A lot of reboots are bad... I watched one and a half episodes of the Magnum PI reboot and I was about ready to vomit to death. I was like "maybe that first one I saw was just off" and then I couldn't even finish the second as it was worse. Absolute dog shit. MacGyver is actually decent though. I've seen a bunch of those episodes.

$600 + $1400 is how I'd interpret it. The people whining are probably just faking outrage to get more money for nothing.

There are all kinds of obvious logistical issues with that idea. It actually makes things so much harder for nations and governments.

The best example we can see of this is Italy dropping the lira in favour of the euro. The way they would shift the lira around to stabilize the economy was ended when they adopted a shared currency because they had basically no control over it and they've been having issues since. Not to say none existed prior, but it made it more challenging for them to swiftly adapt in a way that had worked in the past.

This. Gray areas exist, like "should Britain have entered the first world war or not". That's a debate without a correct answer, really. "Is the _____ genocide horrible?" has no other interpretation beyond "yes" - if you were pro-genocide, you were on the wrong side.

The government should just do everyone's taxes and send them a bill or a refund. That's how it is in some places.

I'm a behavioral therapist working directly with clients still. I do get the vaccine earlier than most because of it, so there is that. I have had to stop training at the gym, which suck.

Get some stuff for home? I had no discipline to go out, so I bought a bunch of stuff a few years ago and was pretty well setup before covid. I'd go fucking insane if I couldn't workout. Literally.

I worked from home and only had to go in for meetings. That was gonna change, and the place (while I loved my coworkers) wasn't really a great fit so I left when "work from the office multiple days per week" seemed like it was gonna start. If something perfect came my way, I'd take it. Otherwise, nah.

It's crazy how different one church can be to another when you'd think they'd follow the same principles. Talking to a guy here, he left one Lutheran church to go to another Lutheran church because one was basically hate mongering and the replacement church was love mongering. How does this happen?! I'm glad those don't exist here. Certain courses (more serious ones) in h/s just had the choice to take your teacher's final or a harder one prepared in the capital by a group. I did the latter, as having four of those completed was more or less a guaranteed acceptance for anything but the really competitive stuff.

I take pics from a specific side because it's a case of "you can tell I broke my nose" vs "you can't" XD

More negative than positive. It's good for things like giving addicts a non-drug or alcohol-based thing to focus on, or for people who are ethically or morally bankrupt but manage to be guilted into doing what's right because of it... but there's also so much death and destruction and hate that it has caused. I look at it as a cultural relic, but not as something that's really needed now.

Unless you're saving a ton of videos, it should be. I have some pretty major console/PC port games and have 64GBs and generally stay in the 50s at all time. I am pretty on top of not keeping every photo/video though.

XCOM, especially on Ironman

This. I fucking love XCOM. Start with Enemy Within and move onto 2 (with War of the Chosen) afterwards. 2 + WotC is the "best" experience, but Enemy Within (the "complete" version of the first game, not to be confused with Enemy Unknown) is worth playing. They are connected, but each have their own story and flow, and because EW is less advanced, it would be harder to go back to after WotC. I wouldn't start on Ironman though... learn the ropes and do that second playthrough. It may have been patched by now, but I had a glitch in XCOM 2 where my entire team could do anything other than attack for 1-2 turns at random... and because Ironman autosaves over itself constantly, I pretty much had no way around it and was essentially forced to just get shot at sometimes. Reloading the game from a save that decided I couldn't have a turn would save the no turn part. This is only a problem if you're on Ironman and if it wasn't patched yet. I started a new game without it because it was pretty frequent. Everything is procedurally generated, so it's a different experience each time, sorta like Civ. The feeling XCOM gives you is great. Nothing else like it. You struggle and feel helpless for the first third, even the playing field over the middle third, and by the final third you feel like you're unstoppable and the tables have turned. It's very empowering.

Man, in XCOM 2 I had this one moment where we were evacuating a VIP and it was a slog and a half. We were just about at the pickup location, and my team was pretty beat up and I just wanted to get the hell outta there with everyone alive. I had this perk on my Skirmisher that gave him a miniscule chance at an instant kill shot. I think it was like 2% or 5%, I can't remember. Anyway, I left him on overwatch behind a cement barrier as I moved my other people towards the evac spot atop this building. One of them triggers this Sectopod (huge-ass walker robot that has an overpowered amount of health and armor) that had been ducked down in said building. Because an instant kill is an instant kill, and my Skirmisher was on overwatch, the Sectopod getting triggered and marching past him made him take his shot. It then begins exploding and falls down. I've had some "thank god" relief moments in this series, but that was the king of them all. I went from complete dread and frustration to satisfied exhaustion as everyone escaped in the aftermath.
