Okay story time.

Background information to know:

When Chris left Board 8 for 4-5 months I went on a self discovery tour about what made me happy. This was when large swaths of me that this board knew kind of just up and died. That is a very, very positive statement.

So Katherine is a person I met off of reddit - either r4r or dirtypenpals. One is a very broad personal ad subreddit, the other is for erotic correspondence with others - Sometimes chat, sometimes RP. But yeah, doesn't muich matter. We had talked quite a bit during my time away from board 8, knew each other's kinks pretty well and got along. Howeber we hadn't called in a couple of months and I noticed last night she had deleted me off her contacts, so I messaged her asking to be re-added and she did. Now when we had been talking last she lived half way across the country but it turned out she had moved to my city in the last couple of months and was house sitting for someone who is away on vacation for a week.

So at 12:33 she added me and ponderd why she deleted me. We talked for a couple of minutes and she asked what was up. I said she was one of the best dirty talkers I could remember and I was a bit sad we hadn't talked. Then she asked me if I wanted to come over and repair her tv. I sad I could probably help but she was also probably joking.

At 12:39, 6 minutes after we began talking again, she texted me her address. I was a bit stunned. After a few minutes of discussion I said sure, I'll be over and hopped into my car. I had one new skype message as i sat down in the car.

"Bring condoms, you know.. just in case.
Don’t ask, just accept it"

To be continued...

Fun information about my list. I went and calculated average rankings by type for my list.

Fairy - 21.46
Ghost - 40.11
Psychic - 40.60
Grass - 40.93
Flying - 41.25
Steel - 43.44
Electric - 45.30
Ice - 46.00
Rock - 48.86
Ground - 49.83
Fighting - 51.00
Bug - 51.91
Normal - 57.07
Water - 60.38
Fire - 62.75
Dragon - 65.86
Poison - 66.43
Dark - 76.25

Fairy type is far ahead of the pack, even with Fairy types at 56 and 94 on my list. Water is also unusually low on my list despite 3 Water types in my top 10, except for the fact I also have 5 Water types in my bottom 10. Several other types are rather low on my list due to this generation having very few good Pokemon to represent those types.

I counted Oricorio as Fire/Electric/Ghost/Psychic/Flying, while Type: Null/Silvally was only counted as Normal.

i plan to maybe do stats like this for everyone. stay tuned!

XIII: Looks great. Nearly picked it, but Incineroar is just so much better.

swordz9: Owliver Queen as Robin HOOd

Luster Soldier: The Ghost typing was an unexpected surprise when Decidueye got revealed since we took it for granted that Rowlet/Dartrix would retain the secondary Flying typing since it started out with a dual typing in the first stage. Dual typed Pokemon rarely ever see their secondary type change upon evolving, with very few exceptions outside of Mega Evolutions. Had it not been for the reveal of Primarina, I would have been using this Pokemon instead for my Sun/Moon playthrough. I was originally on the Rowlet train before defecting much later. Thanks to Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, I can pick Rowlet in my playthrough of that game.

Paratroopa1: yeah, alright. he's pretty good. I can only stand in the way of him winning this whole thing so much. (he did win right? shit, do I look like a fucking idiot now?) (Steiner note: yes)

Inviso: By the end of Gen VI, the highest Grass-type in my overall ranking was Bulbasaur, coming in just inside the top fifty. I don't much care for Grass Pokemon, you see. They're either pretty and weak, or ugly and weak, or ugly and easily surpassed by either the Fire or Water starter for any given generation. But then Rowlet came along. Sure, I'm inherently biased in favor of Litten because fire kitty, but Rowlet turned my head (180 degrees, 'cause owl.) Then the final evos got leaked and Decidueye turned out to be a total badass. Incineroar and Primarina still looked good to me (seriously, great starter trio), but they couldn't compare to an owl using its wing as a bow to fire feather arrows. That's AWESOME. AND it would give us a Grass/Flying-type that I could actually enjoy (screw you Tropius/Jumpluff). But then...Grass/Ghost. My heart sank and I was PISSED. Because not only did this remove my hopes of a Grass/Flying-type, but it also made it so I couldn't use Decidueye and Mimikyu on the same team. That sucked. But still, I pushed forward and picked Rowlet, and I'm SO glad I did. Decidueye's design is amazing (best Grass-type, as I've stated), its unique move is awesome, and it's got JUST the right talents to be useful competitively, with some bulk to keep from being a glass cannon. It's a top ten Pokemon overall, and it's definitely the best of this generation.

ctes: Very badass Pokemon. It has such a cool design and gimmick with the bow. Basically a forest elf. The ghost type is kinda unnecessary, as keeping flying would've worked just fine, but it's no issue. Any of flying, ghost and dark would've worked.

