Stalolin 11/12/20 4:54:12 AM #24 | MedeaLysistrata posted... Like I said, police reform isnt one viewpoint that will give the same answer every time. People have different ideas of what it should look like. I dont know how this can be a hard concept to grasp, so do get it right. ... call them? Or to my earlier scenario, crime happens, police find evidence, need to arrest person, person wants to shoot or stab people who want to arrest them. But I take your point - fair enough. Do you know of any articles or books I should read on this? |

Stalolin 11/12/20 4:47:51 AM #22 | MedeaLysistrata posted... Bouncers dont need guns, lol. And bouncers cant make you stay in a drunk tank. They just make you go somewhere else. MedeaLysistrata posted... Force shouldnt be privatised either. But this is just my point, I'm literally not aware of what the actual viewpoint entails in terms of specifics. What does a bouncer do in this situation if someone has a knife or gun? |

Stalolin 11/12/20 4:39:02 AM #19 | MedeaLysistrata posted... There are two separate campss, prison abolition/police abolition and you can have either without the other. So it would depend on who you ask. "Police reform" isn't monolithicI see. |

Stalolin 11/12/20 4:32:51 AM #16 | MedeaLysistrata posted... I don't see how police prevent violent crime unless they are on scene as it happens. They show up after the fact. What about outside nightclubs where a lot of alcohol fueled violence happens? In other scenarios, what happens with apprehending suspects down the line who don't go quietly? |

Stalolin 11/12/20 4:08:34 AM #7 | EzeDoesIt posted... Off-topic but what would you do if that happened now? Do you think the murderer is going to wait for you to call the police and then for them to subsequently arrive, if you ask him nicely or something? He could be locked out but trying to get in. Or if it's not a murderer, a local resident who has been stalking/harassing and wants to do harm. Just for the sake of a more extreme example. |

Stalolin 11/12/20 3:45:23 AM #1 | Help me out here. What do you do if a murderer knocks on your door and says I want to do a murder on you now? I know I have a case of Dumb Brain here but I've been doing a lot of reading on defunding the police, and I'm down to clown, but all I can get out of abolish the police people is that they do in fact mean literally abolish the police. Under what circumstances? How? What about random violent crime? Readings?? |

After more than a decade had passed, her friends and family in her tiny North Texas hometown of Electra had no idea where she wasor if she was dead or alive. They certainly didnt know that almost two thousand miles away her fate was kept secret by a teenage girl named Brianna Stewart. https://www.texasmonthly.com/articles/the-day-treva-throneberry-disappeared/ Dear Leader Dreams of Sushi North Korea is a mythically strange land, an Absurdistan, where almost nothing is known about the people or, more important, their missile-launching leaders. There is, however, one man, a humble sushi chef from Japan, who infiltrated the inner sanctum, becoming the Dear Leader's cook, confidant, and court jester. What is life like serving Kim Jong-il and his heir? A strange and dangerous gig where the food and drink never stop, the girls are all virgins, and you're never really safe.
