yea the oscars are explicitly for career recognition, not just the role.

I've only had it a few days. I built this computer last wednesday and got fs on saturday. First game I played was Diablo 2 resurrected, lol. If you would have told me in 2000...

Honestly I like the small airports I've been to irl also. Charlottesville. Lafayette. Baton Rouge. Big airports like Atlanta, Ohara, Houston, Miami, JFK, LAX are all awesome.

I wanna do some longer flights, but not until I can at least control the fucking throttle correctly.

I suspect with the 747 that there is some kind of switch I need to hit, like I need to disable the AI throttle or something, but I dont even know wtf Im doing really. 747 is awesome because it's almost as fast as an f-18. F-18 is great but it feels like GODMODE. 747 still have some challenge, it can go super high, is just generally cool, etc.

or am I totally wrong and there are some great planes I MUST try out? I don't know much about planes but I wanna fly a WW2-era fighter plane, something like the Wildcat, but I don't know which plane, if any, is comparable.

we arent even going to talk about helicopters yet. I havent successfully flown one yet.

also, yes, I did try the tutorials but fuck that shit. I came here to fucking fly.

I mostly dont fly in the cockpit, but I realize that a lot of the controls are in the cockpit.

im starting from a runway, but you don't have to taxi when you start, you just hit the throttle.

it's about actually finishing the flight, the game makes you taxi to a parking space, but the f-18 doesn't turn left and right on the ground (presumably that switch will allow me to, though, Im going to try it out next time.

I also have the weather set to real time but i have to change it every time as well. Kinda annoying but it's w/e.

If you watch the movie, you'll notice all the tech in the film is really 1970s stuff, with some pop culture, fashioon, and product placement exceptions (Michael Jordan, Micro Machines, etc).

The entire attitude the parents have is much closer to the 70s than to 1990.

yea that's what normally works in airplanes, but not the f-18. see the screenshot posted, it looks like I need to flip a switch to taxi steer?

The in cockpit and out of cockpit controls are different.
There is a pretty good chance it's somewhere in the tutorials....but the program has a huge learning curve.

I can reliably land the Super Hornet...which is a blast to fly...but I still can't turn it off once back on the tarmac. Some of that can just be me being lazy.

Also, side note: Simviation hasn't been giving out planes like they used to....But they did give out the Fokker Dr.I.

In a way I am not huge help here, I don't think I've tried the 747.
...But I think I understand you frustrations in general.

Also, speaking of real-time weather: is there a way to get it to default to on? I have to turn it on every time.

it's pretty awesome and relaxing. I _LOVE_ riding on airplanes though. Didn't ride a plane till I was 30, and I've flown a few times since then but it's just the coolest thing.

I like flying city-to-city 747 flights the most. I did New York to Philly, Miami to Tampa, Houston to Lafayette, Houston to Austin, LA to Las Vegas, Vegas to LA... so far.

Not being able to actually finish the flight it annoying though. I can land on the runway but can't shut the 747 down all the way so the flights never end.

Still fun.

1. why dont the throttle and dethrottle buttons work on the 747? am i doing something wrong?
2. can i control all 4 engines at the same time somehow? if i use the mouse the game only lets me move 1/4 at a time but thats not how flying a 747 is supposed to work.
3. to get around this I look at the throttle and then press the menu button so the AI flies for a bit and the AI moves the throttle but this is janky and I still cant control the damn throttle.
4. how tf do you find out how to shut down the engine systems? i fly my routes and then cant get the game to tell me how to turn off the damn plane. "Shut off airplane systems." like how in tf am i supposed to do that.
5. generally any help you can give on flying the 747.
