong way.

They usually fall prey to predator waiting near lights or just starve and die, or got run over by cars.

Rip

But some grow up HUGE and defeat predators

it's definitely a place for narcissists, like everyone thinks their answers deserve some sort of standing ovation

this reddit comment hits the nail on the head for me

There's a certain Quora style of writing that's hard to explain, but is so distinct and . . . patronizing? Like the answers to questions are less about answering the question, and more about using the question as a creative writing prompt (and displaying your superiority).

"How do you open a can of beans?"

"Hi, Bob. Great question. Beans are a timeless staple of the American diet, and I happen to be a lifelong conniseur of the vast array of bean varieties, as well as a passionate artist working in the bean medium . . ." Proceeds to write 5 paragraph essay, with each paragraph starting with a bolded line, about bean varieties and the importance of buying a high quality specialty can opener.

The ones that don't do this can be pretty good though. Ill definitely acknowledge that as a common writing style in the answers section though. Plenty of douches there. You just need to sort through all of that which can be a pain.

Yeah, im p sure theyre already working on reshoots for their inclusion into the mcu

Absolutely not, that deal is far from final

Idk even Marvel would even want to include the current incarnations of X-Men as tied to the MCU. That said, the deal is probably the reason these movies are being pushed back. In the event the deal does fall through, Fox will have a number of "big" releases for next year to try and bounce back .

It's being moved back due to reshoots and actors not having available time in their schedules to film them in time for the initial release date. It sounds like they didn't plan a time for reshoots in the schedule. Reshoots seem more common than not these days.

New Mutants is a bit of a different story as it sounds like that movie is receiving very significant changes. I can forgive that as they are aiming for something very new and experimental.

My hype for both movies actually increased due to the delays. I Wish more movies would be delayed. Justice League would have benefited significantly from it. I feel studios are rushing these movies way too much and they should slow it down a bit.
