This is pretty much the greatest news ever.

DC is really starting to go after those high profile indie writers.

haven't read Chew past the first issue with the time jump but i enjoyed it a lot

gonna be real interesting to see how he handles a real serious title, though i'd love to see some of that strange humor injected into a Batbook

oh wait, the artist is the guy who drew the annual for Batman? yeah, he's good

so i'm all caught up with the comics i've been following

for DC

Animal Man and Swamp Thing are the only consistently great books

Batman has also been great save for that last issue's OMG REVEAL

Aquaman is surprisingly good except for that wacky issue with Mera going out for dog food where the "normal" humans act like crazy people

Demon Knights is still awesome for swash-buckling fun and real nice CONSISTENT art

Action Comics and Wonder Woman have been up and down, Action more so with how Morrison decided to insert the League storyline just before his first arc was about to finish

The Flash and Justice League are very pretty books but with just good to ok stories

Dial H and Batman Inc are keepers while Earth 2 and World's Finest need something good soon to keep my attention

as for Marvel...

i just read all of Hickman's F4 and FF, and i am kicking myself for not getting into this sooner

Uncanny X-Force (which i'm glad isn't totally being dragged into the AvX mess) and Daredevil continue to be fantastic while Punisher is just a tier below the two (although i am a bit iffy about that upcoming "event" with him as the star)

Captain America has been in on a slow decline but at least Cap and Bucky was great

Winter Soldier fills my action espionage desires nowadays

just watched it and that was horrible

just horrible

i'll need some time to collect my thoughts because it's all just horrible horrible poorly paced "omg plot twist" deus ex machina storybook fairy tale ending finale

but i guess i shouldn't have been expecting too much about it ending in a straightforward good guys vs bad guys manner since it's still a nick show but all depth to the bending and non-bending conflict went down the drain

i actually have very little interest in watching the second season now

yeah, seriously, let's not mention anything about the books

only Solfadore should since it's his topic and even then he should keep to simple comparisons of how the characters are portrayed in the show and the books

to be clear, everyone has done a good job of keeping the discussion to what's been shown on TV so no real spoilers have been brought up!

i'll have to give you that point about Cersei consoling Catelyn but that was a one off thing

and we have to remember it wasn't even borne out of real empathy since she was totally ok with Jaime pushing Bran off the ledge

she only did that to cover up her tracks because Bran didn't die!

but i do have to say that show Cersei has been shown to be more emotionally vulnerable than book Cersei (that scene wasn't in the books IIRC)

book Cersei is actually flirty and less threatening

the gym i go to is pretty small

it's nice in that it's got everything from machines to treadmills to ellipticals to bikes to the entire range of free weights and racks

there's an area for boxing, for stretching and stability exercises, two studios for big aerobics classes, a well maintained swimming pool, nice and clean locker rooms with fully functional showers complete with soap and shampoo and lotion and all that jazz

it's just that there's only one squat rack!

but it looks like i'll be taking more than a month off of going to the gym, not because of my back injury but because i'm transitioning to a new job

just getting an allowance for the first month's training which is clearly not enough to pay for my membership in a month

i'll just take this time to keep doing calisthenics and cut weight to see if i can get a six-pack going so i can say this break will lead to something good!

the squats and deadlifts already did most of the job but my months long bulking has covered it up

the only reasons to go to gamefaqs anyway are if you need some help with a game or if you're into a community here in the boards

people can skip the entire contest by going straight to the search bar or by clicking the links to the platforms or by clicking the boards link

all of which are in the home page

does seeing a banner showing a bunch of video game characters or a boring title and a small picture or two on the POTD box really bring about hate in certain people?

it's a harmless activity that gives away free stuff and takes away nothing from your normal GameFAQs experience! unless you consider the normal POTDs as integral to that but who actually cares if those are there or not?

ah yes, i forgot to mention those two things

still, i think things will still be generally in those two women's favor (well, as much as they can in any story because, you know, conflict)

they're stronger now and i believe they'll be able to tough it out no matter what Weiner throws at them in the following seasons

it's a nice contrast to the main male characters who have come to realize they are empty inside (Pete as realo pointed out), that they are useless and alone (Roger), that they have regressed into their cynical attitude and destructive behavior (Don), and just ended it all in the case of Lane Pryce

it won't be perfect for Joan and Peggy definitely but they've got it much better than the male leads and i think they'll find some measure of happiness that seem to be impossible for Don and co. to ever truly acquire

the juxtaposition of Peggy and Joan shows the extreme contrast of what the two women had to do to finally attain a level of power where they would be seen as equals as the men in authority

the two stand for the ideal women of that decade: Joan for the 50s to early 60s trophy women who were expected to be beautiful, take care of families and the daily operations of offices if they were working (SC and SCDP were in a sense Joan's family) and Peggy for the young and empowered take-charge women of the mid to late 60s who strove for independence and equality in the midst of the feminist movement during that time

Joan had to use her body as the means to finally attain power with the company she's been working for for years while Peggy used her brains and talent to break free from Don's control and be her own boss in another company

both had to give up something (Joan some of her dignity and Peggy her longtime relationship with Don whom she saw as a friend and mentor) and they struggled with it but they got over quickly (which in the case of Joan is somewhat admirable as she understands power no matter the cost is exactly what she needs considering her personal situation)

i'll have to check again what you were referring to about that door opening thing

Roger is definitely nearing the end of his "utility" in the office but i highly doubt that he'd take his own life willingly

we might see him wasting away his years in an alcohol and/or drug fueled haze banging all sorts of women half his age but i don't see him as the kind of guy to go out on one grand act of suicide

or maybe he'll just be happy carrying on his affair with Megan's mom without a care in the world till he dies of a heart attack or lung cancer in his 60s

i think S5 while being as in-your-face with the symbolism as Mad Men can possibly get was a great season overall with instant classics such as Far Away Places and The Other Woman and one of the greatest stretches of episodes from Signal 30 to Lady Lazarus

and hey, the punchier symbolism tied into the turbulent times of change during that period in the 60s and the big moments throughout the season

i think for now it ties with S4 for best season

i'm fine with Betty getting less screen time this season

it's understandable plot-wise (Don and Betty have separated and are leading totally different lives while Megan needs more focus now that she's Don's wife) as well as reality-wise (January Jones was pregnant!)

Kiernan Shipka delivered even with her limited appearances anyway and i'm sure we'll get more of her as well as Betty in the following seasons

holy crap 42°C?

i live in the tropics where it's usually 30-32°C here so i've gotten used to it

during summer, it gets as high 37°C and then it becomes unbearable without AC

i used to go at 6:30pm but ever since a couple of dudes started hogging the squat rack just a bit earlier, i've started going at 8

i never saw it as a problem before but since i started SS, i realize that just one squat rack in the gym is not enough

still haven't gotten back since my injury though but i plan on going next week if my PT clears me

well, i'm more for just not interfering with other people's families

his discrediting of the doctor as a quack based on "unfounded opinions" doesn't really help his case

i've hidden and continue to hide a lot of things from my parents but i can't honestly say they've all been for the better!

besides, we don't have a clear picture of the situation and just describing one's sister being "bats*** crazy" lends me to believe not everything is being said

there fries are the best out of all the fast food chains in the Philippines

their chicken sandwich is good and cheap, too

used to love their chicken nuggets till i started eating healthy and now they just taste weird
