Or check a different translation or the original Hebrew texts, God is referring to the ground, not a particular place. God is telling Cain that the actual ground beneath him is cursed. That Cain will not experience fruitful harvests, so rather than being able to plant/harvest -> move on, as was the nomadic lifestyle of the time. Being active in some fashion school/work/etc. seemed to keep their mind off things. Now I'm definitely not saying depression has a one-size-fits-all solution, or that this is the fix for you.
