i'm not even using hyperbole here:

not even really their listeners being dumb enough to believe it...most americans want universal background checks

but the NRA pays the GOP to prevent that from happening

Would a universal background check have prevented ANY school shooting?

it wouldnt prevent the ones where the kid has access to his law-abiding parents' guns

i think people overplay the customization on android too much imo. unless you're going to root your phone, customization is pretty much just arranging which icons you want on your home screen and maybe setting up a widget or two.

tbh when i get a new android phone normally i spend like 20 minutes changing a few things and then i honestly dont touch it again.

there are a lot of benefits to android over ios imo but customization i think is kind of overblown

running past them is a viable tactic sometimes, especially if you're low on resources and a bonfire is in sight, or you're retrying a boss

as a consumer, how a company manages its product is not my problem, it's theirs, and frankly to put the future of a game hostage contingent on SOMEONE spending thousands upon thousands on little in-game trinkets is a pretty shitty business practice no matter how you slice it

we'd need good guys with bombs at the school to fight him

Avoiding charges for any content related things. No mention of boosters or skips, just cosmetic DLC funding extra content. This was literally the promised land 8 months ago. Come back down to earth off that space elevator you call a soapbox.

it's astounding to me that there are people who have experience with video games in the past and yet have no issues consistently lowering the standards for the products they buy.

cosmetics are fun. it used to be that people would beat a game on hard mode, search for secrets, do challenges, etc all to get cosmetics, because it's fun to get little rewards and it's especially fun to show it off online.

now what devs have done is taken that fun stuff out of the game and placed it instead into a digital storefront. sometimes they will throw the player a PR bone by making it so you can do something unpleasant, like incessant grinding, to get it, but at the end of the day it's taking out content from a full-priced game and just reselling it to you.

there's no benefit to the consumer other than a promise that if you pay $10 for a different colored hat, the devs will be able to continue supporting your game and not shut off the servers after a year or something.

What Im getting at is maybe shes not supposed to be strong. And it is supposed to be emotional

thats the twist, you think its just a brain in a jar like the first metroid and then mother brain stands up and takes up like half the screen

it's an early instance of a cinematic moment in a video game

you first see mother brain looking like it did in the NES metroid, a spiky brain in a jar. then it stands up and you go OH shit.

you get your ass kicked in by it, until the last metroid, the one you saved, gives up its life for you so you can get the badass hyper beam and blast the fuck out of mother brain.

one of the most memorable moments in gaming history imo

also one more piece of advice i have, and i know this is going to be really controversial, is to look up the locations of the Estus Shards.

I know that a lot of the fun of Dark Souls games is figuring things out as you go along, but if this is your first DS game especially, having the shards will be very helpful to you as you adapt to how the game works.

At the very least I'd suggest looking up the general location of where they are (ex: "ok, I know there is one shard in Earthen Peak"). IMO there is a difficulty spike when you get to Irithyll so I think it would be helpful to ensure that you have the proper amount of healing items so you are prepared.

but of course this is up to you and your playstyle. some people like surprises, some don't, and some like a mix

Any benefits to killing NPCs, then?

you can loot their stuff. a few of them have some good things

some have special questlines, some have special items for sale, some become phantoms you can summon to help you on tough parts, etc. and once you kill an NPC he's dead for good so it's not worth it

tips

- get a controller if you have one, much better than kb+m for this type of game

- take combat slow and get used to the pace. only attack when you have an opening

- dont freak out about dying and losing your souls. you'll have lots of chances to get more souls and it's not like DS games arent generous with them. they are no doubt hard games and punishing but they're (usually) not overly punishing for the sake of making things unpleasant for the player

- practice rolling, dont rely on your shield

- know that you dont always have to lock on to an enemy. sometimes it is easier to fight without locking on. you'll get a feel for this more as you play

- 90% of the time, when you get to an enemy encounter that you think is obnoxiously difficult, there is some kind of secret or way to make it more manageable. for example you might come to a bridge with 5 enemies on it and you wonder how you kill them, but if you look around you'll find there's a secret path to get around to the side of the bridge so you can sneak past the enemies or take them out from behind. shit like that

