Topic | The Last Of Us is shaping up to be its biggest show since Game Of Thrones |
Scorsese2002 07/21/21 11:41:36 AM #1 | https://www.cinemablend.com/television/2570700/how-hbo-the-last-of-us-budget-biggest-show-game-of-thrones Fans of the hit Naughty Dog video game series, The Last of Us, have had an interesting last couple of years. We got the somewhat polarizing, The Last of Us Part II back in 2020 after years of only having the first game, and then we also received word that we would be getting an HBO series based on the hit property. Well, we now have word that HBOs The Last of Us is shaping up to possibly be its biggest show since Game of Thrones. For those who dont know, The Last of Us video game is about an outbreak in America that transforms people into weird, fungus-like creatures. The lead character, Joel, is traveling across the U.S. with a teenage girl named Ellie who may or may not have the cure living inside of her body. We know the show will change some things up from the game, but we also now know that it will have a massive budget. Part of the show will be shot in the Town of Fort Macleod in Alberta, Canada. And in an article from CTV News, President Damian Petti from the Alberta chapter of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Union (Or just IATSE 212 for short), had this to say: The Last of Us which commences photography this week is indeed a monster. It has five art directors and employs an army of hundreds of technicians. It has had six months of prep and shoots [in Alberta] for 12 months. I cannot confirm the official budget numbers but will say it is likely the largest project shooting in Canada. This is actually very surprising to me. Yes, most of the shows on HBO are typically smaller projects when compared to the fantasy beast that was Game of Thrones, but I definitely didnt think that The Last of Us show would be some massive production. I actually thought it would be more like a stripped-down version of AMCs The Walking Dead, since the games are more of a mixture of creatures called clickers and human villains. In fact, humans are typically your more dangerous foe in the game. But no, this show is apparently going to be massive with a hefty price tag that blows most shows out of the water. In the same article, President Damian Petti, had this to say: This project well exceeds the eight figure per episode mark, so there is a multiplier effect on our economy in terms of its impact. There are hundreds of related businesses benefitting from the plethora of work. Now, hold up. Did you just hear that? This project well exceeds the eight figure per episode mark... Eight figures is at least ten million dollars ($10,000,000), and this show will "well exceed" that amount PER EPISODE. By Season 6 of Game of Thrones, episodes were costing upwards of $10 million to make, so yes, by this admission, The Last of Us will be among if not HBO's biggest show since Game of Thrones. But I honestly cant even fathom what this show will be like now that I know its going to be so expensive to produce. Game of Thrones was about dragons and warring kingdoms. As a fan of The Last of Us, I can tell you with confidence that the video game series is on a much smaller scale than the fantasy juggernaut. Oh, and speaking of Game of Thrones, The Last of Us series will have a Game of Thrones alum in Bella Ramsey who played the young noblewoman, Lyanna Mormont. Shell be in the lead role as Ellie. The Mandalorian star, Pedro Pascal, will be playing Joel. I actually dont know if Im more or less excited about the HBO show now that I have a gauge of what its going to cost. I loved the first The Last of Us game because it was a deeply personal story about a grieving father and his relationship with a teenage girl who he protects as if she were his own. Will this HBO show be more about the monsters than the pulsing, beating heart of the series, which was always more about relationships? Only time will tell. --- |

The elderly man, whose name was not released, was found just after 9:30 a.m. Monday inside the first-floor hallway of 256 Corson Ave., according to police. The man, who was shirtless and lying face up, had cuts to his forehead and two black eyes, police said. On his chest, the words I touch little girls were written in black ink, police confirmed. Cops also found the words I take dolls in my room for girls age 1-5 on his stomach and I touch on his foot, according to police sources. Topic | RUMOR: Netflix and PlayStation teaming up for game streaming service |
Scorsese2002 07/16/21 1:51:32 PM #1 | https://gamerant.com/netflix-playstation/ This past week reports revealed that Netflix, the online subscription movie and television show service, was planning to enter the game streaming industry. The idea that Netflix, the industry leader in video streaming, might soon be competing with Xbox, Google, Amazon, and others, is an exciting possibility. Now the story has grown even more intriguing. A recent discovery found within the Netflix app implies that Netflix could be partnering with PlayStation for its streaming plans. A datamine of Netflix's app for iOS devices pulled up two specific images that could draw the attention of PlayStation fans. The first is the most intriguing. It's a custom piece of graphic art featuring two stylized PlayStation 5 controllers seemingly floating in a blue/purple gradient with bubbles floating around them. There's no Netflix branding on the image, but the custom nature of the image and its location within the Netflix iOS app imply a more complex plan or partnership. The second image is much blunter. It's an image from PlayStation's exclusive release Ghost of Tsushima. More specifically, it's the game's cover art featuring Ghost of Tsushima's protagonist, Jin Sakai. Again, there's no Netflix branding on the image, but the fact that a Ghost of Tsushima image has been found within the Netflix iOS app at all is mysterious at worst and evidence of a potential partnership at best. There is one other image that was discovered alongside both of the PlayStation-related images. It isn't related to PlayStation but is tied to the service itself. It's a logo for what could be Netflix's game streaming brand. Its name is N Game, with the "N" being Netflix's logo. On its own, it seems like further confirmation of Netflix's plans to support game streaming. The lack of any PlayStation branding is also notable. Ultimately, it should be clear why a potential partnership between Netflix and PlayStation for game streaming is still considered just a rumor. While there's inarguably evidence of PlayStation-related graphics within Netflix's iOS app, there's no obvious sign of a confirmed partnership. It seems like a logical conclusion to jump to, but that doesn't mean it's true. PlayStation does still have its own service in PlayStation Now, after all. If Netflix is partnering with PlayStation for game streaming, it would be a major announcement. A Netflix partnership would have significantly more potential than PlayStation Now. It could even be argued that the moment Netflix launches its PlayStation-partnered game streaming service as part of its current subscription with no price increase, that it'd instantly be the largest such service on the market. That wouldn't make it Netflix's game streaming successful, of course, but it'd be an instant massive competitor to Xbox Cloud Gaming with Xbox Game Pass, at the very least. . . . . https://twitter.com/SteveMoser/status/1415648333373259777?s=20 --- |

