Proper widgets have been around since last year, and while they're not at a glance, they're a swipe away on the left, out of the way. The LED feature is a tricky one, but overall I've found it to be not incredibly necessary, especially when I can get notifications on my Apple Watch and set notifications to constantly go off until addressed.

So yeah, sounds like your gripes with iOS are all prior to iOS 7 when they redid everything up.

to me that seems like a square peg in a round hole type solution, though. i dont want to have to spend $300+ on a (what I would consider useless) smartwatch just to be able to have an easy way to view notifications.

i think notifications in general are my biggest gripe with the iphone; i dont know why apple cant group similar ones together and organize them by importance, rather than making everything its own individual item. but with an iphone you just have to learn to live with it

i dont get why people here are so averse to iphones in general. is it because they're popular?

The iPhone is a great example of technology expecting me to adapt my life to it, rather than it being flexible enough to adapt to my life.

How is an iPhone not flexible and Android is? Because you can't play emulators and install themes as easily on one of them?

I take picture on my iPhone, it immediately pops up on my iPad, where I can share it, or my Mac, where I can edit it. All of this is done through the OS. I add an event to my calendar, it pops up everywhere. If you have schedules on Google/Windows, it's easy to import those too.

I just don't get how one could say that an iPhone is objectively obstructive in real-world use when its entire purpose is to be the exact opposite.

eh i kind of get what admiral is saying. the iphone is only very integrated like you are saying when you own a billion different apple products.

i have a windows PC at home and dont own a tablet, so my iphone is my only apple product, and it's basically a technological island for my other devices. the only continuity i have between them all is google services.

meanwhile there are a lot of things with iphones where i feel like i have to bend over backwards. say a friend emails me an album, on an android phone i can immediately save the album to my google drive straight from gmail, download the music files right out of my drive, and you're good to go with the new music without ever putting down the phone.

with my iphone if i get an album i have to put it on my drive via the PC, then i have to download it there, then plug in my phone and transfer the music to iTunes and then to my phone, and God help me if this iphone is not the one that's registered to my desktop PC. it's a pain in the ass for no reason.

that being said at the end of the day a phone is just a phone, i use it for calls/texts/emails/gps/music/etc and thats pretty much the same thing across both platforms.

It's also quite the marketing gimmick that people think they need new phones every 1-2 years. If any other high-end tech purchase needed replacement that often, we'd universally agree it was a piece of shit. At this level of smartphone stagnation, phones should be lasting 4-5 years. Same as most computers.

it's planned obsolescence

I thought most people streamed music through Spotify, google music, iTunes, or SiriusXM.

I get like 90% of my my music through Spotify, but the thing is that I don't want to pay for unlimited data to stream all the time, so I use Spotify's download feature to listen to lots of music from there offline. This all contributes to the app taking up more space on my phone but I manage it pretty well

I can't believe our society encourages people to do this to themselves. Makes me sad.

Would you rather he try to live with gender dysphoria and most likely end up committing suicide? Because that's the alternative.

Sexual reassignment surgery doesn't lower suicide rates.