- use summons when you need them, this really helps on tough bosses

- google what the different attributes do and figure out what you want to specialize your dude in as you level up. i find the best way to do this is to pick a weapon or weapon type and build your guy around this (i.e. heavy weapons vs light ones)

- dont freak out about decisions you make leveling, as i said before the game is hard but in terms of overall design it's not punishing. you can always recover from a build that you dont like or whatever, the game is generous with souls and you can even farm them at certain points

- sorceries make the game ez mode in the early levels

my wife and i were talking about this yesterday. she is a HS teacher and is absolutely terrified of this because every teacher goes to school now with the idea in their head that they might be the unlucky winners of the lottery the next day and have a kid bring a gun to school.

she said kids that are even mild behavioral offenders now need to be treated like potential shooters and there is talk of having increased security in schools (armed police stationed in schools). it's getting real bad.

i live in new jersey, where the gun laws are incredibly strict, and according to wikipedia there have only been 3 school shootings in the history of the state (two in inner cities, where a kid shot someone else in a disagreement, and one where a kid shot a bullet into a wall in a school 30+ years ago).

As for mass shootings, once again per Wikipedia, there is only one, which took place 69 years ago.

[Intro: Logan Paul & Zircon (YouTuber)]
It's a fact that everyone has a hero (yah)
And sometimes when you're tickled just a right way
You gotta make dumbass song about it (fact)
So, this is that dumbass song (double fact)
And guess what? I'm feeling tickled
Wait what?
Hahaha, yah, yeet

[Verse 1: Logan Paul]
I saw this video saying: "Logan, You're My Hero"
Sayin' I'm the man like I'm some type of Robert de Niro
I don't know why tho
This kid looks like he's shy though
But he tore up that track like a gosh darn tornado
I'm just a boy from Ohio
Following his dreams
I'm somebody's hero?
Wow, that's amazing
And if you really believe it
You can do anything
You can go and start a movement
Look at Martin Luther King
No, I'm not sayin' that this little dude is Martin Luther King
But I'm not saying that he's not
It's not a sure thing
You don't know it, I don't know it
Now who are you to say
That this kid ain't MLK
Or even Kanye?
The point is, he's a Maverick
He paves his own path
He don't listen to the haters
Who may point and laugh
He stuck his neck out for me like a full grown giraffe
Now Noah, it's your turn cuz I did the half

[Chorus: Zircon (YouTuber) & Logan Paul]
Everyone has a hero (true)
Zero people shouldn't have a hero (yah, yah)
Logan is my hero, he is really nice (ha)
So I went and made a song about him twice (what?)
Song about me twice?Noah, that's really nice (yah)
Hit me up if you ever need advice (yah)
And here dude, take some Maverick merchandise (link in bio)
Everybody needs someone to idolize (true)
He is my hero
We share sometimes
For example, this pizza slice (hahaha)
Let's do something cool like go stop some crimes
And hang with all the girls in paradise (smash)
He have no limit like the skies
My man is a savage, I can see it in his eyes
It's true Logan, you're really wise
Also really true, let's harmonize

[Verse 2: Logan Paul]
Okay, enough of that, time for start making some sense
Back to the hero stuff, let's talk future tense
In 13 to 20 years, we'll both be presidents
So if you talk smack, we'll call the secretary of defense
Not to mention, we'll balance the federal deficit
And yes, I'm aware that my rhymes are super intelligent
It's cuz I'm in the zone, I'm avatar in my element
I'm rhyme bender, here to stay, resident

[Chorus: Zircon (YouTuber) & Logan Paul]
Everyone has a hero (true)
Zero people shouldn't have a hero (yah, yah)
Logan is my hero, he is really nice (ha)
So I went and made a song about him twice (what?)

generally, the idea is that your needs are provided if you work. this is contrary to the current system, where many workers do not have their needs met, and some have far more than they need while doing no work.

true... until you achieve actual communism, and in today's day and age the goal most people would probably have for a society would be that it's more or less fully automated to meet their needs