Topic | Trump is suing Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey |
Scorsese2002 07/07/21 11:15:35 AM #1 | https://www.dailydot.com/debug/trump-is-suing-mark-zuckerberg-jack-dorsey/?amp Former President Donald Trump is suing Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai after being booted from multiple platforms following his posts amid the Capitol riot earlier this year. In a press conference, Trump called it a beautiful lawsuit and a pivotal battle over the First Amendment. He said his lawsuit would sue for an end to shadowbanning and censoring. Trump, who has long complained about a perceived bias against conservatives on social media and was obsessed with attacking Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act near the end of his presidency, announced the lawsuit today at a press conference. The news was first reported by Axios. The lawsuits will be class-action, with Trump as the lead plaintiff. It remains to be seen whether the suit will stand up to legal scrutiny. Trump has a long history of filing lawsuits that dont go anywhere. Just last week a federal judge blocked a highly criticized social media law in Florida that would have allowed the state to fine social media companies that banned political candidates. The judge granted a preliminary injunction request and argued that the trade groups representing tech companies that sued were likely to prevail in their arguments that the law violates the First Amendment. Trumps incoming lawsuit also comes as he contemplates another run at the presidency after losing in the 2020 election. The former presidents reach has dramatically declined since being banned from Facebook and Twitter, and his attempt at launching a blog to connect with his fans was shut down after it wasnt getting much engagement. In May, Facebooks Oversight Board upheld the social media giants decision to ban Trump, but it also said it disagreed with the companys decision to ban him indefinitely. In response, Facebook announced last month that Trump would remain banned for two years and will re-evaluate to see if the risk to public safety has receded. --- |

Scorsese2002 07/06/21 11:08:32 AM #1 | https://www.tmz.com/2021/07/06/britney-spears-retires-from-music-manager-larry-rudolph-says-in-resignation/ Britney Spears is hangin' up the mic and intends to retire from the music business ... so says her longtime manager, Larry Rudolph, who just submitted his resignation. Rudolph sent an email Sunday night to Britney's personal conservator, Jodi Montgomery, and the conservator of her estate, Jamie Spears, saying, "It has been over 2 1/2 years since Britney and I last communicated, at which time she informed me she wanted to take an indefinite work hiatus. Earlier today, I became aware that Britney had been voicing her intention to officially retire." Rudolph went on to say he's not part of the conservatorship and in the dark regarding lots of details, adding, "I was originally hired at Britney's request to help manage and assist her with her career. And as her manager, I believe it is in Britney's best interest for me to resign from her team as my professional services are no longer needed." Rudolph's resignation comes on the heels of Britney's testimony in which she said she was forced to perform and never wanted to do the European tour. TMZ broke the story ... sources connected to the conservatorship say it's the opposite -- she begged to go on the tour and there are allegedly emails and other communications to support that. Nevertheless, if Britney is really retiring, there's no need for a music manager. Rudolph ended his email with this ... "I will always be incredibly proud of what we accomplished over our 25 years together. I wish Britney all the health and happiness in the world, and I'll be there for her if she ever needs me again, just as I always have been." Britney had said she would never perform as long as her dad was part of her conservatorship. As we reported, Jamie continues to be the sole conservator of her estate ... Bessemer Trust just bowed out as it was about to become co-conservator with Jamie. --- |
