A Florida man, who aspired to become a police officer, admitted to sexually abusing his cousin during a police department job interview and now faces life in prison.
Stephen Bodley, 26, was convicted by an Orange County jury last week of sexual battery on a child, the office of State Attorney Andrew Bain said in a news release.
Bodley first mentioned "playing sexual games" in a sworn officer application with the Apopka Police Department. He again mentioned the crime during an interview.
"The certified voice stress analysis examiner performed a voice stress examination on Bodley," Bain said. "During the examination, the examiner asked Bodley to expand on concerning answers he provided in a pre-test questionnaire."
Bodley described sexually abusing a child years ago and admitted to it when he was asked to expand further. Detectives tracked down the victim's mother, who said Bodley and the victim had a close relationship, The Tampa Bay Times reported, citing an affidavit.
The victim, a female, told the Florida Department of Children and Families about the abuse, saying it took place over several years, from when Bodley was around 14 to when he was about 19, the newspaper reported.
Bodley's lawyer asked that his confession not be presented during trial, but a judge denied the request.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 24. The conviction carries a sentence of up to life in prison.

Warner Bros. will release the first of its new batch of The Lord of the Rings films in 2026, which will focus on Andy Serkiss Gollum.
Original The Lord of the Rings trilogy filmmaker Peter Jackson and his partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are producing the movie and will be involved every step of the way, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said during an earnings call Thursday.
The project is currently in the early stages of script development from writers Walsh and Boyens, along with Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou, and will explore storylines yet to be told, Zaslav said.

In a press release from Warner Bros. later Thursday morning, the studio revealed that the working title for the film is Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, and it will be directed by and star Serkis in his iconic titular role. The film will be executive produced by Ken Kamins, with Serkis and The Imaginariums Jonathan Cavendish.
Warner Bros. first announced in February 2023 that then-newly installed studio leaders Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy had brokered a deal to make multiple films based on the beloved J.R.R. Tolkien books. The projects will be developed through WB label New Line Cinema. Freemode, a division of Embracer Group, made the adaptive rights deal for books including The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit under a venture named Middle-earth Enterprises.

The original Lord of the Rings trilogy, helmed by Jackson, grossed nearly $3 billion worldwide; Jacksons follow-up trilogy based on Tolkiens The Hobbit matched those grosses.
Jacksons first LOTR trilogy starred Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Liv Tyler, Viggo Mortensen, Sean Astin and Cate Blanchett. That trio of films was nominated for 30 Academy Awards and took home 17 trophies, including best picture for 2003s The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

A Pennsylvania man who credits an alligator named Wally for helping relieve his depression for nearly a decade says he is searching for the reptile after it went missing during a vacation to the coast of Georgia.
Joie Henney has thousands of social media users following his pages devoted to Wally, the cold-blooded companion that he calls his emotional support alligator. He has posted photos and videos online of people petting the 5 1/2-foot (1.7 meter) alligator like a dog or hugging it like a teddy bear. Wally's popularity soared to new heights last year when the gator was denied entry to a Philadelphia Phillies game.
Now Henney said he is distraught after Wally vanished while accompanying him on an April vacation in Brunswick, Georgia, a port city 70 miles (112 kilometers) south of Savannah. He said he suspects someone stole Wally from the fenced, outdoor enclosure where Wally spent the night on April 21.
In social media posts, Henney said pranksters left Wally outside the home of someone who called authorities, resulting in his alligator being trapped and released into the wild.

Henney said he didn't have time to talk when The Associated Press reached him by phone Wednesday morning. He did not immediately return follow-up messages.
The man from Jonestown, Pennsylvania, has previously said he obtained Wally in 2015 after the alligator was rescued in Florida at the age of 14 months.Henney told The Philadelphia Inquirer in 2019 that Wally helped alleviate depression following the deaths of several close friends. He said a doctor treating his depression had endorsed Wally's status as his emotional support animal.

No one has filed police reports about the missing alligator in Brunswick and surrounding Glynn County, according to spokespersons for the city and county police departments.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources confirmed that someone in the Brunswick area reported a nuisance alligator on April 21 the day Henney said Wally went missing and that a licensed trapper was dispatched to capture it. The agency said in a statement that the gator was released in a remote location, but stressed that it doesn't know if the reptile was Wally.
It's illegal in Georgia for people to keep alligators without a special license or permit, and the state Department of Natural Resources says it doesn't grant permits for pet gators. Pennsylvania has no state law against owning alligators, though it is illegal for owners to release them into the wild, according to its Fish and Boat Commission.
David Mixon, a wildlife biologist and coastal supervisor for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, has handled plenty of alligators reported in people's yards and swimming pools. He has also shown gators kept in captivity in presentations to school groups and Boy Scout troops.
He said even alligators that seem docile can be dangerous, and he always makes sure to hold their mouths closed with a hand or, preferably, a band.

Unlike service animals that help people with disabilities such as blindness or post-traumatic stress, emotional support animals have no special training, Kogan said. They also don't have any official registry, though health professionals often write letters of endorsement for owners with a diagnosed mental health condition.

I remember loving the Rebel Sniper who had the Recon Droid with Orbital strike. It was really fun in levels where you could hang back near a resupply droid and just send it out over and over again to wasted Imperials. Yavin is a really good one for that because you can camp in the temple and kill every enemy on your own.

I can't deny that I'm excited to see Neve/Sidney back, though. I genuinely think that Sidney is one of the best characters in horror history.

Her and Laurie Strode are definitely Top 2. And Scream's always been about the survivors, not the killers, unlike pretty much all other horror franchises.
