Funnily enough, what killed Milo's career was he was given a platform where felt ok expressing his views and ended up talking about underage sex.

When they put it on consoles they weren't allowed to update it as frequently as they wanted without paying out the ass so they abandoned it right away.

Valve above all else are control freaks when it comes to their software. Not necessarily their IPs which they basically freely let people use with some really lax licenses, but they do not like having to conform to anyone's standards for software support except their own + whatever mandatory security certifications/compliance they need legally.
