Leave me alone. Do not message me anymore. I don't want private messages from your alt. I don't want apologies even if someone tells you that you have to apologize to me, don't. I don't want you to post in this topic. I don't want you using an alt to message me. Just stay away from me. I don't need your help, I don't need you telling me to take a part time job when I teach all day full time. I don't need you telling me how to manage my budget. I'm doing just fine by myself. I don't need anything from you. Please, please leave me alone.

when you do that, you're not really engaged in a process that is different than those who are religious. They just trust different people and different texts.

By far, the dumbest post in this entire topic.

When scientists say that they can transform the human voice into a series of ones and zeroes that can be shot across continents and rebuilt and replicated ten thousand miles away, it sounds as ridiculous as Jesus walking on water. But when I call someone across the world, I'm actually able to speak to them.

When someone tells me they can send a 500 ton hunk of metal across the atlantic ocean at 600 miles an hour and have it safely land and take off, I'd say they're crazy. But planes actually do fly. We've all be on one.

I'm not trusting the "text" of a signals processing book or a physics textbook. I'm actually doing the things they say can be made possible.

And honestly, you think that scientists of the modern era have no more credibility than the people who wrote the bible two thousand years ago, who spoke about how the universe was created despite not even knowing that dinosaurs existed?

Most scientific principles are not legitimately understood by 99% of the population, yet they are also accepted on the basis of trust and belief.

Completely wrong.

The scientific principles are believed because of the indisputable evidence supporting them.

Does the sun bring heat to the earth? Yes. Do I know how it does that? I can read an article about it, but still not truly understand it.

But when I stand beneath the sun, I feel its heat.

That's evidence, not "faith".

I can say that the lord was looking out for my daughter on September 11th by having her miss an appointment in World Trade Center....but there's zero evidence of that, anywhere in history. It's bullshit. But a lot of people believe that kind of stuff.

Faith in religion and "faith" in science are not the same thing because one is supported by evidence, and the other isn't.

Well I'm a Christian and I feel.the bible was written with metaphors and alagories because man simply could not comprehend it at the time. Maybe the exact science behind GOD is slowly being found out. Atoms to me are GOD's building blocks. Similar to lego' s but much much more complicated. Lego's can only become blocky shapes, atoms can take any shape or form. Exactly how GOD manipulates the atoms and everything else we have seen, remains a mystery for now. But I do believe one day we will be able to prove the bible with concrete proof, through science. We have learned so much in such a short amount of time. I firmly believe the big bang was cause by GOD. If angels, demons, heaven, hell, etc exist. Then maybe they are different universes. Maybe their is more to a conscious then we know. If we ever get to the point where we reach a brick wall in science and know everything to know about the universe. Then and only then will I believe that GOD doesn't exist. But that will take millions upon millions of years.

Faith is the center of religion, the belief in the unprovable, therefore to me that makes all religions correct and there are a million gods out there.

I have faith; I believe in what is unprovable. I believe 1+1=3, and that humans don't need water to live. Therefore, 1+1=3 and humans don't need water to live.

dude What? That's not at all what religion is about. Religion is about having faith in your own morals and what you believe happens in the afterlife
That's specifically why someone can be "smart" but still believe in it >___>

Believing that Jesus turned water into wine is the same as believing 1+1=3.

I know plenty of otherwise smart people, who think that Jesus once walked on water and was seen by mankind.

Are you implying that a man who very clearly violated the laws of physics, never existed, despite at least more than 40 era-specific Roman extra-biblical records show that at the very least, Jesus existed and was crucified.

I didn't quite follow this lol.

But yes, I'm saying that he never walked on water....a lot of people -- smart people, too -- really believe that he did....that he was the son of God, that he once walked this earth as you and I walk it today....

I just can't understand how someone could really believe that
