Even though Tora was a painfully-obvious pervert, he kicked ass in cutscenes when there was in need of action. I do like Riki a lot but I liked Tora a little bit more...though that also kinda extends to Poppi. His artificial Blade ends up getting more characterization/attention than Tora himself does by the end, lol. I also kinda liked Nia a bit better than Melia, if we're to make a comparison. She's a more varied character and is a legitimate foil to Rex's character. The only thing they dropped the ball on is her feelings for Rex, which just came out of nowhere. At least with Melia you could tell she felt something for Shulk after the first few hours with her...but she never had the guts to say so to him like Nia ended up doing to Rex. Most of the other characters in 1 left more of an impact to me though, including villains like you said. Yeah, Nia actually had some real good character development. I liked how both her and Melia got a good amount of focus at various points in the game. I honestly hated XBC2s combat at first. Once I could art cancel, the combat system started to really speed up and it became pretty satisfying. Im also hoping to start X some time in August. --- |

| The_Scarecrow 07/05/18 2:32:15 AM #93 | Alright, here is my comparison post for XBC1 and XBC2. Story: Xenoblade Chronicles 1 had the more entertaining and better story in my opinion. From early on in the game, I wanted to see where the story would go. Plus, interesting little tidbits would be thrown at the player every now and then to keep them intrigued and guessing at what's really happening. That was nice. Not to mention all of the crazy plot twists. It was a pretty wild ride. Xenoblade Chronicles 2, on the other hand, took a while to really get going. That's probably why I spent so much time messing around in the game instead of continuing the main story. It felt the main party was being dragged along for most of the game. Granted, the last few chapters of that game were really good but that doesn't excuse how many parts of this game's story felt like filler. Characters: Personally, I preferred the characters in Xenoblade Chronicles 1. When it came down to it, I just liked them more. XBC2 had a bigger party if you count all the main blades but because of that, some of the characters didn't feel too fleshed out. I liked Shulk more as a protagonist than Rex. Riki was far better than Tora. XBC1 had a plenty of side characters I actually ended up caring for. Gameplay: This is a toss up. I do think XBC2 had the better battle system in general. However, I liked XBC1's battle system. XBC1 battle system felt more involved plus you could auto attack while moving. Why that was taken out of the sequel is beyond me. I'll mention it now since we are talking about gameplay. The gacha system is a huge mistake. It needs to be absent from any Xeno game from here on. Completely unacceptable gameplay mechanic. Field skills need to go as well. It was another shit mechanic from XBC2. Another terrible system from XBC2 were the merc missions. This is why XBC1 was ultimately more fun for me to actually play. I didn't have to deal with some of these frustrations while playing the game. Music: Not much to say here. Both games have amazing soundtracks and I am currently losing sleep to put them on my iPhone. Open field/Dungeons: I'll give XBC2 credit where it's due. Those first few Titans in the game are fantastic. Gormott, Uraya, Mor Adain, Leftherian Archipelago, and Tantal are superb. Can't really say the same about the rest of the areas in the game except for The World Tree. Plus, the Old Factory and Spirit Crucible Elpys were awful dungeons. XBC1 had really solid areas throughout the game and I cannot recall any particular dungeon pissing me off. One minor complaint is that the Ether Mine dragged on a little too long but that's about it. Voice Acting: I played both games in English. XBC1 had far better voice acting. Villains: As much as I love Malos, XBC1 had better villains overall. One of the big bads of XBC2 had some good backstory but his final appearance and his death were lacking. Also, Torna could have been handled way better. I actually did not like Metal Face or some of the other villains in XBC1. In fact, I couldn't wait for them to perish. When the writing makes me hate the villains, then it's good writing imo. Not sure if I covered everything. It's pretty late and I have to catch a flight in a few hours. I would give XBC1 a 9/10 as of right now. It's probably one of the best games I've played in years. XBC2 is more like a 8/10 for me. --- |

Also, I don't know if I should keep hoarding my money. I'm almost at 3 millions right now. Phantom_Nook posted... Focus on quests that have a clock next to them.
