I think the total change of pace from the first two series really rubbed a lot of fans the wrong way. Exploring space and finding new worlds/races was an integral part of both the original series and TNG...and then along comes DS9, where the show is stuck on a floating chandelier permanently parked next to a glowing space butthole.

I'm glad I stuck with it, the later seasons of DS9 were great....but it was a rough watch in the beginning.

I think I'm the exact opposite. As I get older, I tend to only want to play games with an engaging narrative to it. Stuff like Mario Odyssey, where you're completing tasks just because the game puts them in front of you, feels pointless and time-wasting.

The difference is, a lot of Baby Boomers worked their asses off in their 30's and 40's in order to accumulate the wealth that allows them to live that sort of lifestyle. Millennials seem to just want to skip straight to the "I should only have to do what I want to do" phase of life right out of the gate, and it doesn't work like that.

It's not QUITE the same, but I built a janky Izzet deck full of guttersnipes, electrostatic fields and Niv Mizzets, then a ton of cheap sorceries/instants. Not the most competitive of things, but fun as hell when it pays off.
