It's a mixed bag. When it's working, it's great. But it has a variety of little hangups, where it'll stop responding and then you've got to slog over to your PC and restart Steam. It's a pain in the ass for me because my PC is in my office upstairs.

Also, some games without FOV options literally make me want to vomit.

Steam Link sure is a hell of a lot cheaper than building a home theater PC though.

My options are:
1. 1 hour 40 minute commute at 3AM and sleep under my desk; or
2. 4 hour commute at 7:00AM and spend more time in the car than I spend at work.

Either way, the drive home is a bitch. It's only twice per week for me though. I can't imagine someone living with this 5 days a week. There aren't enough podcasts in the history of mankind to fill that kind of time.

which one do you do? what city do you work in?

I sleep under the desk most days that I drive in. Luckily it doesn't bother me too much, comfort-wise, so I'd rather do that than lose 2+ hours in the car. I commute into Los Angeles.

People should be free to say whatever they want on Twitter without a freaking mob coming to end their job and livelihood.

And this is true for anyone on any side of the political aisle.

I was bothered by this when leftists did it to conservatives over the past few years, and I'm equally bothered now that the tables have turned.

That said, leftist blogs coming to her defense are exposing some truly blatant hypocrisy. If you're gonna dish it out, you'd better be willing to take it.

I mostly agree with this, but it gets a little more nuanced when that person's job involves editing a newspaper. There are certain professions where credibility and decorum matter (or should, despite the results of the 2016 election). A journalist who tweets things like this in her time off is a journalist who doesn't inspire the benefit of the doubt. That could be a problem for many of her readers. It's a problem for me, in any case.

X1-3 are all solid, although X3 is the weakest of the three.

X4 used to be my favorite, but revisiting it recently I was slightly disappointed by how easy it is and how cringey the story gets at times.

X5 and X6 are a mixed bag. There are some real bad mechanics in both, but also a lot to enjoy if you can somehow ignore the low points.

X7... woof.

X8 really made an effort to shake up the gameplay but again with the story cringe... it's painful. And the graphics are an eyesore.

Recommendation: play X1-4.

This isn't a 1st amendment issue. It's a social media issue. Social media is perilous to democracy because it enables people to live in isolated information silos and feeds our tribalist instincts. These tools (and the abundance of information they provide) aren't inherently bad, but people are inclined to use them in ways that are harmful. If we don't get smarter about the way we use social media, it will continue to amplify our dumbness.

TopicPolygon: Gaming's toxic men, explained
Polycosm

I always thought it had more to do with gaming starting out (or re-emerging after the crash) with a relatively narrow audience of males. Video games were, at one point, primarily a refuge for socially awkward / scorned boys. The industry has exploded into the mainstream over the past 20 - 25 years, but there's this underlying culture, held over from the early days. Those boys (who are now adult men) feel a certain ownership over the domain of games because they bought into it early, were teased about it during their formative years and now it's become a hardened part of their identity.

But that's just my own half-baked view, based largely on personal experience. I haven't read the article yet; tag for later.

Trump will be impeached if Democrats win the house, although it's not a 100% sure thing that they'll file right away after the election. They might wait until the Mueller probe is complete. Who knows... we can't even be sure who the house leader will be.

The likelihood that the Senate convicts without Mueller's report has got to be in the low single digits. With the report, maybe there's a real chance. Depends on what Mueller can prove.

No, not at all. Disney made a hasty, poor choice in my opinion. Meanwhile, thousands of people are still putting everything they have into the continuing production of the MCU. Maybe Guardians 3 will be worse off without Gunn... or maybe not. But aside from that, Disney's choice, considered in isolation, doesn't diminish my enjoyment of the MCU.
