Also knowing someone's partner's gender is incredibly important to conversations just because straight people and gay people go through different things in a relationship. Gender gives you a better idea of what metric to measure things they say and also the expectations for their life/career goals

This topic is full of people congratulating elliot, and then discussing the syntax of pronouns without any transphobic elements. It's definitely a more mature and considerate topic than it would have been even a few years ago.

Oh my argument there was about how cancel culture is based on celebrities, and it's hypocritical that people are so willing to be okay with it in one context, but if its family and loved ones, it's tolerated and dealt with rationally. In that topic everyone said they had people in their lives that acted that way, but the idea to public shame them or call their work is ludicrous. Nothing there was said to reflect my own opinion of the right answer, just to shed light on that particular hypocrisy. (Also it was Sephy G's argument that I jumped on if I recall)

The second point you get at is me speaking in a sort of exaggerated hyperbolic manner. Again, I put a lot of nuance in my posts to both make them entertaining to read and to encourage a heavier reader engagement. To put it in simpler terms, watermelon joke is the KKK marching in the street and the ken jennings joke is a guy wearing a "No fat chicks" t-shirt. I believe free speech should protect both of them equally, but I'm not going to be the guy who fights for the KKK or defends them in any way even if I think they do need that defense.

and because it's you lasa I'll remove the artistry from my posts and make it clear that defending free speech= defending the social okayness of making bad jokes on twitter in this particular analogy.

you are massively misremembering my argument, I wouldn't have done that because I literally have no idea who fchamp is.

The extent of my watermelon argument was essentially the same as this argument, humor is healing and bridge building so it doesn't make sense to pile on when someone does it bad. No one starts out making perfect jokes, except for me of course.

I made this argument and then someone pointed out it was a "black people like watermelon joke" which, again, I still personally wouldn't shame him for (I mean outside of the fact that it sucks shit as a joke), but I found the joke so incredibly distasteful that I withdrew my entire argument and defense. I'm still embarrassed that I didn't understand that joke before going into my rant (which is incredibly solid) and I actually am sorry I gave the poster, apparently named fchamp, even a lick of credit.

from what I understand with people I know who have disphoria, is that it's less about wanting to be a different gender but rather a supreme discomfort with the sex they got at birth. They're fine being seen as non-binary (as chances are that's closer to what most trans people feel), but go with opposite gender for sake of simplicity in our gender based world.

Race jokes are funny, and in a lot of ways, healing. My cuban family loves sharing jokes comedians do about cubans. My irish family loves irish jokes. In a way, it makes races that normally feel maligned feel like someone is paying attention (if the joke is done right)

Lots of people like that are pretty good people who don't know how to deal with their sexual urges. Therapy isn't offered, and it's the one ailment that society won't accept you for. These parts of them fester and without an outlet they turn into things like what he was arrested for.

I love final fantasy 9 but 8 is def the winner here. It's such a unique game that covers all it's flaws.

15 is really only good after you played the others since it's basically a game about jamming to old final fantasy tunes while you drive a car through the desert

This is what I've been shouting from the rooftops for the past however many years. Lots of people conflate "offensive" and "not funny." On the other end of the spectrum, a good race/height/whatever based joke is based on truth, so it's not really seen as "offensive."

The problem is you gotta crawl before you walk, so in order to make good jokes you have to try out a few bad jokes. Going into twitter like it's the national archive of every joke anyone has ever made just to find the ones in poor taste is like googling someone's devienart and slamming them for their awful pictures of pregnant sonic.

Xenoblade Chronicles X will probably forever be the most ambitious game ever made, I doubt we will ever get a game as with as even of a fun/deep/engaging ratio in the future.

My dream sequel is the exact same planet as Mira thousands of years in the future but it's heavily developed and changed.

I would personally like to hear a defense at how this statement insults people in wheelchairs. Obviously "insult" is a nuance we don't have a definition for, but to me this joke is the exact same amount of tame as "nothing sadder than a hot guy who's 5'3''" which, while I haven't been on twitter in a while, seems to be an acceptable joke still even in 2020.

The reason I'm pressing it, is because from where I'm standing you think there's something inherently "fucking disgusting" about treating people in wheelchairs the same way we treat everyone else. This was an earnest attempt to kind of check the temp of a statement that you made that made some problematic hairs on my back stand up. Now that I've seen you backpedal, I'm p sure you've already started to realize the problematic nature of what you said

Once you're on them, you can't get off, they're busywork, and offer nothing as far as exploration. They moved pokemon to there and removed them from other parts of the game and reduced the encounter odds. The level scaling doesn't quite fit with where you are in the game, and the whole "get crystals in order to trade for no reason" is frustrating, slow, and serves no purpose storywise or mechanics wise.

Also I liked having Moltres in Victory Road. That's just personal preference but giving moltres its own area doesn't really do anything to the point where it makes the game better.

I think this is the biggest thing. Pokemon doesn't build off itself. Which, ideally, should mean we're getting new fresh ideas every gen but in practice it means we get the same ideas but incompatible with the past gen (mega evolutions, z moves, and dynamax)

Also, the tutorials, and the way the game painfully slows to a halt to deliver ANY information is a huge flaw. Lots of games have interesting ways to get around this nowadays but pokemon seems to get worse with every gen.

I also don't think "they're the same game" is that big of a problem. Pokemon red/blue can be replayed for eternity without getting old.