StifledSilence: Assassin's Creed Owl was almost my first choice, but I couldn't say no to Wrestler Kitty.

Ermine: Badass Archer Owl. Thank god he turned out amazing considering how Popplio's line was ruined for me.

Cybat: Some minor things about his appearance keep him from reaching the top but this is still a really cool starter. Ghost Pokemon in general fared well this gen.

profDEADPOOL: Owliver Queen best starter family

Raka_Putra: The coolest final evo of the starter by a mile. I was caught offguard by its typing, I thought it'd be Grass/Flying. Cool stuff.

Cybat: Before the games came out, I tried to stay away from spoilers so I didn't look at any leaked images or anything, but I couldn't help seeing people talk about how there was a Ghost/Fire version of Marowak. "Wow", I thought, "that sounds like it would be awesome." And it is.

ctes: This is the only Alolan form where it cannot be argued that it's way cooler than its regular form. They really nailed it with this one with the staff, colors, green fire, everything. I absolutely love it outside of facing it with the prime stall team, where it's pretty tough to take care of as nothing can reliably switch in. Ghost/Fire works perfectly, even with how tragic it actually is that Marowak is a ghost type here. They basically looked at Marowak and got a perfect idea. It could have been a new Pokemon, but Marowak's design works so good with it that I don't see why. There's nothing I would change here.

StifledSilence: This more than makes up for Lavender Town's Pokemon Tower.

Ermine: Cool.

Inviso: I like Marowak, but this is an EXTREMELY cool concept that I'm glad fit the theme the way it did.

Brayze_II: thicc club

Raka_Putra: I never used it but it's still really cool!

mnkboy907: GameFreak sure screwed up on it's movepool. Literally learns its signature attack at a level before it can evolve. What.

Luster Soldier: I never really cared for regular Marowak that much, but at least this is a much better improvement over the original. The ghostly looking fire on the opposite ends of its bone looks cool. The addition of the Ghost typing to Alolan Marowak also pays homage to the Marowak ghost from the Gen I games, so that's a good way of showing that GameFreak knows the history of their Pokemon.

Paratroopa1: you did marowak, but cooler. good job! and now I can never remember what fucking type it is

Raka_Putra: Ah yes, the most adorable starter Pokemon to ever start. Rowlet is just so precious with its little leaf bowtie and its very round body. OMG. I just want to cuddle one for the rest of my life.
mnkboy907: Adorable little Grass owl. Loved it from the very beginning

profDEADPOOL: Owliver Queen best starter family

ctes: Rowlet is the best gen 7 NFE there is. (Steiner note: tru) It's super loveable and while the anime has little impact this ranking because so little of it is out, Rowlet is where it gets to have influence. I love Ash's Rowlet. It's hillarious. Rowlet really is a perfect NFE in general.

Paratroopa1: it was the moment that they announced that there would be an owl starter that I knew sun and moon was going to be the best pokemon game ever, and lo and behold, it was, and nobody was surprised, except for all of the wrong people who don't think it's the best pokemon game ever

Inviso: It's an absolutely adorable owl that actually made me want to choose the Grass starter for the first time in forever. Not bad at all.

Luster Soldier: In the past, Grass starters in each generation have faced a serious uphill battle to receive majority support for their respective generation. Back in Gen I, the starter battle was between Charmander and Squirtle, with Bulbasaur being a distant third place (sorry Bulbasaur fans). There is a sizable minority that always pick the Fire starter since their first starter was Charmander, or those who always pick Water since their first starter was Squirtle. Because of this, future Grass starters were at a disadvantage because their ""guaranteed"" fanbase was much smaller than the Fire and Water starters.

For a Grass starter to get the majority support for a specific generation, it comes down to 2 main factors - a Grass starter with a great design, plus the other 2 starters being a disappointment upon reveal to win the support of people who have no specific preference for any starter type. The reveal of Rowlet was the first time this trend would be defied. Some people made their choice immediately upon reveal, which is why it's a good thing that Rowlet impressed people upon the initial reveal. The later reveals of the evolutions also helped out Rowlet's cause, since the official reveal of Incineroar didn't really impress too many people on the Fire side and the same for Brionne/Primarina on the Water side for being too feminine.

swordz9: Adorable little owl

Cybat: Oh hey, owls are cute.

StifledSilence: Reasonably cute owl.

