You know, it's never really talked about much, but English dubbed OPs were pretty good if done well.

Now, with the boom of anime culture in recent years, it's getting easier and easier to find passionate people who can really put their all into making a dub of an OP sound just as good as the original.

EDIT: And here's the original for comparison

And I gotta say, I actually kinda like the english one better a little bit! I feel like they have much more energy and enthusiasm in their delivery.

Of course, that might just be because I can actually understand what they're saying.

I still haven't played the third but this seems to be coming out rather fast. I don't mind the style of this entry but I hope Strife is playable in the 4th main entry(if they make one).

Unfortunately it looks like this would be the Strife game from what the trailer suggests.

Also, I think this being a smaller game is a direct result from the third game's low sales, so a 4th mainline game seems more and more unlikely.

So I watched the Kingsglaive movie and it was... okay.

I honestly expected more backstories and stuff about the main four, but it's really just about the one day that happens in the main game once you left the city.

Though it definitely feels like you're supposed to watch it AFTER chapter 1 and not as a prologue.

There's a couple of concepts in the movie that you would really only get and appreciate if you've played the game first.

Other than that, everything was, like I said, okay. The voice acting was great, and I really appreciate that they animated the lip-syncing to the dub as well.

Really, the only meaningful character backstory or lore that I got out of it was that the king was a badass. You only briefly see it in the game but here you really see that, woah, he really deserves the command and respect of the throne.

So yeah, I guess the next thing I have to watch is the short anime series Brotherhood. The thread on reddit said that I'm supposed to watch that after Chapter 7 in the game, so I have a way to go before I do that, since I'm still on chapter 5.

I remember people talking about Tower of God here years ago, like so long that I'm surprised it's still going. I don't remember where I left off, but it was relatively early in.

I remember talking about it when it was still pretty early, like it was still only 30 chapters or so. I dropped it some time after that, but I don't remember why.

Also, apparently FFXV has a movie and miniseries that I need to watch in order to understand the plot?

Of course, I'm still around chapter 5 of a 15 chapter game, so the plot might end up being complete and those would be supplementary things. But all the research I did points to the movie being integral to the game's backstory and lore. The miniseries are apparently just mostly some short episodes to flesh out the chocobros, which I can understand.

But I'm not sure how I feel about a game that has to cut out vital elements of the plot, and can't manage to say what it needs to say within the game itself.

I'm just glad that the short fad of games being this big multimedia thing a while ago hasn't really caught on.

I assumed it already was..

I haven't been following the news about this all that much, but apparently there were a number of issues that prevented it from getting a proper english dub.

Regardless, it's happening now, and I gotta say, the english VAs are doing some pretty damn good jobs.

It helps that they chose the perfect scenes to show off their skills imo. Good job Funimation!

Oh hey, they're gonna dub Nichijou.

Don't really know why they decided they would do it NOW after how many years, but that's cool.

Though, Nichijou is one of the series that has a pretty good amount of Japanese puns and wordplay, so I don't really know how that's gonna work.

Me as well.

In other news, I've started playing Final Fantasy XV. I dunno if it's just me, but the combat can be a little hard to follow sometimes. Like, because everything is so detailed my eyes just get assaulted with too much visual data sometimes. I'm still very early in the game so I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually.

Oh, I found another manhua that fans of Solo Leveling might like.

It's called Burning Effect.

It's still pretty new, with only around 12 chapters out so far, but I can definitely see the potential for it becoming as big as Solo Leveling. The art is what really draws me in for this one. It's like a mix of My Hero Academia and Soul Eater with a splash of american graffiti art styles. And the action! Wow, it's just as smoothly drawn and well composed as Solo Leveling imo.

If you liked Solo Leveling, you might like this one.

Well, looks like I'm getting the Royal edition then.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Quick question for those who played it though, is the last DLC, Episode Ardyn, worth it?

I've already had a budget of around 35 bucks for a new game, so I can afford it.

Shadow of Mordor is excellent. Final Fantasy XV isn't that bad. I haven't played the DLC but the Royal Edition is actually missing episode Ardynso it might be best to wait until Square release another version with everything.

Well according to some articles, Square has stopped developing any DLC for this game some time ago with the Ardynso (sp?) DLC being the last. And seeing as it costs nearly half of the Royal edition just as a standalone DLC, I doubt Square is rushing to put it into a discounted "definitive edition."

Saw this memorial day sale where a new copy FFXV Royal edition, which has all DLC included, is at 20 bucks.

There's also Shadow of Mordor GOTY edition which has all the DLC and is also at $20.

I could also splurge and get the Final Fantasy X/X-2 Remastered set for $35

But I could also get Tales of Vesperia Definitive edition for that price.

Or Red Dead Redemption 2.

Suggestions?

Dear fellow anime/manga friends.

I am just finishing up the light novel Solo Leveling. I was reading the online comic, but....waiting each week for the next one was sooooo slow and eventually I couldn't wait, and switched to the light novel instead.

I want to start reading Solo Leveling's LN as well, but man, I just don't have the patience for reading just words on a page anymore. I need dem visuals!

Well shit... that sucks.

I actually liked Projared and his videos and Holly was always pretty nice when she was a guest on Grumps, but now ehhh.

I gotta wonder how poor Ross feels about all this though.

Having your wife cheat on you is bad enough, but to have her do it with a close personal friend would be just a big kick to the nuts.
