Maybe the other seasons of Blackadder just kick tons of ass by comparison, but for the moment, S1 is pretty enjoyable. Just finished the second episode and rather enjoying the historical bent.

I'll add Young Ones, Brasseye, and The Day Today to the list. AYBS is one of those PBS ones I've seen some episodes of, but would like to watch the whole thing through. Not sure why I didn't put it on the list earlier. Might give HGTTU a shot, too (unless you mean the movie, which I've already seen).

Speaking as a Brit, I'd have to say that how can I put this? my personal tastes wouldn't include 'Allo, 'Allo, Dad's Army, or Keeping Up Appearances. Shotgunnova, please try not to judge our output on the basis of those shows.

Not sure if you mean the humor is dated/corny or something about it wouldn't fly today (like the major dropping an n-bomb in Fawlty Towers, in the most famous episode, even), but I doubt it'll bother me.

The story about the brothers who are cursed to turn into geese, and some chick comes along and has to weave blankets out of flax, and then she throws them on the geese to remove their curse, but one brother isn't covered properly and has to live as a human-armed, geese-winged hybrid from then on.
