Also, as far as the coffee conversation goes, pretty sure it's up to personal taste. I hate Starbucks (too bitter, even though I enjoy some bitterness), hate Tim Hortons (ridiculously bland), enjoy McDonalds (at least here in Canada, used to be trash, and is now quite good) and mostly find local coffee shops with well-trained staff using beans from local roasteries make the most flavorful and aromatic coffee. Guess I'm a snob! I still enjoy gas station coffee, as some extra flavoring will mask the less uhhh...expressive flavor (**** I'm a snob).

It is kind of heartbreaking for me if I'm somewhere that only has instant coffee though. Definitely does not taste the same, even with cream and sugar.

I don't really relate, because any time I've been at my lowest...sometimes I've had friends around, sometimes I've been completely isolated...it's always ME that has to make the final action. Friends are good, but I've known too many people to use friends as crutches. Must I reasonably deal with the **** hitting the fan for the 40th time? If you don't have a friend who'll drive you to anger management, you better learn how to read a bus schedule.

Yes, you can learn from a crackheads story. I do not relate to a vast majority of professionals, but I know for a fact that objective and scientifically sound advice from a grounded individual, be they a professional or not, is helpful. Sure, I would agree a majority of professionals are rich kids with little practical advice for someone who has struggled. There are many who struggled, and came from places you personally know. To disregard this is to disregard obvious fact.

cognitive behavioural therapy
meditation
therapy in general

therapy is often expensive, which really sucks. but there are usually cheaper options available locally. buy books on anger management. buy books on quitting smoking. find one that speaks to you. go to the library and look at what books they have on these things, on cognitive behavioural therapy. talk to people you know who have quit smoking.

The Zelda HD remasters are pretty great if you're into playing Twilight Princess and Wind Waker again. Super Mario 3D World and New Super Mario Bros U are great Mario games. DK Tropical Freeze. I think you can still download VC games? Access to GBA games is pretty great, I'm really enjoying playing through Golden Sun right now...Earthbound too. I kinda love still having my Wii U around, I transferred all my old Wii data onto it years ago, so I have a bunch of great VC games (Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Chrono Trigger, Earthworm Jim).

That being said, I'd really like to get a Switch after I've beat BotW, a few major VC games, and some old Wii games (Xenoblade, Galaxy 2).

I did it in Blue, around when I was 11 I think? Borrowed a friend's extra gameboy and copy of Red that I played through.

I then completed Diamond's Pokedex after playing it for over a year and trading with a friend with Pearl. I think it was a lot easier, if somewhat time consuming, due to the internet trading. Diamond was where my interest in Pokemon games (age 16-17) somewhat fell off. I still bought Black and X after this, but hardly played them. I bought HeartGold too, and played it a fair amount....not nearly enough though, for my favorite gen. Diamond had very slow mechanics, and I don't feel like they've gotten better...perhaps they have though, I haven't checked out much new.

I'm stoked to get a Switch and Let's Go Pikachu...a somewhat chiller, beautifully redone remake of the classic games, and I can control it with a Pokeball? I'm a sucker.

also, it's nice that here in Canada, there's increased access to cannabis. it's a better intoxicant than alcohol by far (my opinion), and most casual middle aged users don't seem to be addicted, as I am. there are a lot of young people that think they're 'just fine' with their high intake of high thc weed, but I really don't think it's that great for you. pot culture is pretty stupid.

I smoke every day and have for nearly 8 years. I find it hasn't impeded my life too much, but is starting to a bit more recently (increased anxiety, increased overall tiredness). I laid off for 4 days while I had a ladyfriend from out of town over, and it went just fine. As soon as she was gone though, I went right back to it. I'm not great at being alone. I'll probably lay off of it some day, I just really enjoy it, especially when just chilling with friends (playing games, Magic, eating pizza). It'd be nice to just enjoy it casually from time to time instead of feeling a compulsion (addiction) to hit it up as soon as I'm home from work.

I've dealt with a lot of dumbass dudes in my life, mostly in the workplace. Mostly dealt with very nice women. A few dumbasses to be sure, but mostly in the dude demographic. I've managed a pizza restaurant, was the manager and chef of a ramen bar (started as a dishwasher for 4 months, was prep cook/manager year and a half, became chef for 6 months), have worked as a pharmacy assistant, worked at a lumberyard, grocery stores, remote fishing lodges....

I worked at McDonald's for a year. I'm a very particular person, so I 'had pride' in making sure people had the appropriate stuff in the bag. That being said, I was still living at my parent's at the time, as an 18 year old. People living off that wage are often exhausted from working two ****ty jobs, and eating ****ty food at work (also paying 50% for staff meals at McDonalds, which is BS).

I did one or two stupid things as a drunk 18 year old.

I resolved all of those details of my life with individuals involved (one instance of somewhat lewd behavior outside of a bedroom door, and one instance of shaming a woman online with pictures). Men should be capable of being better people than a lot of men in today's society who are excused for heinous acts that not you (hopefully) nor I have committed. I have not jumped on women and groped them, drunk or otherwise. I have not exposed my penis to women at parties, nor masturbated in front of women (more of a reference to CK). Perhaps you believe Kavanaugh guilty of these acts, or perhaps you don't. I think it's more disgusting that a lot of you excuse these acts as mundane acts of youth. Sure, a lot of us weren't raised altogether too well, and might have done things like these as teenagers, often under the influence of different substances. I know I've personally made amends for any 'bad' things I did as a young dude.

Some guys get known as grabby drunks. Screw those guys. If you get like that, best learn not to drink.