PrinceKaro: Though useless in most other ways, Rowlet will give you 3 experience points if you brutally kick it between two upright poles.

PrinceKaro: Daytime form is superior.

swordz9: Midday > Night

StifledSilence: Both forms are pretty cool. I approve.

Cybat: I really wanted to like this guy more, but neither of his designs appeal to me that much. And seriously, they gave a signature move to one form but not the other one? Rude.

Raka_Putra: Awesome! Which forme is better?

hotdogturtle: You know how people on the internet always swoon over all the dog and cat Pokemon? I'm the opposite way, those Pokemon turn me off for being boring. That's why Midday form is my less favorite of the two; it's TOO much like a normal wolf (yeah, it's made of rock but you can barely even tell). Midnight form has a cooler design for me since it's at least based on a more ficticious monster. They're both underwhelming though. Midday has an exclusive Rock-type priority move but it's still not worth using.

Luster Soldier: Ranking this Pokemon is tough because it has 2 different forms. My idea to rank this Pokemon was to figure out where each form would have been on my list if the 2 forms had to be ranked separately and then average out their placements. While I think the Midday form is far superior, the Midnight form design doesn't really impress me at all. The Midday form feels like the natural evolution to Rockruff and the Midnight form is too different and unnatural looking. Midday form also has better speed, which is helpful when playing through the game.

ctes: It feels super weird to rank these two together. They're basically two different Pokemon with the same name. And very different too. It's stupid they're not two different Pokemon. It'll just be an annoying mechanic for completing the Pokedex in any future games (except Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon of course). This gets to be somewhat of an average ranking of the two as a result. The midnight version, while having a pleasing speed stat compared to everything else in the game almost, looks pretty bad honestly. I don't really like it. Basically looks like someone woke up the cool form in the morning and it's just too tired to do anything. That form alone would've finished quite low for such a disappointing evolution to a cool Pokemon. The midnight form however, is just what Rockruff needed to turn into. It's super cool. They manages to not just make it bland and give it something cool and unique so that it's not just a bigger, less cute, but stronger looking evolution. Great job there. While not too close to the top, it would've finished higher if these two weren't ranked together.

mnkboy907: Midnight forme sucks, and Midday forme is underwhelming compared to Rockruff. Oh well. It's decent.

Paratroopa1: well lycanroc is kind of really like two different pokemon so I sorta had to split the difference. lycanroc part 1 is a cool but sort of boring wolf. lycanroc part 2 reminds me too much of some kind of terrible sonic character or some shit. one would probably be about 50 and one would probably be about 90 so I met somewhere in the middle. and now because I'm thinking of wolves PART 3 is where I link to WOLF: THE ANIMATED FEATURE and you watch it

Ermine: Both forms are amazing. One of the best lines to date in all of Pokemon.

Inviso: It's a real shame that we have to rank Lycanroc as a collective pair, because it would EASILY have topped this list if I were ranking based solely on Midday. Unfortunately, Midnight Lycanroc looks like a wannabe and a tryhard punk with a weak color scheme that ultimately renders it unappealing. Not enough to drop Lycanroc down TOO much, but let me put it this way: if I were ranking Midday Lycanroc as a singular entity...it would rank second behind Espeon in terms of my overall list. In a lot of ways, my reasons for liking Midday are very similar to why I like Espeon. With Espeon, she stands out because Psychic types have a tendency to be these ugly monstrosities that either look disturbingly humanoid, or alien in nature. By bucking the trend and lookign beautiful, Espeon stands out, and manages to boost my appreciation with formidable battle prowess. Midday is the same deal. Rock-types tend to be bulky and jagged and angular, and there's a tendency to be these hulking beasts that walk on two legs (Rhydon/Rhyperior, Armaldo, Aggron, Tyranitar, Regirock, Tyrantrum, Carracosta.) Midday is a Rock-type that LOOKS lean and fit and FAST (which is not a trait often used to describe Rock-types.) It has the speed and the unique priority move to be useful and battle, and honestly? It stands out given how rare mono-type Rock Pokemon are. I just wish they didn't do the dumb split evolution thing for Rockruff, because Midnight really does hold Midday back.

Drakeryn: "Sometimes there are no choices. Sometimes it's history decides. Just have to hope history doesn't get it wrong." - Judah Low (Iron Council) (also, I am just ranking day form)

It's been my favorite Green Day song for like a decade, get fucked

First song you think of? Quit showing off.

Do you have any favorite songs by a band that isn't a deep cut off a relatively unpopular album?

do you have any idea what you're talking about
