The new Zero fan translation is fantastic btw, and playing through it now means you might get caught up before Cold Steel 4 comes out!

CS4 is out relatively soon, right? Knowing me, I doubt I would pull that off, but just the same I am leaning toward grabbing the Sky games for Steam this weekend now. And yeah, I've heard amazing things about Zero's translation!

Trails in the Sky's keyboard/mouse controls are great so unless you want/need the controller for other reasons I wouldn't call it a requirement. Like I went through the trouble of getting a wired 360 controller way back when but liked the KBM controls enough that I never bothered with using it.

Hmm. Well, I'm managing to play old FF and DQ care with touch controls now so I reckon I can attempt KBM first. Anything is possible now. lol

I'm good! Moved back to Arizona after a decade in the South, got tired of the humidity. Working and living in Phoenix now and working on getting a cat after my girlfriend (who used to dislike cats) fell in love with her sister's cat while we stayed at her place when we first moved up here.

I'm also annoying every native Arizonan that complains about the heat by telling them at least it's a dry heat.

rofl, I did the same thing over there back in 08. Arizonites were telling me before I got there that I "did not yet know what heat was." No. I knew what death was. I lived in Mesa btw! Visit Flagstaff sometime if you can. It's amazingly temperate. And yay cat!

I hold the (somewhat uncommon?) opinion that the games like a 7 up until the end of the early 2300AD segment, at which point it becomes a 9 and never looks back. Which is to say, it starts off as a decent enough little romp but a few hours in is when it clicks for me in a big and captivating way.

The two-decade dormancy of this franchise is an absolute friggin shame.

Oh, that makes a lot more sense. Well Im sorry to have vanished at such a point, then, all things considered. I think the game is superb. Hard as nails but not in a way which ever frustrated me so much as it challenged me to go back and make amends for my mistakes again and again.

Season was great. Made up for season twos wildly uneven quality. The shows nuance has faded and formerly complex notions have been simplified to an extent, and that led to a surprisingly straightforward plot this year. But I think thats honestly more or less what it needed now.

Finale, and to an extent the season in full, reminded me a lot of a weird mix between MGS4, Fight Club, and... Voltaire? Whatever, I dug it.

Obviously, I am big friends with Leon, and I do chat with Eddv/Ana/KBM (whose user name I cant figure out for some reason) daily as well, so its a little bit silly tagging them, but hey, whatevs.

So this isnt like the most serious thing in the world or anything but I want to apologize for all affected for being unable to stick with any board projects for like... at least three to four years, now. My whole shtick about coming and going is well-documented, but I really should not be trying to do stuff like multi-user Trek character countdowns and detailed RPG rankings projects when I know full well that I might not be around to finish them. (Thats twice now Ive left yall hanging on Trek; mad props to Eddv and Kaelee for never asking me what the hell, though it would have been warranted nonetheless!)

I think what happens, and this is why my disappearance acts have been so rampant for so long now, is that either my life gets tumultuous in a hurry, or my health issues manifest in a bad way again, or I overextend myself big-time. Im blessed in that the first of those things happens far less these days than it used to, but it does still happen. I do have to contend with serious health issues, though, and otherwise I just dont let logic override personal ambition and I will overreach and end up abandoning something for several months. Like, Ive had to really make sure that doesnt happen with my ResetEra moderator position (go ahead and laugh if you think the sites a joke, its OK, Ill live), because I enjoy that and its actually helping me further my industry connections a little bit, too. So Im being careful there, and not throwing myself into the forums and into reports for six hours a day or anything, so that I dont burn out or get too caught-up in something which realistically needs my time far more.

I enjoy swinging by here when I can, but Im going to be a lot more cautious about starting up projects, because I think we all kinda know they probably wouldnt get finished. And while I know Im historically not at all alone in low completion rates here, I still felt like apologizing anyway.

#46 Rom
"Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.. brother?"

Rom's funny, though not always for the reasons which the writers intended. For starters, he's kind of a dark dude in the first season of the show. His dumbness is already established (although his smart-on-the-inside traits are not yet present) but he's also kind of a brooding, vengeful father/brother figure. He outright attempts to kill Quark in the first big Ferengi episode of the series. Would the Rom of any future season come within seconds of pressing the airlock button? Family is everything to him thereafter. He's also a hostile and unappreciative father to Nog at first -- another clash.

I can tell you all that fresh off my memory because I just finished season one in my latest rewatch. But of course, Rom doesn't really come into his own until later on. He's thrifty, innovative, and has a heart of gold -- not gold-pressed latinum. He's a good dad and an even better mechanic. The whole shtick gets old sometimes. Really old. For every genuinely hilarious Rom moment, there is at least one Rom moment in which his freak-outs and high-pitched wailing during an otherwise-serious occasion are like tripping in plaster. But hey, the good moments are good.

I've never been bothered by Rom becoming Grand Nagus in the penultimate episode of Deep Space Nine but I know some fans who absolutely hate it. (I think @Eddv is one of them.) I find it funny, and I don't tend to think of any Ferengi society episodes as attempting to be anything but funny. Quark keeps the bar; Rom and Leeta run off to radically rule the Ferengi Alliance. So be it. It's comedy.

From an Akira Toriyama double whammy in Dragon Ball and Dragon Quest XI to literally Scooby-Doo, our favorite Squall diehard is boldly going in several directions. As for myself, I'm all eyes on Star Trek: Picard after a terrific series premiere that feels in every way like a solid continuation that honors one of the smartest, wisest characters in science fiction. (I'm also playing World of Final Fantasy. Which is a trip.)

I'm so glad you're enjoying Dragon Ball, Leon. Hopefully you'll enjoy Z as well. Z is, of course, the bread and butter for most Western fans. And it's good! But as I'm sure you've heard many times over, the pacing can be... questionable at times. Not insofar as nothing happens -- far from it -- but the amount of time that certain things take in the midst of a happening can be... ridiculous is a good word for it, methinks.
